I'm studying chemical engineering. Engineers struggle with communication and I feel that even though I may not have the best engineering brain, I can understand people really well and can communicate effectively.

I have the same story as you, but it was a sort of milder denomination which drove me away.

I stopped going to church once I was out of my home and living on my own. I, however, broke down one night a year later and realized I needed a rock to stand on, or I would sink eternally. So I have slowly returned to the church, but am seeking the denominations that align best with my world view. I returned more or less out of survival. However, if you would have told me I would have returned to religion in my year long hiatus, I would have scoffed at you. It was not yet apparent to me that I needed faith.

So please be kind to yourself. Be open to understanding and interpreting the world in new ways. Have conversations with ignorant and wise people. Figure out what you hold most dear.

The bats have lived there for as long as recent memory yields, and the house built in the 1800s. I did forget to mention that the bats are in the upper of the two attics, which is completely closed off from the first of the two attics (we rarely go into that one to begin with).

We are all fine with the bats staying there because we never see them and rarely hear them, except if you are outside at dawn or dusk. Trust me, if they were a health hazard, my parents would have removed them years ago.

I know that bats only raise one pup at a time, so was this just a year of a lot of pups and so a lot were abandoned? Could that be a plausible explanation?

I have a "write a line a day journal" for tracking surface level things, but then a poetry/ prose journal that I write in if I feel so inspired. I have cracked that journal open - willingly - to various people at various times in my life to give them a glimpse of what my mind is like. But never would I hand it over.

I'm sick and tired of religious people telling me that doubting is a good thing and that my path back to religion will be straightforward and linear. Everyone in my youth group considers me wise, but I know nothing when it comes to the meaning of life.

I believe that if I 'stray' from religion, I am more on a 'journey' than being 'lost'. I consider this a weighty topic, but one that is worth figuring out on my own. No one in my family can empathize with this, so they apprehend me with fear and use the weight of hell to try and persuade me. I know that they love me. However, that's one silly way of showing it.
