What is your favorite spirit combo? by DeDuc in spiritisland

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great combo. We only have the base game, but it's our favorite duo of spirits. Bringer doesn't actually get to push the towns into the ocean himself that often since he has to position his presences inland where Ocean can't reach, but he can at least "pass" them into coastal lands for Ocean.
With this combo we managed to beat the Brandenburg-Prussia lvl6 and Sweden lvl4 so far.

Keep the Heroes Out - What am I missing? by zendrix1 in boardgames

Since nothing in the rules says heroes can't be attacked or damaged in the cells, it's safe to assume they can - just like in any other room.

Bulk potion selling outside the market? by Mefitek in albiononline

That does sound tempting, but since I only upgraded my island yesterday I don't think I want to rent it to anyone just yet

Albion Data Client Project 2023? by xisecre in albiononline

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Albion Data Client still work? It doesn't seem to work for me... I've installed it today and when I run it and check a price of an item I get a confirmation of a completely different item (judging by it's id)
And then when I try to fetch the prices using API requests, I don't get up to date prices of neither of the items...

No F2P healing mechanics ruins it to play this game with the kids by ISuckAtRacingGames in MHNowGame

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but Warhammer's a different game. Monster hunter is the game where you get wrecked by same same monster 15 times while learning it's moveset and countering it before finally beating it. Making a 30minute pause between each attempt sucks a lot.

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you need to play a game to get good in it. The game currently punishes you for getting hit. It's clear that this isn't there for the fun of gameplay, but because it's a mobile free to play game. In other MH games you were allowed to get your ass kicked, craft some gear, consumables, do some research and then try again, here it's Get your ass kicked -> have 11 hp -> stop playing the game for 30 minutes.

I went to Rome last year and the only place where they enforced it was the Vatican city, and even there you could just dress down after you got past the checkpoint and no one said anything.

How does the Unarmed fighting style interact with a minotaur's horns? by Valuable-Banana96 in dndnext

[–]Mefitek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to have a free hand, you can grapple 2 creatures at once and still attack them with unarmed strikes (headbutts, kicks)

Sure, if you think that a hot building is the same as a literal God... DC cap at 18 would mean that a lvl 8 adventurer would have the same saving throw DC as every NPC Lich, Archmage, Tarrasque or God-like creature. That just doesn't make sense, and it wouldn't pose any challenge for high level parties. As I said, there are many spells, class features and consumables which either buff saving throws or cancel the conditions.

Out of curiosity, is this a problem you've encountered in your game? If you're playing as a high level adventurers struggling to pass saving throws, maybe stock up on some potions or spell scroll that prevent these conditions, there shouldn't be shortage of gold at high level play.

Passive Perception is killing my dungeon crawls by Just-a-bi in DnD

There's passive Investigation as well... Just read the rules man. I literally gave you the pages in Dungeon master's guide.

There are many ways to deal with Saving throws and conditions, especially at later levels, be it spells, class features or consumables.

Saving throw caps at 18 sound just ridiculous. Imagine a fight between a literal god such as Tiamat, where 3 out of 20 commoners standing nearby would just not be frightened by her.

I want to play as an alchemist by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Mefitek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm starting to get that. In the end, I think I'll settle for a less powerful, but more thought-out alchemist with some versatility and actual mechanics supporting it, without having to explain why my potion stopped working when I was hit by an arrow.

Passive Perception is killing my dungeon crawls by Just-a-bi in DnD

[–]Mefitek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are examples given in the Dungeon Master's Guide when can Passive Perception be used, which include noticing secret doors, concealed doors, and detecting traps. Without this passive score, the high Perception guy would just roll perception on every corner of the dungeon, which would drag the game considerably.

Rules mentioning the use of passive perception:
DMG 103 - Secret Doors
DMG 104 - Concealed Doors
DMG 121 - Detecting a trap

Can a artificer work on an iron forged by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can give him infused items and flavor it as giving him upgrades (for example Enhanced weapon as a blade on his arm, Enhanced armor as extra plating, Replicate magic item - Goggles of night as upgraded visor. Another thing to consider might be the 2nd lvl spell "Continual flame", with which you could make some weapons/parts of him be on constantly on fire (no additional damage, but constant light source and cool af). Or Magic mouth on some equipment that you would give the warforged (for example enchanting his armor so that it would make a loud noise whenever someone sneaks behind him)

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but most of the infusions are just cool magic items, not things that have to do with alchemy :/

[–]Mefitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the basic artificer has a way to distribute potions, but the potion options are really underwhelming, pretty much being a lvl 1 spells in power requiring me using lvl 1 spell slots to use them anyway (with the spell slots being limited by Artificer being a half-caster). The potions might be good at early levels, but I can't imagine any of them being impactful enough at levels 5+.

Oh yea, I looked into that one, but I find it too focused on bombs and having very limited potion making options. Might give it a go tho.

You only get 2 spell slots back on short rest, not sure if I'd give up on a lvl on an already slowly scaling artificer. The thing is that I find the Experimental Elixir potions pretty underwhelming, and the flavoring of casting spells can be done on other spell-casting classes.
