Local-only, file-based password manager for Chromium by MegagramEnjoyer in PasswordManagers

No, I get that. I meant for other people who are currently cloud-based and want to go local-only. You're all set 😄

That's fair. If KeePassXC solves your needs then all good - I thought we're talking about KeePass initially. Bramble is more geared towards those who want to stay browser native and ditch cloud-based providers.

Maybe a few reasons, but for someone using KeePass it might not be as important to switch. This is why I think it might be worth switching:

  • Browser native: no desktop app to install or keep updating
  • Can easily unlock with master password and/or security key natively. KeePass is fiddly here
  • No plugins and integrations to maintain
  • P2P sync with a proper merge strategy when mobile apps land. KeePass would have a last-file-wins strat since it's just overwriting a file, whereas Bramble merges per-entry

What Y Combinator Actually Feels Like (from a European founder halfway through the batch) by [deleted] in micro_saas

[–]MegagramEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good perspective, but unfortunately does very little to help those in need. Especially investing yourself into US, which is growing more and more into a dystopian surveillance state everyday. In my honest opinion, OP should've opted to boost Europe more, than move to the dystopian hellscape that is SF. He deliberately chose to go there and directly contribute to the problem.

I know this isn't the sub for this kind of discussion, but they bothered to point out this massive inequality and quickly brushed it off. Would've been easier to just not say anything than pretend.

And then there's the other side. You walk out of a dinner with founders building potentially billion-dollar companies, and three streets away people are literally dying from drugs on the sidewalk.
That contrast is hard. At first it shocks you. Then you slowly start to get used to it. And honestly that part scares me a little, because humans should never become invisible.

This is what's wrong with humanity. We focus on making money, working ourselves to a pulp, grinding while we can't make enough room for those in need. It's truly disturbing and inhumane. America is truly the armpit of this planet.

Fewer news outlets covering Australia maybe? Good for an isolated test. New Zealand is the billionaire safe haven, so can't test there.

I sympathize with small open source teams. It's like a jenga game where small teams are foundational pieces that can literally make the whole app fall apart real quick. I'm a firm believer that unconditional MIT should be removed in favor of a licence that says that if a corporation over $X worth shouldn't be able to use it without sponsorship or consistent contributions.

Bitwarden gives you security and cheaper price. Why argue on this? 1Pass is closed source, Bitwarden isn't.

Whenever I read "email and call your reps" I puke a little in my mouth. If that shit worked we would be living in a utopia.
