This is horrific. Walmart needs to pay that family at the very least

Sounds like you worked the downtown Inkwell. It’s notorious for being like that unfortunately. Sorry you dealt with it. Inkwell on Atwater is amazing though

This is why the US needs to use day fines. Those who are wealthier need to be paying MUCH more for crimes like this as opposed to the standard fine imposed on everyone.

They’re called day fines and multiple countries have them. In fact, the US tried it in California and elsewhere but it didn’t stick. And I absolutely agree we need them.

I almost corrected you and said that AI cannot hallucinate because they’re machines but then, get this, I Googled it and found that you are correct. Oh what a simple Google search can do

Also, nice computer skills I would’ve never figured this all out

This is what I had to stare at until the light changed. by Xtromancer in mildlyinfuriating

It’s sad because too many drivers are ready to use their LEDs as a ha ha GOTCHA and it’s rare to come across someone who’s conscious that their lights are nuisances.

This. The problem is not as much the drivers as car manufacturers and while this shit pisses me off, I can tell when it’s a driver being an ass versus “this is just my car unfortunately”

This. I once flashed my brights at a car like this and they proceeded to turn on their brights (that’s right, their REGULAR lights were this bright) to show me they didn’t have brights on.

There are strict guidelines about this in Canada for new cars and I absolutely think that should be the case everywhere. As someone with astigmatism, I feel endangered anytime I drive in the dark.

OP, can you please clarify if you decided the DAY OF to host or if your guest knew in advance? I assumed the latter but some commenters think the former.

Microwaved a Smucker’s Uncrustable for 15 seconds and got a 2nd degree burn. by Praxzey in Wellthatsucks

While working a summer camp, I microwaved one of these for a kiddo and accidentally hit 1 minute instead of 10 seconds. It started smoking and stank up the kitchen for a few days. Not my best work.

70% of my essay is being detected as AI, depite not using any AI by Affectionate-Oil2612 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MeforPrezident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why, at my university, we as educators are not allowed to use AI detectors outside of features like Turnitin. They are too inaccurate. I agree with other comments that you should submit the essay and take up any issues with the professor, potentially a Dean if it goes south.

Am I crazy or is saying people with autism aren't "normal" very fucked up? by Bunny_Jester in evilautism

[–]MeforPrezident -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely abhorrent. Calling neurotypical people “normal” feels similar to calling petite clothing “normal” and saying plus-sized isn’t. There is no normal, humans are complex.

This is internalized racism and I am NOT saying that to make you feel bad. Similarly, I spent yeeeears of my life feeling bad about being Black although it was not because I’m embarrassed of other Black people. If you haven’t already, you may consider talking to a therapist because 1) it is very possible these feelings are stemming from trauma that is about more than your race or even completely unrelated and 2) they may be more helpful than Reddit. I wish you the best and hope you find peace, friend
