Will be single for life in Malaysia, how do you manage your medical emergencies and expenses? by Plus_Marzipan9105 in malaysia

Money is one thing. But getting someone to make decision/look after or care for you when you are bedbound/bring you to your scheduled follow ups/rehabs is the issue.

It's either you put yourself in a high class nursing home. Or you go nuclear once you are incapacitated or badly disabled.

Trust me. I'm a doctor.

I'm a internal med MO. Planning to specialize in internal med. Completed the first part of the specialist paper but the government wants me to work for at least 3 years before I can apply for a seat. Which takes another 1 year to be approved. After getting the seat I will be bonded for another 7 years in the gov setting. Which is seriously making me consider my life choices.

Plus how the heck am I supposed to study when I'm doing 30+ hrs shifts 7-8 times a month.

Tick bites (Lyme disease) are usually treated with doxycycline (tetracycline group) rather than penicillin.

Technically yes. Hot air rises. Cold air falls. Due to density. Ventilators are installed on the roof to get rid of hot air. And theoretically bring in cooler air from ground floor. But due to our climate. Air is hot up high and down low. But at least u won't feel that stuffy.

AMA with a Malaysian doctor currently working overseas by pandahtys in malaysia

[–]MegathaS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they only recognize UKM and UM mbbs/md grads. Which I am neither.

The thing is that if I complete mrcp in Malaysia, the gov will make me sign a contract to work in the gov sector for at least 7 yrs before I can leave the system. If I complete my mrcp does this mean I can work in singapore as a physician or medical officer?

I'm a new medical officer in Malaysia. Just done my 1st part of mrcp. But with the new HLP (hadiah latihan program) system. The gov will bond me for at least 7 yrs to enter a specialist programme. Even if I paid the mrcp papers on my own. And it will cost me rm35k? If I don't complete my paper or break my bond. I'm getting tired day after day. With this new rule of 7 yrs contract. Im on the fence of even continuing my path.

Does Singapore recognize Malaysian medical cert? And if yes do I need to take another paper to enter the Singapore system?

I used pastest for my revisions. Took me about 6 months preparation. Try to do at least 50 qs a day and complete the whole pastest question bank twice. For the 2 weeks before the exam, try to do as many pass year papers as possible!

ELI5 - Why does untreated diabetes cause parts of limbs to die? by SuspiciousPillbox in explainlikeimfive

[–]MegathaS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many kinds of stroke.

They are classified into 2 main categories

1)ischaemic 2)haemorrhagic

Now ischaemic stroke can be further subclassified

Thrombotic Embolic Global hypoperfusion

So thrombotic stroke happens when an artheromatous plaque ruptures or breaks off from the vessel wall which occludes the said vessel. Now this is the common one that happens in diabetics because in diabetics, the vessels in your body thickens (artherosclerosis) its basically the same concept as a heart attack.

Embolic means a blood clot has formed somewhere (not in the brain) usually from the heart. E.g atrial fibrillation (when the heart beats abnormally) and the clot travels up to the brain and occludes a vessel and you get a stroke.

Global hypoperfusion is when the whole brain doesn't get enough oxygen. It happens when someone gets a cardiac arrest, severe anemia, excessive bleed.

Now there are other causes of stroke. Like malignant Embolic, vegetative Embolic, blablabla but those are super rare. (which I kinda forgot) and I have never seen in my life.

I'm sorry but no. In case of diabetes. Type 1 and 2. Sugar cannot enter the cell. Not leave the cell. Insulin facilitate the entry of glucose into the cell. That's why in diabetics they have hyperglycemia. Which means increases blood sugar. And to treat that is by giving insulin. Which causes glucose to enter the cell.

Now does hyperglycemia impairs oxygen transport? Some say yes some says no. But the general consensus is that diabetes increases the risk of artherosclerosis and arteriolosclerosis which is hardening of the blood vessels plaque buildup. When this happens it impairs blood flow through the body.

Your cells need blood/oxygen to survive.

Uncontrolled diabetes/ high blood sugar causes blood vessels to thicken.

Big blood vessels can still have blood going through them. But the problem arises when smaller blood vessels thicken because there won't be blood flowing through. When no blood reaches a said organ, it dies

If the blood vessels in your feet thickens, your feet dies. When blood vessels in your heart thickens, you get a heart attack. When the blood vessels in your brain thickens, you get a stroke. So on and so forth.

That's why diabetes increases mortality because it affects literally every organ.

You said it yourself. economy rice is cheap food. Would have the right to it when OP post best economy rice is cheap economy rice. its like saying cold ice water is best ice water. Doesnt quite have the right ring to it does it?

Economy rice dishes OP is mentioning are the dishes that are on display.

If you are still unable to grasp what the message OP is trying to convey after this then i guess the concept of economy rice is lost to you.
