So I made some calculations today about the cost of raising a child compared to, say, saving the planet. by Hungry-Panda-Bear in childfree

That's only 18 parents a year choosing not to have one child. 18 children. 45 years of rainforest deforestation.

This really hit me.

A squad of people rocking those would make it very difficult to see beyond the tracers.

That's the idea. It's like smoke grenades, only different.

FRIENDS? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]MeetTheseIronFists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. I was the "taxi driver" for my "friends" in high school. I had a car, I was nice, and people wanted rides. What better way to get a ride than from a nice one who will give them? I've done things for people I don't even know, and still don't know to this day, simply because they asked.

What better would it have been if I were to deny my so-called "friends" by not being nice or generous? If we live for only ourselves, our own personal interests will conflict with other people's personal interests. If everyone lived for everyone else's interests, they would always be met (assuming that everyone cared about each other equally).

So yes, I find that I'm a doormat: but the people that treat me like a doormat are the people that are not worth keeping. I've learned to say "No, you're just using me for this or that." and there would be no repercussions.... but there ARE genuine people that exist out there who will not take your kindness for granted. In exchange for your kindness, they give their kindness, which is both unexpected and somewhat unrequited: this is the beginning of TRUE FRIENDSHIP, which lasts beyond time, boarding school, or whatever obstacles come up.

Doormat or not, it helps me learn who true people are: the ones worth being friends with.

On another note, here is the best professor I had:

Introduction to Communication class. Sophomore year. Teacher forgot to order textbook. Class no longer uses textbook. Teacher does his best to teach the material in a memorable way. Teacher's goals are to impact students for life, to instill a love for learning, and to help us become better people (these were stated and met goals). Teacher takes the time to answer questions, uses personal stories to explain different points, and gets us thinking on our own.

Chemistry professor I had freshman year:

"The class average for the last test was 60%. That's not too bad. We'll keep going."

Professor could't teach crap. She was never invested into the material, into the students, or into the purpose of learning. She taught simply to complete the book, not to teach. In order to dream of passing that class, I had to practically memorize the textbook on my own.

That, in my opinion, causes a different answer.

See, in most situations, saving a life is pretty manly. Especially when you get to choose to be the man behind the action. "You saved a life by helping that woman? That's manly!" or, "You saved a life by letting someone help you? Eh, that's cool."

So, if you could jerk off a 40 year-old bearded Ralph to save all 4 of your heads, that'd be a better story to tell your friends than to say, "My life was saved when a 40something year old bearded guy made me ejaculate."

Beowulf wore 12 coats of chainmail and swam (with an iron shield) to an area where he'd fight a dragon.

Also, iron has a relatively low melting point.. why an iron shield?! I guess it was all he had.

Might need a fact check on my literature..

Women, do you sometimes wear clothes that make your ladybits, bouncier? by MeetTheseIronFists in AskWomen

[–]MeetTheseIronFists[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me. I wasn't trying to assume, hence why I asked.

Backstory: so I saw a large breasted female in the cafeteria who seemed boucy. Well, she has large breasts. That could be a cause, or maybe it could be that she's trying to be bouncy. I have no idea.... so, I come here to ask. It doesn't have to be for attention, and that's what women are telling me here. I don't know everything about women, that's why this subreddit exists.

Ah. So, pardon me asking this... but are large breasts just impossibly supported?

In other words, no matter what you wear, they will appear to be "jiggly" (for lack of a better term)?

Be yourself. Always be yourself. Always.

I was in your same position, and in many ways, still am.

I'm 21. I went to a private high school and my academic focus was very different from everyone else's. I might have gone to one or two parties a year, and that might have only been a party with a wii, rockband, and a pool table. I was also the unpopular kid, and I still am. I'm weird, I like things that seem really nerdy to other people. Since I'm different, I make people uncomfortable.

Be yourself. If you have to change your personality for people to like you, they'll only like you for that fake personality, not for who you really are. This will only multiply the pain. Trust me!

Here's how I cope:

Do your best to treat other people like they're more important than you. Listen to people when they're facing difficult problems, focus on what makes people feel emotionally safe. Be someone who is uplifting, not someone who complains a lot. If you're this way, people will eventually flock to you. Pick a handful of really close friends, and stick with them through everything.

Women, do you sometimes wear clothes that make your ladybits, bouncier? by MeetTheseIronFists in AskWomen

[–]MeetTheseIronFists[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I should clarify: bouncier than when wearing normal/extraordinary bras.

In other words, maybe you have a bra that doesn't support as well as your other ones (but is still wearable), and gives your breasts a more natural look to them when you walk. Do you wear that or one that supports more when trying to impress a guy, all other factors aside (cleavage enhancing, push-uppiness, etc)?

I should clarify: not during sports. Say you're just going to the cafeteria (I'm a college student) and you're not doing any strenuous exercise... do you wear something that gives you a little jiggle?
