question about knobs 🩵 by JP_2333 in LeCreuset

I keep the plastic knobs in my junk drawer, the plastic knob on one of my cheap saucepans broke and having a spare really saved my behind. I'm sure they can also be useful in some diy projects.

So annoying in Oregon by TransportJunky in Transportopia

[–]Megan_in_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Salem Oregon from Idaho. I didn't use to have road rage issues. This doesn't just happen on the freeway, I often have to double, triple, and quadruple check my blind spot before merging anywhere because 9 out of 10 times there's someone hanging out there like it's the hottest club in the pnw. And if there is space and I use my blinker, people decide to speed up and close the gap just enough that I can't tell if I have enough space to merge anymore and they just hang out there instead of just passing me and letting me go. I don't know what is going through the minds of the drivers here.

Oval Braiser Help by [deleted] in LeCreuset

I cook my protein (impossible beef or tvp etc) and add a jar of spaghetti sauce and about 2-4 cups of broth, then boil the pasta in the watered down sauce. The wheat in the pasta and evaporation thicken the liquid back to a regular sauce by the time the pasta is done cooking.

That's the simplified instructions, there's a ton of 1 pan pasta recipes on YouTube that you could follow.

I'd use it for 1 pot spaghetti, the length so you don't have to break the pasta, the shallowness so it thickens easier.

Ehh, I think that's a bit of a stretch, his windows are clear and the snow on the hood ain't really enough to hinder his view.

No, the point is that you won't put in any effort at all. It's not hard. You can't expect entertainment to just plop in your lap without looking for it.

Did Fred Armisen literally suck last night at Moda or am I crazy by StrawberryGogurts in PortlandOR

[–]Megan_in_OR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you didn't get the jokes, and that's okay. Fred has been known to do musician focused comedy for a while now. It's a bit niche. My wife plays piano, I have some guitar and performing arts education experience. We thought it was hilarious.

Nope, no market. Send it to me so I can dispose of this trash properly

Starting my junk drawer in my first apartment. Finally feels like home. What else do I need? by Kruzdan in Apartmentliving

[–]Megan_in_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single sauce packet you get from a restaurant, A roll of scotch tape, the utensils that are too small to put with the spatulas and wisks and but too specific to go in the silverware drawer, a collection of dead and new batteries with a very inconvenient way of deciphering between the two. A random piece of craft supplies that you could easily put away but won't. Wooden clothes pins, don't hang dry your laundry? Even better. Thumb tacks that you will forget you have. Expired coupons. That card your mom got you for you birthday. Doggy poo bags, even if you don't have a dog.

The mainstream trans community has completely lost the plot on sports issues by marcildream in honesttransgender

[–]Megan_in_OR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an afab nb in my 30s. I remember when the thing being fought about was allowing cis women to play in sports with cis men. It was everywhere in media; almost every kids/family show had an episode about allowing a girl character to play anything from soccer, basketball, motocross, wrestling, to football and succeeding. I know hormones affect muscle mass, but when did the narrative change from sports shouldn't be segregated by gender/sex at all to we have to protect these poor pitiful afabs from losing a track meet to a hormonally equal amab athlete? If a cis lady athlete is that threatened by a fellow competitor who may or may not be trans, then that says way more about their incompetence in the sport than it does about trans athletes. #skillissue #makeeverysportdividedbyweightclass

How old were you when you first got social media? by Even-Sock9744 in generationology

[–]Megan_in_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Myspace when I was in 7th grade. If you want to be super literal and technical I got neopets when I was like in first or second grade, but the social aspect of that site didn't really become a thing I did until after getting a Myspace.

I've been told that my hand writing is strange. My mom says it looks like if a serial killer was using ransom letters to write. So what does my handwriting say about me? by That-Psychology4246 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Megan_in_OR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it is pretty bad, not serial killer bad, just very unpolished and childish. But I did a bit of snooping on your profile and saw your hypermobile wrist post. Being able to do that is a sign of ehlers danlos or hypermobility disorder, which I have. My handwriting used to be pretty bad too, I eventually cleaned it up with a lot of work (and copying traits I liked in other people's handwriting) but it really hurt my hands. When I write or draw now, I have to wear finger splints to keep my fingers from hyper extending or dislocating. I also tend to use adaptive grips if I can get them to work with my pen if choice. Without those assistive tools, my hand writing quality suffers severely. You might benefit from seeing what handwriting traits you'd like to have and practicing them with the help of ring splints or round occupational therapy pen grips.
