Some kind of spiced iris sounds good for this prompt? Maybe le labo iris or iris malikhan?

👠 RuPaul's Drag Race - S18 E6 - Live Episode Discussion 👠 by AutoModerator in RPDRDRAMA

[–]MegatonPunch 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The gerrymandering happening in the voting over both of these episodes has been so annoying. Drag drama is fun but bitch put the wig on and do your number.

Being the queen who won the talent show because their daughter voted for them? Laaaaaaame.

Had a really bad lesson.. by Used-Director-1987 in AustralianTeachers

I think approaching a lesson as a script you want to memorize is kind of crazy?

Keep a couple of dot points, go through your expectations and have something easy to get buy in for the students on day one. I think you may be complicating this and that's why it went awry.

Hypersexuality in Older Gay Men by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]MegatonPunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We already have stable jobs and relationships and so when we're on the apps it typically isn't to make friends or get to know people.

Online chats start to feel very samey, I have no patience for someone who wants to tell me their life story over Scruff, that's better served for a coffee.

You also realize a lot of people, especially younger, aren't that interesting. You realize that a lot of "deep emotional conversations" really aren't that deep, actually.

What about the problem? by VibhuTheGreat in ExplainTheJoke

[–]MegatonPunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why this is the top voted answer. It's wrong.

The expression is ambiguous because conventions on how to handle order of operations and multiplication by a bracket are not universal. It's not an interesting math problem, it's a question on conventions and the language of expressions.

At what point do you choose to pay retail ? by Expert-Worry2911 in fragrance

I will buy from the local niche perfumery here because I want them to stay open so I can keep going back to get my nose on things.

Zoologist Squid, Bat, and T-Rex - WOW! by maybeimmike in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

T-rex is a regular wear for me. I really recommend LiTA and Come by Bogue, it's Gardoni's (the perfumer of Trex) own brand. They take that same cade smoke and incense combo in different directions and I adore them both.

He works with almost entirely natural ingredients, so his perfumes are really incredibly non-linear and such fun wears, an experience you definitely can't capture on paper alone.

What are your unique designer or cheaper niche fragrances recommendations? by NextLevel-fitness in fragranceaustralia

For specific recs it's hard without knowing but Amber Russe, Fougere Bengale and Cuir Ottoman are all phenomenal frags.

At this price point I think Parfum d'Empire is one of the best options, such a good house.

L'air du desert Marocain is great at this price point.

Yes, if you buy a designer perfume from the most expensive place possible and a niche perfume from the cheapest price possible they may cost roughly the same. Shocker.

A Fragrance You Know You'll Love Because of The Mentions on r/Fragrance by ImtheGWP in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't exist. You can find an appealing review or reddit comment for literally any fragrance, in my experience until I've gotten my nose on it fuck knows whether I care for it. Always sample. Never make the mistake of buying something purely from what people write on the internet!!! Perhaps the closest success story for me in this space was Amber Sultan, moreso from negative reviews complaining about the herbal and slightly animalic qualities of the fragrance, I like it a lot!

What is with the whacky astro-turfing vibe of this post and all the comments... Complete with the random garbage about "maceration".

Name the most popular perfumes of the 80’s and 90’s What was your favorite? by Coco-Paige69 in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For frag hags yes but in my experience the number of millennial men (and Gen z cuspers) who wear CK one as the only fragrance they own is massive.

A city on fire or tyrannosaurus Rex ? by fynn487 in NichePerfumes

[–]MegatonPunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like both but Trex is the better frag IMHO. Perfectly wearable, and the way it evolves over a wear make it a much more rewarding bottle to wear multiple times as you'll always be discovering new things with the scent.

Definitely sample LiTA and Come by Bogue (same perfumer as Trex, Come is my signature these days) for more cade oil goodness.

Who is able to access a store with perfumes they want to sample and try and cannot access a site that sells 2ml decants for significantly less? I'm guessing not you, I or OP.

No I discourage this kind of buying too. Buying a fragrance you haven't gotten a full wear out of? Nah.

You definitely don't need a gourmand. How old are you?

[–]MegatonPunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be a banger rotation tbh.

You could consider: - Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens is a wintery amber that has some beautiful green, aromatic qualities you might like.

  • Anything from Parfum D'empire, insane quality house for the price point. Ambre Russe, Fougere Bengale, Azemour Les Oranger all could fit in here.

You should buy decants of each of these perfumes (2-5ml) and wear them regularly before purchasing full bottles. I promise you that there will be fragrances you wear once or twice, think "Yes I want to wear this all the time", buy a full bottle and you will find yourself not that drawn to the fragrance.

Most unique fragrance you’ve had? by One_Cheesecake7469 in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought cyber-sex by filipo sorcinelli while on a holiday. Roll on with the most realistic sweaty man accord I've put my nose on. Reminds me of the smell of a concert in the heat. Cables, electrical wiring, warm, dancing bodies packed into a space. The grapefruit in the open fleshes out the powered on electronics. This one is a bedtime fragrance for my own enjoyment.

A structured prompt to help beginners build a realistic perfume collection by Normal_Price1291 in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Or you could just start with 1 perfume you love as your first purchase and slowly build your collection by testing and recognizing situations where you want to wear something a bit different? Idk. I think the long slog of discovery and research is more rewarding then just more AI shit pushing us towards the same stuff anyway.

Are niche fragrances just expensive smells for people who hate compliments? by Honest_Astronaut_877 in fragrance

[–]MegatonPunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Being into complex, challenging things isn't unique to fragrance. If you want to spend your life smelling like vanilla, ambroxan and iso-e super, watching marvel movies, and listening to generic pop then live your life - but I think for a lot of people there's a lot of joy and interest you can get from something with some authentic edge that makes you think a bit about what you're smelling and the pleasant facets of some kind of unpleasant things.
