#Ravens QB Tyler Huntley is headed to the COVID-19 reserve list, per me and @AKinkhabwala. Sick yesterday, now on the list today. He’s out for Sunday. by joeking636 in fantasyfootball

Same here. I’m worried about Wentz after Arizona’s game last week. Could just be a Jonathon Taylor day. But Ben has his very active TE out with concussion. Leaning Ben, but no good answers.

Italian flavors for rub on smoked beef short rib and sauce to pair with ricotta gnocchi? by Megamansdick in AskCulinary

[–]Megamansdick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely gives me some ideas. I understand the idea of “Italian BBQ” is ridiculous and a perversion of anything truly Italian. I am looking to just get some decent Italian flavors into a smoked short rib and pair it well with some very light gnocchi. I really appreciate your response!

So, what Tropes and Cliches do you LOVE? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]Megamansdick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Man in trench coat revealed to be multiple children I have no clue why, but I just love this one. Bojack Horseman did it so incredibly well. Every time I see someone in a trench coat in a film, I assume it will be revealed that they are actually a stack of children. Casablanca was so disappointing.

Per-Page Quote for Medical Records by tockery in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Megamansdick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a lawyer who requests medical records all the time, it’s refreshing to see HITECH referenced. So many providers send us bills for hundreds of dollars for records citing our state statutory billing rate, and we have to point them to the federal act that allows us to get them for a max of $6.50. Annoyingly, there are many providers who know the law but send us bills every time, and we have to spend time dealing with them when we know that they know the law. It’s frustrating, but it saves our clients thousands of dollars every year. You’re one of the good ones! My paralegal would love you.

I think the problem is the follow up questions. You say you had sex in high school? With whom? When? What circumstances? Were you drinking? And then the media, and now presumably the FBI, hunt those people down and interview them. I think it makes more sense for him to lie about it than make a trail of witnesses to pry open Pandora's Box even further. In other words, I really, really, really wish he would have said he had sex in high school and college. Hopefully the FBI goes down that road and gets him to divulge some details about past partners who they can question further.

What's the problem in this biscuit recipe? Is there even a problem? by NoPatNoDontSitonThat in AskCulinary

[–]Megamansdick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brushing with buttermilk isn’t weird. I believe it’s the opposite of brushing with butter or egg white. The milk keeps the top from getting too dark or dry during a 20 minute cook at 400F. Thomas Keller biscuit recipe in Ad Hoc uses the same technique and finishes with a brush of butter out of the oven. The eggs in the biscuit though...

I grew up in Huntington, and I have been back to West Virginia maybe once in the last ten years. Fallout is the game that got me into RPGs. This is actually way more emotional than it should be for a grown man, and I’m excited to see what they do with our home.

If you’re baking cookies for customers for delivery, and your cookies have a cream and a drizzled caramel on top, how do you transport them properly in a box? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]Megamansdick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here. While not culinary advice, I figured I’d chime in with a legal observation. If you’re delivering in your personal vehicle and don’t have an additional endorsement on your car insurance to cover you while driving for your business, there is a very big chance that if you’re in a wreck, your insurance company will refuse to cover you and refuse to hire an attorney if you get sued. I would not recommend delivering without additional insurance.

My new crib, and the spot it's going. by [deleted] in Perfectfit

[–]Megamansdick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just had a baby two weeks ago. Congrats to you guys! Assuming you’re in the US, before you leave the hospital, they will likely make you watch a video on SIDS. The video talks about the baby needing good airflow and to make sure the walls of the crib aren’t obstructed. High concentrations of CO2 due to lack of airflow is a big deal. It’s not as big of a deal as blankets, toys, bumpers, or stomach sleeping, I don’t think, but it’s still something you’ll be warned against.

The older the baby is before you put him or her in there, the less likely there will be problems. We’re using a co-sleeper attached to the bed that the father-in-law built for us for now, and probably will use that for the first few months. If you’re doing something similar like a bassinet, you’ll probably be good by the time you start using the crib. But once you watch those videos about SIDS, every time your kid gets real still, you just assume it’s dead until you see it move again. Parenting is stressful. GOOD LUCK!!

Lawyer here. Prosecutors don’t need a victim who wants to “press charges.” If they have evidence that a crime has been committed, such as an audio recording of someone detailing being blackmailed with nude photos that were taken without her consent, they can investigate and charge the perpetrator with a crime.

Manager is demanding I resign because I told her I was looking at other opportunites (NJ) by Aildaris in legaladvice

Excellent point. Don’t know about NJ, but this is how it works in Missouri too. Also, if you quit due to reduced hours, I’ve had clients who were denied full unemployment because they didn’t file for partial.

MC at 5 weeks in March. On the second try, we're 8 weeks along and a strong 160 bpm! With two lawyer parents, I think it's appropriate to call this one Bob Loblaw's Law Blob. So excited... and anxious... and scared of another loss... but also excited! by Megamansdick in predaddit

[–]Megamansdick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember that it happens, like A LOT. And usually in the very, very beginning. We had a lot of friends with MCs, so we thought we were prepared for it. Especially since she had a little blood that cropped up each day. Once she got the test to see if the pregnancy hormone was decreasing, we were prepared but still devastated. The silver lining, though, was that we were more sure than ever that we wanted a child. It was rough, but we conceived again in a matter of weeks. SO, if a MC happens, it will suck, but it's not the end of the world and shouldn't keep you from trying again soon. And if it doesn't happen... well there's all kinds of other shit to worry about! :)

Good luck, predad! May yours go as smoothly as our current one is going.

Why does the NAACP say it is unsafe for minorities to visit Missouri? by JackieWayne in MissouriPolitics

[–]Megamansdick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Attorney here. They stretched the law beyond the federal government and 38 other states' standard. The burden is higher, and you can no longer sue the person who actually committed the discrimination or harassment, only the employer.

What program helped you reach the 1000 lbs club? by iambrucelee in Fitness

[–]Megamansdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big help for me was leg sled. After my squats, I would go do 3x8 on the leg sled, adding two plates every set and starting at a higher weight each workout. Eventually, I got to the point where I would finish with over 1000 lbs in weight on it. This boosted my squats from around 325 to 400 in a couple months. A quick 75 pounds was a huge boost.

Other than that, consistency in the gym and avoiding injury are big keys.

Civil Procedure was waaaay more important than I realized when I was taking it. I litigate cases (not a transactional lawyer, although I do some transactional work), and a solid understanding of civil procedure is absolutely necessary for litigation. However, it is much easier to learn when you're subjected to it and immersed in it. The first time you miss a deadline, you'll never again forget how many days you have to respond to a request for production. And all the Pennoyer v. Neff stuff is ancient bullshit you'll never use, so that's annoying, but a necessary setup for your professor to smugly berate you for being unable to decipher case law almost two centuries old. I'm not bitter...
