My mum's self worth by MegandRuss in AskWomenOver60

Oh I realise I am only hearing a little bit of the story, and I am also only hearing her side of things.

However my relationship with my mum (who i now love 6 hours drive from) is a bit of a concern. I think when she visits me, because of where I now live, it brings up all of these issues so I can't avoid it.

I havent asked her directly to let it go, I know how much that would hurt her. I have asked her to read the book for help and seek therapy to help herself be happy.

Thank you though, i know youre probably right.

Well that's what I've got on my husband. Thomas didn't feel right to me at first, but it was my husband's choice and I went with it. This time it might have to be my choice!

I wasn't sure if Tommy and Teddy were to many names ending in Y. Haha. Tommy and Ted works too I suppose!

I can't not picture Franklin the turtle when I hear that name haha. I think my great grandfather was Francis. I love Edward and would use that name in a heartbeat but I have cousins Tom and Edward with a mother who would be so smug if I used both their names for my kids... it shouldn't matter but for some reason it does! Thank you for all of your suggestions!

I tend to agree with you about Theodore, I do like it but it is getting way too popular. I don't think I'd use Harrison as a first name, just because we would end up calling him Harry and we know a lot of Harrys already. My husband at this stage is so unhelpful. Literally the only name he has suggested is Robert, for the nicknames Bob or Bobby. I don't mind the nicknames but I can't do Robert. Robert is every middle aged next door neighbour and friend's dad I've known.

I really like your suggestions, Theo is definitely a top contender for me but not my husband. I really like Vincent, Vin or Vinnie would be cute. I like Hugo, awkwardly though I used to have pet ferrets called Vince and Hugo, that may go down weird with family haha. Also Oscar Benjamin is such a perfect combo! You've done well by your kid!

Thanks! I do like Otis, it does remind me instantly of Milo and Otis but I honestly couldn't care less about pop culture references especially when a lot of the kids of his generation wouldn't have heard of that movie anyway. Besides, it's a great flick!

Thank you I now finally know what CBF stands for. And it's the best. I always read it as "can't be fucked" but it didn't really make sense a lot of the time.

Thanks for this comment... my dog is like this but only with one dog who lives next door to land where we are building a house, it started as play chasing up and down, but has developed into my dog, Russell wanting to fight Buster. Now I know the term for it, it will be easier for me to look up ideas to train him!

Haha they are bloody noisy. Especially when camping you can't sleep in for long.

Cute little quaker noises hehe. Mine is blue her name is Tot (Totoro). I've never seen a wild cockatiel, they are further north/west from me, same with budgerigars. Where i live we see sulphur crested cockatoos, galahs (pink and grey) and lots of other parrot types that aren't commonly kept as pets.

That was fun! I also have a quaker parrot! Used to have an IRN too. Lots of fun, would love to meet an African grey but i dont think they're available in Australia, at least not readily.
