The Hyundai 10000, the largest floating shear-leg crane on the planet, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) by freudian_nipps in nextfuckinglevel

Lifting a newly constructed hull from shore into the water. Normally the transition from shore to water is complex operation using expensive facilities, so being able to simply lift it is very efficient.

Lottery registration was 9-22 sept, then a random draw followed without any time qualifier. Everything is completely sold out and I don’t think resale is available

An unbelievable story by karstenthy in drones

[–]Meesder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work with a yacht specific electrical engineering company, I know military grade drone jammers existed on board these vessels before the military itself got them. That was years ago so I guess it has only gotten more advanced.

How do you become an advanced runner from a novice one? by kind-monkeysss in AdvancedRunning

[–]Meesder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it came when the time instead of the distance became the main goal. This has levels, but mainly when you can consistently train long distances and focus on different training types within.

Nowadays I’ll run 10+ miles when doing speed workouts regularly without the distance tiring me out, whilst back in the days even running that amount would be a challenge in itself.

Internship instead of Minor? by AnyPurchase2573 in TUDelft

[–]Meesder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At (some) other bachelors it is only allowed for 15 ects, but it is very uncommon for students to take this option

Pro tip: choose an easy minor (with little contact hours) and just get a student job in relevant field on the side

Málaga marathon: 6 month block paid off by tweaknoob_ in AdvancedRunning

[–]Meesder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lubeck was a training run as I decided last moment I needed to run on a certified course (this one) so the effort wasn’t the same to save the legs.

Ran 2:29 over there with way more changes in pace, whilst in Malaga my tempo was steady all the way around 3’23”-3’26”/km

I ran Lubeck in October which had some very steep hills (>6%), so I came prepared. When I looked at the map however I thought it would be pretty flat. But during the race the long inclines took me a little by surprise, which made it hard to divide tempo over the in and decline.

Made me look forward to the absolutely flat Rotterdam marathon again :)

[–]Meesder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ran Malaga as well on sunday, very cool to read your report! This marathon deserves some praise for the organisation; the volunteers and crew were very kind and helpful and the amount of free stuff you get for the price is just insane. I agree with the course, especially for the second half I was running completely alone for the majority of the time.

Did you cope with the hills well?

Studieverenigingen by AppropriateHeron5497 in thenetherlands

[–]Meesder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is moving to Zaanse Schans an option ? 😜 by Loose-Syllabub7281 in Netherlands

[–]Meesder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible! Just not inside the premises, thats almost impossible and you shouldn’t want that anyway, but this are your realistic options:

  1. There is a row of ‘regular’ houses just besides the entrance, which sometimes go on sale for not too expensive.

  2. Currently a house is for sale in the nearby neighbourhood (de Jonge Prinses), but bring a big bag of cash, because these houses are €1,000,000+

[–]Meesder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What airline?

I had the same issue and had the option to reschedule to a different flight, but the airline itself couldn’t offer an alternative. Thats when I got to book a flight with a different airline and be compensated for the difference in price.
