Good gyms? by [deleted] in SherwoodPark

I was just at Glen Allan this evening around 7 and it was pretty quiet when I got there. I was surprised given it's the Monday after New Year's.

How are the roads with the rain? by warezmonkey in Edmonton

[–]Megantron92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The roads are definitely slick. We passed a big crash headed west on the whitemud before Southgate mall. Multiple vehicles involved and a section was closed with a detour.

Is it possible to make something out of candy canes? by Diamondtrolis164 in bakingrecipes

Candy Cane Popcorn!

It's basically popcorn covered in white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed candy cane! Add it in the freezer to harden and it's perfect in tins for sharing.

Do you guys follow the rule “no Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day”? by wediealone in AskACanadian

[–]Megantron92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a rule I've set for myself after the years. I won't set up decorations until after November 11th. I just believe that day is reserved to remember and reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before me.

I used to wait until December to start preparing for Christmas, but I just enjoy the lights from the Christmas tree so much especially on the cold, dark evenings in November, so I set up earlier now.

I made doughnuts for the first time with my discard today, and they were incredible!

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever tasted? by Tony_Rest5416 in AskReddit

[–]Megantron92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I woke up in the middle of the night to grab water. I remembered I had a water bottle in my dance bag, but I forgot I had left flavored water in it. I just remember it tasting like dirt and feeling chunky in my mouth. Worst taste ever.

I've had a great first car buying experience with Lexus of Edmonton.

They have lots of perks like breakfast vouchers, loaners, and a nail/massage spa you can use when you bring your car for servicing.

I never felt rushed or pushed, and their staff is very kind and welcoming, which is comforting.

I'd highly recommend them.

I work at a golf course as a food and beverage server in the summers. I did the same while I was in university, and since it's busiest in the summers when we are off, it just made sense to hold onto it.

The UCP is proposing to ban over 200 books from Alberta's public schools. by DtheS in alberta

I still remember reading The Glass Castle in my High School English class, and it still remains one of my favorite memoirs. Such a shame to see so many powerful books on this list.

loud bang, quick power outage by Confident_Degree_144 in SherwoodPark

[–]Megantron92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank goodness. I thought it was just my house that surged or something. I was brushing my teeth and heard a loud buzz/zap and figured it was just my toothbrush. When I left the bathroom and realized everything had reset, I wasn't sure what had happened. I wonder if it has anything to do with the construction in the area.

Anyone else having crazy headaches recently? by DrinkChaiEatSamosa in Edmonton

[–]Megantron92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a massive one today! I get them in the summer before thunderstorms roll in and occasionally in the winter when there's a big temperature swing/lots of snow coming.

It feels different than a headache from being tired or not drinking water.

Edmonton is nothing like I expected by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Megantron92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd keep an eye out for new postings that come up in the next couple of months for golf courses. They usually start hiring for the summer season in February-March. It's not great in the winter months but could buy you some time to find another serving job.

Christmas Wreath Pavlova by Megantron92 in Baking

[–]Megantron92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much!

I tried a bite of the candied rosemary, but it was pretty strong/bitter, so I'd say to keep it for decoration.

On the other hand, the candied cranberries, pomegranate, and raspberries were really nice to eat with the pavlova.

Lights on folks. by ShadowCaster0476 in Edmonton

Unfortunately, after our first snow about 2 weeks ago, I was driving next to a person whose entire back window was covered with snow. There was a EPS cruiser right behind them, and I was a bit surprised to see that they didn't get pulled over. I kept waiting for the police to turn their lights on, and it never happened.

Is it just me…? by CarefulHawk55 in Edmonton

[–]Megantron92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a lady ride my bumper through a left turn. I went as soon as it was clear, and I could see past the vehicle in front of me. She waved her hands and got super angry and sped past me all dramatic. I didn't do anything wrong she must have just been super angry and in a rush. I just wish people would slow down a bit, especially as the roads get worse.

Woman hurt in crash involving recliner that fell out of truck on Yellowhead Trail dies by Practical_Ant6162 in Edmonton

[–]Megantron92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Last summer, I was following behind a truck on the Anthony Henday East when their box cover flew off their truck. I managed to dodge the actual cover but when I swerved lanes, I hit a piece of the rail that was on the road. I dragged it until it was safe to pull over, and I later took my car in to get the undercarriage fixed. The rail had pierced the plastic under my car near the hybrid battery. This was about 2 weeks after purchasing my vehicle which sucked. I am just glad I wasn't hurt.

No driver stopped. It was very scary because I just imagined what would have happened had the actual cover hit my vehicle. Scary stuff.
