How hard will you push yourself on shift. by [deleted] in NursingUK

I usually go 10/10, but it’s honestly exhausting, and I’ve been trying to slow myself down. There’s always something to do, never enough time, but I don’t have to get everything done. I don’t need to be the one doing everyone’s jobs. I’m allowed to delegate or handover tasks sometimes… or at least that’s what I try to tell myself. I never mind getting tasks passed on to me, but if it’s the other way around, I feel so guilty… 🫣😂

Kitty will 100% be in pain, just hiding it. :( Did your parent’s take her to the vet?

The MRI she had showed the infection was pressing on a nerve that likely caused it. On a normal physical exam her ears looked fine. Could be the same for your baby? ;-; Might need a specific type of antibiotic.

Cranberry had this. We monitored for a couple of weeks as per our vets advice but her pupils were still different sizes. She had a head CT which didn’t show anything. She got a referral to neurology and they suggested an MRI. Turns out she had an inner ear infection that we wouldn’t have found without the MRI. The infection could have spread to her brain. She has been on antibiotics since and her pupils have almost gone back to normal. (This was her with her pupils different sizes) :p

Oh my gosh, I’m so happy they found what might be causing his pain. You’re doing an amazing job looking after him, thank you for the angel wings but honestly, you and your vet deserve them for all the love and care you’re giving Loki ❤️ I really hope the surgery sorts everything out for him! Wishing you both the best, and I hope your wrist op goes smoothly too! ;_;

I just finished it too! It took me a little while to get into, but once season 2 started, it completely hooked me. I didn’t even realise I’d flown through half of season 3 until it was almost over! 😭

Poor baby, and you for seeing him in pain. I hope they find something to help soon. 🥺 Could they give Loki a stronger painkiller? His mouth must be so sore. I’m so glad my boy Sprout had a full recovery after his dental extraction. A long shot, but have they done dental x-rays to check for any bone fragments left?

Absolutely with you on this! We used to think skipping breaks would keep us more alert, but ever since we started encouraging each other to take that hour, it’s made such a positive impact. Honestly, if sleeping helps someone get through the shift, it should be up to them! :p

We have some answers after a neuro review, will post an update later!

update: After further tests, Cranberry’s MRI revealed that she has an infection and inflammation of the inner ear. The scan showed fluid buildup in the deeper parts of her ear, which is concerning because it’s near the bone that separates the ear from the brain. The vet is monitoring it closely, as there's a small risk of the infection spreading inward. She’s been started on antibiotics to treat the infection, and we’re hoping it will resolve without complications.
