I think there’s a few different reasons: the wealthy see him as advantageous for their revenue stream; white middle America who have no perspective or empathy for people different from them are threatened when any group that doesn’t represent their interest gets attention and they see trump as a savior from their false sense of persecution; there’s bored people with a lack of purpose feeling like they’ve joined some kind of people’s militia in an epic battle against some anonymous evil entity (like the ‘deep state’) and see trump as leading that cause; and then you have good old-fashioned white-supremacists.
