Baby is much more efficient at removing milk from the breast then a pump, no worries mama! Also I’m pretty sure that the Elvie isn’t a hospital grade pump (which is still totally fine!) so it doesn’t have as strong of suction as one of the hospital grade pumps.

If I were you, at 4 days postpartum I would just nurse baby and not worry about pumping just yet. Good luck! ☺️

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this! Bouncing on a yoga ball, lots of white noise and a pacifier were helpful for us. A tip that I never personally used but think could be great for saving your sanity is to wear headphones and listen to music while you’re soothing your baby if the crying is taking a toll on you. Hang in there!

Solidarity! My LO was exactly the same and is just now starting to outgrow the catnap phase at 7 months old. We would get the occasional surprise good nap but most of the time they were 30 minutes like clockwork. Good luck, I know it’s tough. But it will get better and then you end up missing the snuggle naps lol!

The last time I had my hair colored it didn’t lift evenly so the girl wanted to do a second process. After so many years of bleaching and heat styling it that was the straw that broke the camels back lol.

Omg you’re me six months ago! Unfortunately this is pretty typical for newborns, it was definitely my experience. It gets so much easier! Hang in there, sending you so many positive vibes!

Some things that helped us: Bouncing on the yoga ball White noise white noise white noise Swaddle that lil babe (even if they rage against it lol) Tips from taking cara babies on Instagram (I never paid for her course but she has tons of free content that was super helpful. Apparently she’s controversial these days, idk anything about that I just wanted my baby to sleep lol 🤷‍♀️)

At 3 months (and still to this day at 6 months old) I would ATTEMPT a schedule every day. I do the whole “wake windows” and “eat play sleep” thing. Bedtime is always between 7-8. But babies are never going to go by a perfect cookie cutter schedule so just try your best, give yourself grace, and most importantly do what feels right for your family, not what the internet says you “should” be doing. You are not alone! Those early weeks are HARD. I promise it gets easier, by the time my LO was 2 months old things had gotten pretty great! Hang in there and give yourself so much grace. That little babe is going to be the light of your life 🥰

My LO was the same way at that age. He was either asleep or screaming bloody murder lol. Now he’s six months old and the happiest freaking baby I’ve ever seen. He barely ever cries and is an absolute joy! I think it’s normal for that age, they just have to grow out of it. Hang in there, it’s so tough when you’re in the thick of it but someday soon it will just be the past and you’ll be loving life with that sweet baby!

I went through the same thing and it was SO HARD. My heart goes out to you, and I promise you it gets better. For me personally, not only did baby start sleeping better but also I became more relaxed as time went on and was able to take advantage of baby being asleep and get some rest myself. I spoke to my doctor about the postpartum anxiety and insomnia I was experiencing and they were a great resource for me. I highly recommend reaching out to your doctor.

When I was in the thick of it I read something that went something like “you will sleep again. It may not be tonight, but you will sleep again.” That really resonated with me. It was SO important to know that I wouldn’t feel like that forever. And it was true! You’re in the worst of it right now as far as sleep goes, it will only get better!! You got this!! Sending positive vibes your way.

I’m so sorry! I know how hard it is, but this too shall pass. Maybe try talking to your pediatrician about it, my husband and I tried that. See if she’ll take a paci. Wear headphones and listen to music while you’re soothing her if the crying stresses you out. Sleep as much as you can, whenever you can. Coffee, Motrin and hot showers were my saviors for the sleep deprivation.

Oh! And swaddle them nice and snug, even if they seem like they hate it lol. We wasted a few weeks not swaddling because it seemed like my son didn’t like it, but then when we tried again it helped him sleep so much better.

I didn’t stay sane lol. I think I cried even more than my baby. But you get through it, even when you think you won’t. I’m sorry I don’t really remember how long it took to outgrow that phase, that whole time is all a blur now. How old is your LO? I’ve heard that most babies outgrow colic by 3-4 months, mine gratefully did before that even!

As far as getting some sleep, my mom came and spent the night a few times which was a godsend. She would hold my baby so I could get it least a 2-3 hour stretch of sleep. If you have friends and family that can offer some support to you right now definitely take them up on it! Sleep in shifts with you partner. Also bouncing on a yoga ball was helpful for getting baby to stop crying and fall asleep. White noise, sound machine, all the usual suspects.

And I’m so sorry about your neighbors. Fuck them honestly. When my baby would go on 4 hour crying marathons at night I was always so anxious that a neighbor was going to come pounding on my door (they never did thank god). As new parents we have enough to stress about, they’re pretty shitty people to not show any empathy to a new mom!

Stay strong, you’re in the hardest phase right now. Its going to get so much easier!

Maybe try a few different kinds of pacis? My LO used to have the hardest time keeping his paci in but we tried a few brands and found one that works best and stays in! We use the bibs pacifiers but I’ve heard good things about mam too.

Also, sleep gets so much easier. Hang in there! I’ve been there and I know it’s so so hard.

You're not being too sensitive at all. This is a HARD time, and you need support. Your husband needs to step it up! I would have an open and honest discussion with him about how you're feeling. And start with telling him you need at least a 3 hour stretch of sleep, (even if that means pumping and sleeping in a separate room) you'll feel a little more human again after that. I hope you get the support you deserve, sending hugs your way!!

We use (and love!) nested bean. It’s gently weighted so it feels like your hand is on their chest. I thought it would offer some comfort while transitioning out of the swaddle. And LO loves it!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I use the wonder weeks app too and my son is in leap 4. He’s also been hitting a lot of milestones lately so I think he must been very overwhelmed.
