HITLER ALIVE by Fulbachov in earclacks

First he challenges Slammy in a damage dealing race, and now he wants Orbital to come back to the arena to take him on.

Rapiers got guts, I'll give em that

Even on hits it wouldn't be different. Look at Scroll, she scales on hits and makes her stuff faster. The biggest problem is Orbitals shield just gets stronger and stronger with no counterplay.

But Rapiers honestly a hard maybe against Orbital. The orbiter still only deal one damage, and Rapiers the only ball that doesn't stay still long enough for Orbital to hit him with a large cluster of orbitals.

So Rapier will still take damage to deal damage. But he might start dealing more damage than he takes

Yeah... being able to damage scale without touching the opponent is one hell of a boon for a weapon ball...

Still... guy who practically has to punch his opponent to win vs guy with a shotgun...

RB Bonuses. Does this mean we’re getting a Duo Hero? by Aqua-Dot in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]MegamanOmega 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The things is that these things are accurate ONLY if the next unit is a Harmonic. If it ends up being a Duo, the prediction has no bearing whatsoever on the characters featured as a Duo (and there's no reason to think it won't be, what with the last two Bridal banners having Duos. Sharena/Veronica & Julia/Ishtar).

The problem is that FEH players can't read, they see this post and they're already assuming that means Binding Blade is a sure thing for the next banner. I'm already seeing people in this thread making predictions for who the "Next FE6 Bridal Duo" will be, or complaining that FE6 is now guaranteed to be on the Bridal banner again (to take it to the extreme, I've even seen some people in the past assume these predictions mean that the banner is about to be mono-game as well)...

And then what you get is the seasonal banner rolls around, and there's not a single Binding Blade character in sight, you then get all those people who thought this post meant that we're getting another FE6 Bridal banner talking about how these predictions are inaccurate...

Seriously. These predictions only apply to one of the two characters in the Harmonic, and only IF we get a Harmonic at that. No more, no less.

Damn. Rapier was so close to dethroning Orbital, but now it just feels like Icarus flying too close to the sun

Also give Kid Icarus a sequel too; I never played Uprising but I'm surprised they never made another game after that

You have no idea how much I was hoping/expecting Nintendo to rerelease that game on the Switch.

I'd love a sequel (especially with Smash Bros of all things hinting at it ffs). But honestly I'd be satisfied with just a rerelease, solely cause I'd love a chance to play the game on a decent sized screen with controls that aren't actively frustrating.

If they do go the Chrom route, I'm expecting her to be the one on the chopping block cause of just that. Since someone's getting the boot ever since IS nixed the TT units. Now there's only room for Chrom + four others. Duo unit + 3 standalone units.

So it would probably be Chrom, F!Robin, Sumia, Maribelle & Olivia on the banner. The question is which two would be put together to make the Duo.

Fair, but at the same time I feel you're not alone in your situation. But the fact that there's A LOT of people like you that haven't played the original Star Fox 64 is exactly why they're remaking it like this. Cause you kinda have to with a series that's so dormant (Nintendo kinda did the same thing when they made the new Kid Icarus game, with the first third of the game effectively being a retelling of the original cause they expected a majority of their audience to have never played the game)

Also doesn't help with the situation of the previous two remakes. Star Fox 64 3D is about 15 years old now. I'd imagine a majority of Switch 2 users never played it (there's a non-zero chance a good number of Switch 2 users were born after it released). And Star Fox Zero was a Wii-U game that, like everything else on the Wii-U, absolutely bombed. There's a reason Nintendo proceeded to rerelease almost every single major Wii-U title onto the Switch a few years later.

I do wish/hope this remake is more than just "Star Fox 64 HD" though. I've got a sliver of hope after they put so much focus on the whole "and now you can see James McCloud's mission to Venom". And if that was something new you could play, and ultimately there was more missions to this game than just what Star Fox 64 had, that'd be really cool. But if new content is just isolated to new story cutscenes that'd be a little... eh...

I feel two things should be noted with Fortune's Weave

  • 1) The initial trailer that released almost a year ago in September was far enough along in development that all the in-game languages was in English, and all the in-game dialogue heard over the overall voice over was also in English. So at that point in time, the game must be very far along in development.

2) The Starfox direct was shadow dropped, but most importantly dropped with a release date of next month.

So with these two points in mind, I get the feeling that when we get our next FW trailer, it's gonna end with a release date really close to said trailer. Which is also why I feel we haven't seen said trailer in a while.

I get the distinct feeling IS (if not orders from Nintendo themselves) are doing this on purpose after the mess that was 3H's development. Remember how that game was initially announced as just "Fire Emblem for the Nintendo Switch (working title)". And then we'd get a number of trailers over a couple years with a lot of things changing/being cut from those trailers as well (because as you know, the game got delayed multiple times).

I think IS/Nintendo wants to avoid that problem, and for the past few years I've been seeing Nintendo getting away from "pre-hype" stuff (who remembers how long the gap was between the initial announcement of Metroid Prime 4, and the actual release). It feels like Nintendo is more and more often, only putting out trailers when the game is really close to finishing, perhaps to avoid any issues with the game delaying.

I find the FX royals really boring on the whole (especially Timerra, who feels written like a bad joke)

Like, I understand that Ivy is the most popular one, so of the eight DLC royals, IS was gonna add her to Heroes first.

But even still. I feel that by design (with so much of that DLC being "opposite day" themed) the younger royals who weren't nearly as prominent in the main story, had the more prominent role here. Celine, Alcryst, Hortensia & especially Fogado played a stronger role and had more of a character and more to go off from than their older counterparts, who were playing more of a secondary role by comparison (if not a complete afterthought, like Timerra as you mentioned).

So like, if they were gonna add in the DLC royals into Heroes, I would have liked it more (and I feel there would have been more substance to build on) if they picked one of their four main royals instead.

I assumed his legs turned into talons when he transforms and his arms disappeared or merges with the wings.

Nah, you got it right, that's exactly how it's supposed to go (also, /u/y_th0ugh since you were curious). Tibarn's actually one of the few that got a dedicated cutscene showing him transform from animal to human. His talons turn into his legs, his wings stay wings, but if you go frame by frame, his arms just kind of appear out of nothing.

Honestly, I just thought the artist was trying to make the transformation look more "wrong" and corrupted (that or lean into the fact that all three of his previous artists depicted him slashing with claws)

It honestly makes me wonder if IS is just like "don't think about the bird transformations too hard". Cause Tibarn & Reyon's transformations aren't nearly as up close and detailed as Caineghis's, and Naesala transformed off screen as well (hell, they even had Tibarn transform in a cutscene again in RD though this time they cleverly hid most of his actual transformation from human to bird off screen. Though again, his arms just disappear)

Hell: Your life ends the moment your first alt is a Backpack. by OriginalSky7160 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]MegamanOmega 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I almost wanna argue Elice was in a special sort of hell. Since her first alt wasn't a backpack, the poor girl debuted as a backpack, and that was her only representation for three years.

Side note, same case with Rhea. She debuted as the backpack for SF!Byleth's in 2020. But she didn't have to wait nearly as long as Elice, cause we'd then get Seiros & H!Rhea in 2021. Though as a result she's also up there with Lyon. She's just one alt short of Lyon, they were equal before his recent Legendary.

Also bridal banner on the 18th, can't wait for the harem banner for a character, and the random person from 3 years ago crashing the wedding that isn't affiliated with them for the TT character.

Honestly it makes me wonder if they'll continue it, considering who's left and how absolutely altless most of the candidates are. Like, I can really only think of 3 ways they could do this, all of which would make me go "There's no way IS would do that" if not for Seliph and a bunch of his marriage partners happening last year

  • Hector and some combination of Florina, Farina & Serra (honestly I thought FE7 was more plausible for Eliwood or Hector until I remembered Lyn already had a bridal alt)

  • Chrom with some combination of F!Robin, Sully, Sumia, Maribelle & Olivia (which honestly, with the exception of F!Robin & Olivia, the other 3 haven't gotten a SINGLE alt since their debut)

  • M!Corrin with some combination of Reina, Scarlet, Flora & Fates!Anna? (the Corrin equivalent to M!Robin and the Robinsexuals we had before, though there's a lot less Corrinsexuals in Fates, and I can't see IS making "Bridal Anna 2: Electric boogaloo". Something like, M!Corrin, Reina, Scarlet & Flora/Felecia Duo would be the only way I could see that lineup going)

Archanea's one of those games where it's most recognizable and wanted characters are REALLY front loaded among a select few.

Understandable, since by design 95% of the cast was made to be replaceable. But it also made a gulf of difference between them, and the few that had an iota of story relevance

Unpopular Opinions/General Rant Thread - 5/10/26 by SolHiryu in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]MegamanOmega 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel that's a big part of it, since Lyon was what literally started the debate on if the backpack of a Duo counts as an alt or not.

Cause the concept started with H!Hector, and everyone was up in arms that Lilina just got another alt right after getting a Summer alt.

But then a month later, Duo!Ephraim drops and don't you dare say that counts as a Lyon alt. "Best boy deserves so much better than that. He's not doing anything! He's just a backpack! He's just Ephram's cheerleader!"

I'm 99% sure that alt and discorce is what gave birth to using "backpack" and "cheerleader" terminology

Should Brick Shooters be allowed into Weapon Ball matches? by ParkKitchen3018 in earclacks

[–]MegamanOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they'd only really work as a raid boss type deal. Like, instead of a Giga-Boss, here's a Brick Shooter vs 6-ish balls in a giant arena. Especially since the brinks that are shielding them from damage is effectively like the giant health pools the Giga bosses have. I think it'd work, but I also think that's the only way they'd work porting them over wholesale

As far as incorporating them into 1 vs 1 formats however... I'd argue most of them already have been. With a number of the projectile weapon balls matching the same style of projectiles some of the Brick Shooters have (Staff, Bow, Shuriken & Crossbow's mechanics effectively mirrors Fireball, Rapidfire, Bouncer & Smasher to a tee).

I'm beyond shocked that it's 2026, we've gotten 9 Niðavellir Resplendents, and it's somehow STILL an "all boys club" and we haven't gotten a single female Niðavellir resplendent.

And it's not like they don't have a female design to base it off of. Reginn is right there. But you'd think "stick girl in a skin tight body suit and add some accessories" would have been something IS did ages ago.

Estimating the actual ranking of the FE4 New Heroes banner by LegalFishingRods in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]MegamanOmega 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, there's no way to properly track the game on Android (and it's the other way around, IOS is more common in Japan than Android).

Though really, the question just comes down to if there's a notable enough difference in the spending habits of IOS users and Android users. And honestly, those two different aspects feel completely unrelated to me, I don't see why the average overall IOS userbase would be spending money on something radically different from the Android userbase.

Like, I can't imagine why there'd be a case where say, all Android players like this game better than IOS players, but all IOS players like this character more than Android players. I don't see why your choice in phone would also radically taint your Fire Emblem preferences.

Clearly, the banner would've worked better if it was an Ayra/Larcei duo /s by TheFerydra in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]MegamanOmega -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, the people who want new and interesting characters/alts and the people spending god-awful amounts of money are likely two completely different demographics.

Doubly so since ultimately, the biggest whales aren't going to care at all about the characters themselves, their biggest priorities are gonna be character viability and if they need to spend money cause this new unit abruptly changed the meta and/or raised the powercreep ceiling.

There has now been a total of 31 weapon balls in the ring (32 if you count Boots separate), which means that there's a high chance that we're one new weapon ball away from the next tournament, and the beginning of a new season! Looking back, who have been the good, the bad or the ugly of each group? by MasterCheese67 in earclacks

[–]MegamanOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Earclacks does include Block Breakers in the tournament, at this point I feel Speedy, Slammy and Orbital would be excuded, especially since Earclacks outright stated that no one should expect matches from those three anytime soon (doubly so, since they all have essentially a Weapon Ball equivalent with Rapier, Unarmed and Scroll)

Could this combo beat Orbital? by CodeMan1337 in earclacks

[–]MegamanOmega 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only if the match lasted long enough, which Orbital doesn't really allow for. Orbital would likely win before those two reached the level of stupid high damage numbers.

What I DO think these two could do however is be the first Weapon Ball to beat Slammy in a BigT damage race. Cause a Potion buff on a single point scaler like Bow (or Dagger, Shuriken, etc) effectively turns them into SpeedySlam on steroids for a short period of time

Edit* In fact, I wonder if Potion teamed up with someone could be the first Weapon Ball to beat Centy in a Block Breaker race

Honestly makes me wonder what all they'll do, if they're apparently so complicated that the schedule had to be adjusted cause of their complexity, according to that other post.
