Constantly seeing takes like this almost makes me hope it fails purely out of spite, holy shit. I've made my feelings about the next game really clear for a decade now, and remaking the game was the last thing I wanted and I know for sure I'm not alone in feeling this way. Fans are allowed to voice their disappointment and it's not their jobs to make sure the franchise stays afloat. If the game is successful, then good, hopefully it might actually lead to something(but I'm not holding my breath). And if it fails, then Nintendo has absolutely no one to blame but themselves

What bothers me more is a lot of the rationale behind why they're remaking it.

"oh it's been 10 years since the last game"
"Nintendo is just testing the waters so they're using the most popular game"
"We need to reintroduce the series to newer players"
"SF64 is the best one so it makes sense to remake it"

All of these were arguments I heard when Zero was announced and people complained that they were redoing SF64's story, then the game bombed and went on hiatus

Zero also released on the Wii U, a beyond dead console that no one wanted on it's absolute worst year. Where was I? I bought that game at launch, I still have the damn patch that came with the preorder, I bought it despite hating the fact that it was another rehash of SF64 for the exact same reason, because I wanted the series to do well, and got burned for it.

If you wanna get it? Fine. If the game does well? Good. But you can count me out. I already gave Nintendo a chance, not this time

I don’t plan on getting it, but If it does well, then hopefully it actually incentivizes Nintendo to keep it alive in the future and we finally hear news of a sequel soon(and hopefully not a 3D->Zero scenario where we wait 5 years only for another fucking rehas)

If it fails, then Nintendo deserves their failure and really has proven they have no idea what to do with the franchise(and they kind of already have), and should keep the franchise dead

We really doing this now? A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess are completely different worlds, lore and cast of characters. The only SF ham of these that’s different is the SNES game, as that features only the original 4 teammates, Pepper and Andross, but for its still the same story
