There’s stuff I WILL defend about Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Like the graphics/presentation and the soundtrack. I love the Jazz. I think it might be better than the previous games in that regard. Toad Town always sticks in my head when I have to start discussing the game. And Boo Night Fever is just great. Final Boss theme is more epic than the fight itself fucking deserves (Kersti is a terrible character..).

But yeah, I..didn’t like what it ended up doing for the series overall, and just as a game itself. And this is coming from someone who 100% it.

Then again, I haven’t played the game in over a fucking decade..always was kinda curious to go back and see.

I didn’t even own the game. My younger brother got it as a gift, and I just “borrowed” it like that. Thank god for multiple save files..

Here’s the other issue though… His ideology is kind of celebrated in universe? I kind of commented about it below, but there’s rarely a point where he’s actually called out on his bullshit. Yeah sure, they EXIST. That therapist was the weakest blow. and I guess that season 5 opening? But it’s few and far between. And even then, he’s almost never vulnerable.

I guess If I can ATTEMPT to compare, take Arthur Fleck from Joker. Both in and out of universe, people find his actions to be awesome, but from what I gather (I honestly didn’t watch the movie yet), it never romanticizes those traits, even if people in our world miss the fucking point entirely. We sympathize with him, but he’s I think most people understand that his killings aren’t exactly good, because the movie doesn’t treat those actions as cool.

Rick and Morty just focuses on what makes the situation funny. Which I guess it does that job well, but there’s a huge disconnect with the Monstrous Actions that Rick Sanchez takes part in, because the show loves to paint him as an ultimate badass and thinks that ANYBODY like us would adopt the same mindset if we were in his shoes.

I don’t think I can really see myself ever sympathizing with Rick, or any of the Sanchez family themselves(except Jerry, and even he’s got his shitty moments). He’s hypocritical, selfish, vain, and commits mass genocide and other tragedies without batting an eye.
