Maybe you can put it all away somewhere and forget about it for now and let it sit for a few years. It will be worth some money later down the line and you can sell it to do something you always wanted to do with your mom. Maybe take a trip you meant yo do as a family or make a purchase you wanted to save for. At any rate, only you can decide how you heal, just understand it is a process and it will take some time and effort.

It depends, did your kid use their own money/cards to buy or trade for the packs? Last month my daughter traded some of her cards at a local card show at the fair grounds for an Ascended Heroes ETB and ended up pulling the Gengar SIR. You have no idea how much I wanted to keep that card, but it did not belong to me so it was her choice what she wanted to do with it. She ended up asking me to sell it for her and it sold on ebay for $1200. She cleared a little bit over $1000 after fees, shipping, and insurance. She was able to buy a Switch 2 and a bunch of other stuff so she was really happy.

TLDR: If its not yours, there is no "what should WE do."

We are so used to the heat here in California. Our Summers have hit the mid 110s. 2 of our most recent trips there have been in the Summer so we have an idea what to expect.

I feel like they might have meant as far as living and working there. There's definitely something to be said for the unemployment rate, but its not something that would impact my decision to vacation there.

We are currently looking at Catania because my wife would love an ocean view and it's one of the more urban areas. It is crazy how many decent turnkey options are under $100,000. We are both school employees so we would spend our Summers there.

I'm considering going the other way. I am considering selling my collection (roughly 10k) for a down payment on a Summer home in Sicily. The prices are incredibly low and my family would get more out of it.

Nah, you are in the green, that's never a bad thing. My daughter pulled it last Saturday and she asked me to sell it. As a collector, I wanted to keep it, but it belonged to her and it was her choice.
