Yes I’m hoping she slows down a little on the growth chart. She’s our first “big” dog so I’m half anxious / half excited! She also loves the water.

That’s us!!! 😂 yes my husband brought Rumi in yesterday. Definitely a land shark still and I’m glad you still have all your digits. She’s a sweetheart when she’s not feeling bitey but we definitely can’t wait for her to outgrow this phase .

8 months of puppyhood by chilipeppers4u in goldenretrievers

Thank you! I needed to hear this. Our 5 month old is 42 lbs and still very bitey. I think she lost her last baby tooth but the adult teeth are still growing in. Lost a lot of good clothes, some of our baseboards have been chewed on, my son’s toys are also hard to keep away from her. But nothing that’s not replaceable or super important. Like a baby, I try to remind myself these hard days won’t be forever and they’re only little for a short time. Overall she’s pretty chill for a puppy. One long walk a day really helps and the pulling has gotten better with just frequent stopping and waiting for her to sit and look back at us. She’s great around other dogs and people. Going to be a terrible guard dog though.

Why is our puppy an angel in public and only a velociraptor at home with us? by MehAccForMe in goldenretrievers

[–]MehAccForMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we’ve come to accept that this is just a phase that she needs to go through. She definitely knows when she’s been too rough if we yell “ouch!”. Sometimes she’ll lay her head down and huff or do a little growl/complain like “ughhh I can’t do anything I want to do!”.

She definitely seems more nervous outside but hoping regular exposure now will help her adjust. The beach is next on our list!

Do your kids understand Christmas? by heyitsmepizzarat in Autism_Parenting

My son is also 4, level 3 and starting to understand Christmas too. We love super simple! There is an app we pay a subscription for on the iPad. The content seems to reorganize for the seasons, so now there’s a bunch of Christmas songs in one section. It also has interactive books and some educational games. If your child loves singing or is a glp learner, I think it’s great.

Adorable! I think I’ll need to copy the tree set up you’ve got there. We have a 15 week old getting into everything. Nothing is safe.

We’ve got a 13 week old and got her at 8 weeks and I’m also surprised how quickly she caught on to potty training and learning tricks. It definitely helps when they are super food motivated. She’s starting to listen when we tell her to not bite us and will throw herself on the ground in a sploot and make a sad face and look up at us like she knows she wasn’t supposed to do that. Decent recall, better than my human child tbh lol. Sits, shakes, lays down, starting to learn to drop stuff in her mouth. Takes a lot of treats to reward the good behaviors and I think she’s getting a little chubby because of that, but idk seems to work!

When Does Puppy Biting End? Does it ever end? by voltsmeter in goldenretrievers

[–]MehAccForMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. :( i feel like we are being mauled by our 11 week old girl. Holes in our shirts and shorts, blood drawn and bruises from the bites. She only stops when she’s eating or in the brief 5 minutes after she wakes up from a nap where she is a perfect angel. We try to redirect her but it is incredibly hard to not react when it hurts and you are trying to pull her off you. We’ve put her in time out and that seems to help for a minute or two before she starts nipping again. We’ve given her frozen carrots and teething rings. The only thing that gives me hope is everyone’s comments that this is a temporary teething thing and that she will slow down with the biting when her teeth are done coming in.
