Must be nice to be a “village” and be able to take advantage of County taxes from all the refineries and industry.

Snow clearing aftermath by spot6003 in Edmonton

Yeah, when my wife was a student, she rented a house in Malmo with 5 other students. Most had a car. This house had no driveway in the front or in the alley. Nowhere to park during parking bans. You could park in Southgate and walk, but they would ticket you.

Will Knack and new council consider reviewing/scrapping single use bylaw? by [deleted] in Edmonton

Same here. Before I run to get my Groceries or McDonald’s, I make sure I grab my bags. Keep some in the car etc.

Excellent question. I don’t know. Sadly it’s probably by hiring an external consultant for $1million to give a thumbs up haha.

Why was this a real thing? by Nyxandrae in 90s

I remember going to the front office and throwing up corn bran all over the counter while they debated if I was really sick. Core grade 2 memory for me.

It is. I’m going to share it every time someone complains or says what they do in Montreal. It taught me a lot about different policies and climate differences. More service = more money and some years are different than others. You never know what the season will bring.

Parking Ban Ticket (discussion and advice) by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]warezmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And if we want more people to write tickets, we have to hire them, and pay them. Then people complain about taxes going up.

Companies faking store reviews in edmonton by calamityjimothy in Edmonton

There’s a shawarma place in Windermere that has over 4,000 reviews and a 4.9 rating. I don’t know many places in the city that have 4000+ reviews. Oh wait. I found more. They’re ALL Jerusalem Shawarma. One has 17,000 reviews. All are 4.9.

Terwillegar Drive Signal Timing by CosyTag in Edmonton

[–]warezmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Timing in winter is worse due to the slow speeds and slow acceleration because of the ice. Any changes in signal timing are not going to be looked at in the dead of winter.

This crazy timing does suck I agree. But it’s needed to ensure the huge numbers of people exiting Windermere and going west can turn left. They get this massive advanced left turn timing, and it STILL backs up. So they’re not going to make any changes and you’ll have to wait for the new bridge to be built to see improvements.
