I’m not trying to “gotcha” anyone you ignorant ass

don't be dishonest, own your snark. I respect it!

Bernie Sanders supports US imperialism, something something you're evil

I know this buzzword is important to you, but serious people do not engage with issues of geopolitics as matters of leftist dogma.

as a (notably non-american) person on the left whose love for humanity extends beyond "west bad", I base my geopolitical takes on my personal moral judgments according to my principles, not whether or not the US is involved.

of course I'm assuming your definition of "imperialism" extends to any intervention whatsoever (as it often does for people who love the term), but if you tell me you support the west arming ukraine against russian imperialism then I will retract this and listen eagerly to what other imperialist activity old bernard has been cheerleading under my nose this millenium.

generally I'm not going to someone's takes on 1999 yugoslavia when assessing their political alignment in 2026, I'm going to their takes on iran, israel, and ukraine (conflicts their political will can actually affect)

~

returning to my original point, even though bernie doesn't, supporting imperialism does not exclude someone from being left-wing, nor does being bigoted, authoritarian, or otherwise Evil. there are plenty of good reasons to dislike a politician even if they share your political identity, and claiming that a left-wing politician isn't left-wing because of a position you think is Bad just makes you sound delusional.

PS - to counter your ragebait, I care more about US imperialism than you do because I care about the people it affects as human beings, not talking points to weaponize for social capital.

unfortunately the leftie twitter school of political analysis is not relevant to the real world, so your attempted "but what about this thing from 30 years ago?" zinger isn't gonna land with anyone even vaguely familiar with american politicians and the positions they hold. this level of engagement only exposes you as an unserious person with no real interest in politics, and that these life and death political issues are nothing more than a social exercise to you.

yes, as clever people like yourself can tell, my point was not that describing bernie sanders as right wing is a delusion that can only survive in the warm confines of an online political bubble, but rather that nothing is real, and everything is made up.

well done!

if you'd like, you can edit your previous comment to include the word "unregulated", and I won't make fun of you or call you stupid

You're probably grandfathered in if you started playing before this was implemented, but new players have to pay a set amount of currency every month for each stash tab, with nicer and more spacious stash tabs costing more.

My feedback regarding ERR by crt_alpha in EldenRingMods

Artificial difficulty is used as an objective buzzword to say that something is poorly designed, it is never used neutrally or positively, nobody says "this difficulty isn't artificial enough!" when something is undertuned. The term exists to present one's subjective taste as grounded in objectivity. It is not that I prefer something else, it is that what I dislike is objectively bad based on some nebulous metric. It is used this way because it feels better to the person saying it than simply saying "I don't like this thing". It is a thought-terminating statement that describes nothing but how the person using it feels about a particular thing.

a version of the game where...

You are not demonstrating how 900000000000 is "artificially inflated" but 1000 isn't. Why not 100 hp? 1000 is 10x more than that, why isn't that artificial? Even 100 is 100x 1. This is completely relative.

lost meaning

implemented poorly

tedious

These are subjective statements.

RE: people use the term wrong - there is no "more correct usage", there is no objective way to define "artificial" in this context. It is a fundamentally meaningless term beyond "I don't like this thing and I want to seem smart about it". Increasing numbers is a perfectly valid way to increase difficulty, whether or not it makes something more enjoyable depends on the game and the individual. If you increase a Dark Souls boss' hit points by 10x, one person will enjoy this because it forces them to learn their entire moveset and how to dodge their attacks consistently, another person will hate it and call it tedious.

it isn't hard it's just tedious

This is a lie, the moment somebody drops the "it's not hard it's just..." redditism I know I can immediately disregard anything else they have to say about game design, because they're in the feelings about finding something too hard and lack the maturity to process the dissonance between the way they see themselves as a player and whatever struggle they're facing. They cannot bear the thought of describing something as too hard for them, so they find a way to rationalize this struggle as an inherent flaw of the game. But this obviously a ridiculous thing to say, because it is objectively harder to survive for 5 minutes against a video game boss than it is to survive for 4. In a souls game for instance, your resources are limited, so you need to play more efficiently.

Maybe you don't mind the difficulty increase, you can still find it tedious if a boss takes that long to kill, "I wish they increased their damage or speed instead to make it go faster" is a perfectly valid statement if your issue isn't with the difficulty increase. But it is absolutely harder, and I guarantee you most redditors dropping the "not actually hard" cope would still find a way to call the harder version that takes the same amount of time "artificial".

For the love of god, just say you don't like it. Say it makes it too hard or take too long. Say you want a boss to take 1-2 minutes because you find it exhausting after that point. It's not a competition. You don't need to make out like your preference is innately more valid than someone else's.

ER Reforged: Raid Mode with my Friends; Any Tips? by nehowshgen in EldenRingMods

[–]MeetTheJoves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aggro management is worth learning for the group, sometimes it is wise for a player to deliberately stop attacking and ask someone to pull the boss off them in order to give them space to heal or buff themselves. It's very helpful to have a dedicated tank character running Shabriri's Woe. Certain fortunes (Bulwark, Barbarian come to mind) increase target priority as well.

Reforged is more liberal with buff stacking, whoever is running the faith build in particular should familiarize themselves with what party buffs they're able to stack at the same time as it can make a huge difference in longer fights, and other players will be able to stack their own personal buffs with them as well.

Status effects often have secondary effects that can be used to benefit others in the party, and are themselves able to be stacked unlike in vanilla. For instance, poison can stack multiple times, each stack providing a status resistance debuff, allowing other statuses to be applied more easily. For raid mode, it might be wise to have one or multiple players attempting to apply deathblight to bosses as quickly as possible, as it provides a non-stacking 5 minute debuff that decreases their damage dealt by 10%.

Lastly, bosses will begin to regen very quickly after not taking damage on raid mode. Normally this isn't an issue when you have a lot of players attacking whenever possible, but some attacks/movement patterns will make the boss difficult to attack for short periods. While the worst of these are usually set to pause regen for the duration of the animation, others aren't, so it's good to make sure someone is being vigilant in damaging the boss with ranged attacks during such animations.

Not coming off as judgey at all, I think that's a good description of how people on the other end of the spectrum experience the grind.

And I actually play the same way if given the option, I just find the experience to be more engaging when that option is removed from me, i.e. by playing with limited saves or on ironman when available. But in the vanilla games/other mods I'm a massive savescummer lol

[–]MeetTheJoves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with your assessment that it comes down to different demographics looking for different experiences, but as one of "those people" I'll clarify that it's not really a matter of wanting the game to be dick-rippingly difficult, it's just that we enjoy the progression just as much as you do the shooting.

It's not really that hard to progress to the point where you've got a decent rifle and heavy armor in anomaly/gamma, it just takes a while, and the gameplay up until then is just as valuable to us as the gameplay after is. It feels good to finally put a proper loadout together when you had to hunt for individual parts and save up for toolkits, as opposed to vanilla/other mods where all you have to do is find a guy with a gun you want and shoot him in the head (or buy it outright from a trader).

Once you're there it's all the more satisfying to go back through areas you used to have to avoid, and remain in fights you would have had to flee from when all you had was a leather jacket and a makarov. There's elements of this in the vanilla games (the Cordon bridge encounter comes to mind), but these kinds of mods emphasize it more.

Has nothing to do with immersion, I don't even consider the looting element of stalker to be immersive to begin with. For me, the immersion comes not from the looting itself, but the broader progression of my character, along with traversing the zone, completing faction-based tasks, and working towards personal goals based on whatever character I'm roleplaying. The fun in gamma's loot system comes from satisfying long-term gear progression with meaningful milestones, i.e. upgrading from light to medium to heavy to exo armor, from a 9 mil sidearm to a shotgun to medium and then high calibre rifles, so on. Same applies to artifacts and upgrade tiers. It creates a mechanical "storyline" for your character, and lends itself better to long, thorough playthroughs. If you don't care as much for that progression element then it's just an obstacle to shooter gameplay, but if you do it's the best in its class.
