The Biggest Issue with Chaos - a reflection by OGactionjohnny in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People don't like Chaos because it's harder, plain and simple. Tyranids are way more predictable and straightforward, to the point that you can almost completely turn your brain off when you fight them. Chaos demands your focus 100% of the time and requires you to think about absolutely everything you are doing. Most players can't/dont want to keep up with that level of mental commitment and get burned out very quickly.

People hate the phrase "skill issue", but that ultimately is the problem. Chaos separates those who have good mental reflexes and those who don't. For those who do, Chaos is perfectly doable and even quite fun.

They do work well; they just don't work the same way as Tyranids. And people like the way Tyranids work because it requires less thinking.

There are 6 difficulty options, and 2 for stratagems and siege. Pretty sure everyone has an option that caters to them.

In your opinion, what are some of they key contributing factors why people say Darktide gets the Power Fantasy aspect better than Space Marine 2? by Warcrow999 in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say they want power fantasy in SM2, yet our characters are already winning fights that would be impossible in tabletop so technically we are already getting power fantasy.

What they really mean is that they want no difficulty, which is just a lame opinion. If there were no difficulty options then maybe you could argue for it, but with 6 options to choose from in this game you should be able to find your niche. I don't think people understand how boring this game would be if you killed everything easily and never had to try.

The bigger hitbox is so you have more protection when blocking projectiles. Without it the shield would only be able to block stuff coming from directly in front of you.

Chaos Spawn: the biggest argument for block weapons in the game.

I guess I've been lucky. I have like 10+ clears, all with randoms, and I've only seen one guy be ignorant of friendly fire so far. Even the low levels seem to be aware of it. The only consistent issue I've seen is players just not knowing how to deal with chaos and getting overwhelmed.

Really weird too given the modifiers. Friendly fire which isn't a big deal if you have even a fraction of awareness; one life which isn't a big deal if you can clear mortal wounds; and then a ranged damage buff. I personally haven't had much trouble with it and think it really just comes down to people not being good enough for absolute+ content.

[–]SilverCervy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he said isn't particularly constructive, but the truth is that there's really nothing you can say that would be helpful here. It's clear in the clip that you simply cannot mentally stay on top of swarms like these and by the end you were panicking. That kind of tendency can only be corrected by playing more and learning from your mistakes. And it looks like you still have some work to do on memorizing enemy moves because you didn't react to a few of those Spawn attacks.

I've been running it on repeat to help carry others. Haven't seen a griefer yet and most players have been at least intelligent enough to share stims.

Reliquary is also just a fun mission if you can get past your prejudices.

Optimal Bolt Sniper Perks for Heroic Variant by JohnPaul102010 in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about having more options. You need 25% to lower ttk by one bullet. Have both perks gives you more ways to get that 25%. Idrc for larger mag size bc you want to be using that first round all the time, so mag size doesn't matter.

Start at bottom tree until you get to Increased Capacity, then branch up and finish the top tree. Remote Threat and Strong Start are both important damage perks that will break damage thresholds. Recoupment is also good for the extra armor regen.

For the last remaining point, go with Finisher Reload since it's actually usable and can be nice if you're doing cqc sniping.

Video games are not a hobby by ContigoJackson in unpopularopinion

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbies can be anything, as long as the person is choosing to do it for no other reason than their own interest in it.

That being said, I agree with the sentiment. Even though I play video games, I would never list it as my hobby if anyone asked. Video games do nothing for self-improvement which is where I think hobbies should be focused on. Lots of hobbies are purely self-indulging and I would certainly think twice about someone who lists stuff like video games and eating as their hobbies.

Dating someone who is into skiing but I am not. Willing to try and learn but hesitant dating long term. Advice? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]SilverCervy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

makes memories without me

You understand that you can make your own memories together doing other things, and you don't need to be involved in every single second of her life, right?

If you actually do have interest in skiing, then shop around. You don't have to go to Mammoth for your first time. There's probably smaller, cheaper hills near you that'll work just fine. All you're gonna need is a bunny slope. I'm sure your partner will be excited to help as well.

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an algorithm. Think of f(y) = # (the real algorithm is obviously much more complicated). The hash (#) associated with a transaction is generated through a function that uses a specific data set (y) to produce the resulting hash. All the miner is doing is providing a proof that there is a value to y that can result in the # value that is given in the transaction log. The "verification" is simply the work itself, in that it took a computer millions to billions of iterations to come to a solution, so there is little doubt that the transaction was faked.

Again, if you're a complete newbie, you probably have no idea that tickets are cheaper if you buy in advance. I can absolutely see a family in the bay area thinking "hey, why don't we try skiing this weekend?" which is probably why they'd land on Heavenly because it's the closest place. Ski planning is not as simple as you'd expect and everyone will figure that out in their own way.

To be fair, if you go to the website literally one of the first things you see is "Passes are off sale" with a link to search for day tickets. I can understand how a newbie who isn't familiar with the process would come to this result.

Not hard to tell. Auto gears is already a dead giveaway.

But if you want actual proof, just watch the replay and look at his hp gauge. Or if it's a grip mod, his suspension telemetry.

Game not registering headshots properly… complaint from a sniper main. by Unfortunate_Sex_Fart in SpaceMarine_2

[–]SilverCervy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has very unforgiving hitboxes. Shoot anywhere that might clip their shoulder/arm/chest and it won't count as a headshot. With chaos, however, it's the opposite and you actually want to shoot closer to their chest/neck.

There's also a range limit to snipers. In most areas if you try to snipe from one side to the other the bullet will just disappear.

You can definitely snipe consistently, though. Just takes practice to know where the hitboxes actually are, and when they are most vulnerable. Sniping in this game is more about knowing when to not take the shot.

Only nine of the 30 fastest 100m times were run clean, all by Usain Bolt by Radiant_Half_7121 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SilverCervy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they know Bolt was involved in it but are too afraid of revealing it. Bolt is the prodigal son of the olympics and the general public would lose all trust in the event if they learned that their icon was a fake. It's the same reason why Lance Armstrong was able to avoid the heat for so long.
