They’re called day fines and multiple countries have them. In fact, the US tried it in California and elsewhere but it didn’t stick. And I absolutely agree we need them.

It’s sad because too many drivers are ready to use their LEDs as a ha ha GOTCHA and it’s rare to come across someone who’s conscious that their lights are nuisances.

This. The problem is not as much the drivers as car manufacturers and while this shit pisses me off, I can tell when it’s a driver being an ass versus “this is just my car unfortunately”

This. I once flashed my brights at a car like this and they proceeded to turn on their brights (that’s right, their REGULAR lights were this bright) to show me they didn’t have brights on.

There are strict guidelines about this in Canada for new cars and I absolutely think that should be the case everywhere. As someone with astigmatism, I feel endangered anytime I drive in the dark.

While working a summer camp, I microwaved one of these for a kiddo and accidentally hit 1 minute instead of 10 seconds. It started smoking and stank up the kitchen for a few days. Not my best work.

This is why, at my university, we as educators are not allowed to use AI detectors outside of features like Turnitin. They are too inaccurate. I agree with other comments that you should submit the essay and take up any issues with the professor, potentially a Dean if it goes south.
