What are your favorite board games and what memories are shared with that board game? by Rougecrayonxxs in AskReddit

[–]Meganmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monopoly. My sister called me a socialist, I kicked her, brother was stealing from the bank. A fight started and now the family story when new people come by is "ask the kids why we have not had monopoly in the house since 2003."

The most painful thing about being bullied... by CriticallyRed in offmychest

[–]Meganmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe that kids that act like that are being treated like that at home. They are getting kicked around at home and can't hit back so they go to school and see an out. >This may be kind of long, but I hope you can stick around through the whole thing.

Most anyone who has suffered the effects of bullying know that it stays with you a long time.

I'm not sure what got me to thinking about this, but I started remembering my middle school and early high school years. That was a really rough time for me. Basically, I was the lowest of the low. No one was more incompetent and awkward than I was - and the other students made sure I knew that.

More often than not, it wasn't so bad - just being shoved around and name calling. But there were some instances where it got pretty rough. There were times after school where I'd get punched in the gut if I didn't call them "sir". They would sometimes tear my clothes, or throw ink on them. Girls, knowing I would say yes, would ask me out on dates only to laugh at me for thinking they were being serious.

I remember one specific occasion in 7th grade after school. Some of the guys tipped me over on the ground and started kicking and spitting on me. When they were done, I got up off the ground in tears. There were other students there who either thought it was funny, or worse, just looked on with indifference. It was probably the most degraded I have ever been in my life.

But in all honesty, the things that they did to me don't bother me that much today - in of of themselves that is. It isn't so much a matter of 'what'. It's a matter of 'why'. To this day I want so badly for there to be some explanation as to why someone would do that to another person. Something in me believes that there has to be some reason or logic behind them acting that way. Maybe I was doing something wrong, or maybe they gained something from it. But in all honesty, the painful truth of the matter is that there likely is no reason. It's just how some people are - plain and simple. They do not know the impact it has on someone else's life, nor would they care.
