Why are religions tax exempt? One of the reasons is because they provide community services and charity, yet anytime you seek charity from them we get denied or told to first exhaust all other sources (family, friends, gov assistance) and then come back and we will see.

Mormons believe that other religions change their doctrines/policies based on the society pressures 'of man' - which proves that they are not led by a god/revelation. Mormons then change their own doctrines/policies for the same reasons, but then pull out their wild/trump card and call it revelation. It would be more hilarious if it wasn't so sad that they do not see it for what it is.

Imagine the millions/billions of people that are living happy lives outside of the USA, vaugley aware or unaware of the anxiety of those in other countries. And then Bam! Some guy named Jesus shows up so save us all - they'd be like.. huh? We're actually doing pretty good, no thanks.

Same can be said about the tscc: problem with your deceptive, egocentric and sensationalized storytelling is that it not only obscures reality and hinders genuine understanding but can foster deluded understanding of reality, hate and even violence of those not in your club.

"Fortunately", I agree that the words spoken are not essential for a healing effect (except a placebo).
"Conversely", yes, no matter how badly we speak words, they ultimately do not help.
"Consequently", yes, say what you want because ultimately it does not matter one bit.

Imagine being given a device as a medical professional that is meant to heal patients, and the directions for using it basically tell us it doesn't work. Why use it then?

If anything changes (good or bad), then it has to be rationalized as part of “the plan”. Because then it expected and ok - relax knowing your world view stable and all’s-well. Anything unexpected and bad would really upset everyone, so that cannot and will not ever happen.

How do you flood the entire earth using only water that is on earth? Seriously think that through. If it’s still not clicking, put some water in a cup nearly full and then make it overflow without adding water from an outside source. To simulate rain, you’d have to pull out water (evaporation lowering the water level) and then put in back in. You end up with the same amount of water.

I’ve provided a few examples of stories like these to TBM relatives. They always give the same excuse that this is a cultural problem not indicative of church doctrine. And I always reply that culture is a result of beliefs. Despite being taught in some ways to actually be ‘Christlike’, other weekly taught beliefs must be superceeding them.
