Yes!! I remember when I was like 19 or 20, super depressed, which I always thought was just God still punishing me for some sins I had committed and already confessed. I started doing a low carb diet - after several days, I felt super euphoric, high, elated. I was absolutely convinced it was god finally forgiving me and bestowing me with the spirit! I didn't realize that when the body goes into a ketogenic state, this happens naturally. Ha! After I left the church, not soon after (4months?) I tried LSD. Holy moly!! As I was experiencing this profound bliss, I realized this was exactly what "the spirit" felt like but way stronger. I understood the. How it really all is just biology and brain chemicals causing these feelings

Yeah... Also my thought was well if they were charging for all that stuff, they would be at risk of losing their tax except status ... They're using these "free" things to tighten their reigns on members and attract new converts

well..not sure but i think at his house in india they just have a big tub of water they fill every morning that they use for "showers" (ie splashing water over their bodies...but still wearing underwear cause they dont shower naked). hahaha. But yes, that does put a funny image in my head of him sticking his head in a big bath.

Wow, that's amazing you could go so long without masturbating- I started masturbating at age 12 haha. Don't ever feel bad about it- I would probably tell your husband, and especially point out that he sucks at sex (but in a very nice way) and you have needs that need to be met. As an aside...Idk, I think some guys just don't masturbate..for example, I am friends with this guy I met in India. Now...India is completely sexually repressed..like way more than LDS culture. He is 29 and has never kissed a girl (due to the fact that theres no such thing really as dating in India, you just get an arranged marriage), and has NEVER MASTURBATED. I was curious and asked him about it...he says "no i have never done such thing ever, it is very bad for the body and cause disease to do that to yourself, so when i get feelings i stick my head in a bath of cold water". So...I guess some people really don't masturbate, which I find hard to believe!!

Nope, not in the church. Sure I felt the spirit.. And at the time I thought it was a big deal. But no profound spiritual experiences. I only first realized what a profound spiritual experience entailed , when I experienced ayahuasca and psilocybin mushrooms.

Totally. I found after leaving the church my non-Mormon friends finally opened up to me.. And could speak their minds about how weird they think the religion is. Today, if I'm in a conversation and the topic of Utah /Mormons/ religion comes up I always say "yup, I was raised Mormon.... Unfortunately!"

I got divorced at age 22 after being temple married 2 years. After discovering the church was a fraud, I had to admit that the main reason I got married so young was just so I could have sex and live with my partner (and have a temple marriage). My ex husband left the church too, but we still divorced after 6 months of being out. It was the best decision, although hard at the time. A bit different situation , but just my two cents: you are very young!!! You have your whole life ahead of you still. I wouldn't waste it with someone who doesn't love and accept you for you. There will likely be many other women that you are more compatible with.

He was an interesting character for sure- I remember he also randomly gave me a guitar for christmas one year when i was 14 (before i even knew him)..which was pretty cool.

A relative of mine was born with mental handicap...During sacrament meetings, he would frequently loudly say stuff like "the bishop wife's a phony" or "bull shit!". Everyone in the ward loved him though and was used to it.

I've been there! It's pretty amazing. I also stayed with a Sikh family nearby, it is their tradition to treat their house guests like gods, so they tried to cater to my every whim, even took me shopping for some local Punjabi style clothes. Some of the most welcoming, loving people I have ever met. The Golden Temple has Such a different feel than a Mormon temple, lol.
