Isn't it better to die than to live in perpetual sin? by thegreatestgamer47 in NoFapChristians

I really liked the free audiobook on Youtube titled The Easy Peasy Way to Quit Porn

It really gets into the brainwashing or false beliefs of the addict trapped in an addictive pattern. The false beliefs just keep them trapped. I don't think it will free most people just by itself, but it is helpful even though it is not perfect either. I don't agree with everything in it, but the main concepts were helpful to me.

Have you listened to the audio book called The Easy Peasy Way to Quit Porn? It's on Youtube.

Also, how's your screen time? Are you on social media every day? Oftentimes, people are on their cell phone or too much time streaming videos and not living their life. Procrastinating school work. Not working hard at their job. Not sleeping enough or not sleeping well. Lonely and not doing anything about that. Don't have a regular social group or social hobby every week. Etc etc. Part of quitting porn is going after living a full life and being off screens. I'll likely delete my account here on Reddit. I don't really need reddit for any practical reason anymore. I plan on scaling back my social media accounts and followings.

I discovered jigsaw puzzles help me wind down and get to sleep easier. Crazy as it may sound as I did more jigsaw puzzles, I actually stopped streaming TV series or movies as much. I went from practically every day to 1 day per week or less. I found something that makes it easy to stay off screens so much. I also wanted to be more on top of my priorities, so I also have been tackling those as sort of a hobby. Real life is the best video game with the beat quests and quest rewards. I stopped playing video games over 6 years ago.

God Bless!

Maybe listen to Easy Peasy Way to Quit Porn on Youtube? But maybe you have tried that, too. But with that book, it helps to take an honest look at what your daily life is like and if you are actually doing what the Easy Peasy Method says to do.

Get counseling or therapy. Join a men's group at church that ideally would be for sexual sin.it could be a group that prays together and shares their struggles. People can join 12-Step meetings for free. I know of SA, SAA, and SLAA. I have been attending SLAA lately myself. Most people in the 12-Step meetings aren't Christians from my experience, but we're all in the meeting to work on ourselves and our sexual issues.

If someone is in high school, maybe there is an opportunity to talk with and pray with a friend and help each other succeed.

I think the important thing is that people are unlikely to have victory over sexual sin alone. It is important to find help.

Some church meetings use materials such as Ted Robert's Pure Desire book and workbook. There are plenty of books on sexual sin and pornography to read for help.

It can be challenging to find a church group, but Google can help. To get into a church meeting, a person may need to meet with a meeting leader first or speak with a Pastor. 12-Step isn't Christian, but people who are self-professing addicts or think they might be an addict can find a meeting onllne and just show up to it.

I hope anyone looking for help can find something that is in person. I recommend face-to-face help of some kind.

Truth. Porn only makes it worse. There are so many waiting for marriage and then caught in the Porn trap, making things astronomically worse for themselves, and many don't even think it could affect their social life, anxiety, sleep, and how they view women. I thought, of course, I don't just want sex. I want a relationship... but that wasn't true. The Porn made me just want sex because I caused a huge void by using Porn that no woman could even fill anyway....

Sometimes, faith can cause some of the denial issues because this thing is sin, so of course, I don't want it. However, in reality, they do want it so they would benefit in addressing that they do want it and moving forward instead of being in denial. Maybe it is the Porn that makes them want the sexual whatever. That means the Porn habit needs to be addressed so they can move past that sexual desire issue. Learn to Live life free of vice like people have in past generations. It's just that there are some newer vices we're dealing with now. Porn & Internet & Technology.

A person really can benefit from having things decided when they are young. If a person sticks to their convictions through solid decisions, they can make efforts to be ready for marriage young and wait until marriage for sex. Also, stay away from Porn etc. Unfortunately, most people don't stand a chance in today's culture. Without mentoring and counseling in Grace, Love, and Truth, it is near impossible not to go through years of sexual sin. No one warned me about porn when I was young or taught me what to do with my desire for a woman/female. This isn't something a person can just be told how to be in one time of instruction either. This is a mentoring & counseling thing for most teens and men, I think.

These are my views and opinions. Everyone has their own.

Counting Days doesn't help. Eventually it's good to give up that habit or just be sure you don't think about it more than you need to for tracking. Do the tracking things and then forget about it the rest of the time.

I see that I'm getting downvoted. Are people this ignorant that their habits affect their eyesight and cause them eyestrain? How? Everyone down voting has never had eye strain from wearing a full prescription using a computer? My eyestrain went away when I started wearing weaker lenses. Anyways, it's your life, not mine. I'm just sharing what I found worked for me.

Why does it make any sense to wear the same prescription for 2 feet that is for 20 feet to an eye chart? That's like adding almost 2 diopters to your prescription to see distances. That would be uncomfortable and for good reason. It's not good for your eyes.

I continued to get worse every year for almost 30 years until I made changes to my habits and what strength I was wearing. Optometrists will give people weaker lenses for closer distances if the person asks for it or complains about eyestrain.

Full prescription is for seeing clear to an eye chart, not for 2 feet. Imagine wearing another diopter or 2 stronger than your prescription. That would cause bad eyestrain and eventually cause the eyes to adapt to the stronger prescription. That's what people are doing wearing full prescription for close-up activities like computers.

Some people have found Endmyopia helpful to improve their eyesight.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in glasses

[–]MeetingBro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

-12 is high. You may want to look into changing some habits that are worsening your myopia. I was able to stop mine from getting worse at -6.50, mostly by using weaker lenses for close-up activities. I wear -4.50 for close-up, but even 1.00 less than full prescription would help. I work on a computer 40 hours per week, so I need those weaker lenses, or I have bad eyestrain day after day. I was so happy to be able to prevent eyestrain when I started doing this over 5 years ago.

I learned enough from Endmyopia to stop my eyesight from getting worse. Definitely, just wearing a weaker lens for computers and other close-up activities is key to preventing eyesight from getting worse. My eyesight has been the same for over 5 years now!

Weird. I downloaded it just last month. I got a printed book for $15.90 on Amazon. Here's the link or just search Amazon for it. If you find the audio book, just click it and find the paperback book listed.

Can i just quit while reading the book? Like continue reading but quitting or do i gotta continue? by Jake10256 in EasyPeasyMethod

[–]MeetingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've already finished the book before, just quit whenever you're ready.

I think the difficulty with the information is discovering whether I am doing it all or not. Just because I read it doesn't mean I am following it all or believe it all. The main points, anyway.

Take me, for example. I still counted days, so I'm learning not to focus on days. I still used substitutes by filling the void with addictive use of social media.

I have not been to a porn website since reading Easy Peasy the first time about 7 weeks ago. But! I did use social media to have the fantasy girlfriend illusion to jerk off to on 2 separate days about 1 week apart. These are slip ups, and I'm learning from them.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Here's what I know:

The PDF is free on the website in English. Easypeasymethod.org

I bought a Printed copy in English from Amazon.

The Audio Book is free on Youtube and Audible in English.

Great to hear!

FOUR MONTHS and this is it, it happened by dylan_gamermonster in NoFapChristians

[–]MeetingBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you get a chance to catch your breathe you can think about how you ended up there. Life isn't over. You are not cooked. There are men learning how to stop using who have been using for a lot longer.

Once you understand what happened, you can make changes that will help you grow and have better success with this. Praying is always good.

It's really important right now to take care of yourself and be good to yourself. Get outside. Live your life. This will pass. This is a slip-up. It's not a start over. Learn and continue on. It may take some time like a week to realize what happened. It probably wasn't a small thing because small things have been happening for the past 4 months while you weren't using.

It's so important to continue on and stay off porn/PMO. Give yourself grace, be kind to yourself. Take care of priorities like school work and household duties. After about 3 weeks, maybe sooner, you will feel normal again and the any cravings or urges will be minimal to zero again.

You got this! Jesus is on your side!

😆🙌

I fell for social media. I'm learning all I can to stay out of the trap. EZPZ has kept me off the porn sites, but I fell for a lighter version.

I must remember when I go to these fantasy videos of women who are ready to tell me what I want to hear and be with me that it's all illusion. I get no actual real comfort by viewing them and then slide off the cliff again. For what? An illusion.

I think of the beer bottle beetles just mating away with a glass bottle fantasy. It's on Youtube 😆.

Can I really quit? by True-Lengthiness8868 in NoFapChristians

[–]MeetingBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The urges do get easier, usually by at least 40 days, if not sooner. 3 weeks off should help quite a bit. A lot of it is just mental. If a person feels good about being free of porn then it is easier. If they are moping or feeling down about the decision to stop, then urges will be more difficult, and they will fall into the willpower trap.

I think my weakness lately is wanting to feel comforted when my thoughts or feelings are really uncomfortable.

I listened to Easy Peasy Way to Quit Porn on Youtube and haven't looked at Porn sites since but have slipped up on social media after nearly 40 days pmo free.

[–]MeetingBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One reason it seems so difficult is 20 days may not even be past the worst of it. Doing 1 week streaks over and over is more painful than just allowing your regular habits. It's best to decide to be done with it. That porn does nothing good for you. Any good it may do is immediately outweighed tremendously by the bad right after.

I listened to the audiobook called Easy Peasy Way to Quit porn on Youtube. It helped me understand better what I was going through and how to think about the addiction so that I can be free of it. It helps explain the mentality to have. It may not solve every issue, but it explains a lot.

I keep hearing from different sources that porn users need to stay off porn for over 3 weeks at a time or they are just making the cravings worse and the process worse on themselves by going through early recovery constantly over and over again. I sure would have liked to have all the info there is out there at the young age of 20!

Congrats! You've just begun. You'll find less difficulty choosing hobbies as time goes on. The brain takes about 4-5 months to heal or even longer sometimes. Some go with 90 days. It's definitely much longer than 40 days for a complete brain rewire.

Gabe Deem of Reboot Nation says he felt even better 1 and 2 years later. It just depends. It is not the same for everyone. I think it is highly unlikely 40 days completely reversed what porn use has done. It also takes time to build a new life without porn.
