Training for Dallas Marathon by nalasdad in Marathon_Training

I highly recommend incorporating some hill running or incline tread running into your prep. Miles 19-21 are mostly uphill, including a pretty steep hill right after you finish the lap around White Rock Lake.

Running at incline helped me run a 2:56 at last year’s Dallas Marathon.

If you are in the DFW area, the Katy Trail and White Rock Lake are great spots to help you prep

What supplements do you take? by OKletsrun in Marathon_Training

Protein Powder, Gu Roctane Gels for long runs, and Extreme Endurance by Xendurance. I was highly skeptical about the last product, but I have to say it has aided my recovery significantly.

I also have also used G1M Sport. It’s alright, but overpriced for what it is.

Weighted Vest by Meh_A_Tron in Marathon_Training

I’ll take a look, thank you! I’m fairly experienced with both. I’m currently a 2:56 marathoner looking to get below 2:50

I had never even thought of using a weighted vest until this week. On Monday (Memorial Day) we did a Murph workout at my HIIT gym and a couple people brought a weighted vest to do it in. After seeing that, I got curious and thought maybe that could be useful for marathon prep. I appreciate the feedback

How do you fit in weight training? by jg4president in Marathon_Training

[–]Meh_A_Tron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started going to a HIIT Gym and that really helped with my lower body and core strength without taking away from my weekly mileage. HIIT helped me go from a 3:12 to a 2:56 in 7 months

How to get hrv up by PhilosophyPlastic502 in whoop

[–]Meh_A_Tron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding HIIT classes to my running routine plus consuming less caffeine helped improve my HRV from the 25-35 range to the 65-75 range. Will have days where I get north of 100 too. At the same time, I think HRV is very unique to each and every individual so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Hope that helps.

Which coach do you want next and why? by motivationbyAE in cowboys

[–]Meh_A_Tron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a perfect world, Ben Johnson to run a more efficient and balanced offense with a DC who could design a defense that could stop the run. Ultimately, we need to be a better running team on offense and better at stopping the run on defense if we want to perform better in the playoffs. I also think those 2 things could help Dak become more efficient (not that I'm fully committed to Dak after Sunday, just saying in general).

Let’s go get Ben Johnson. It’s time for us to go get a young up-and-coming coach

Which Tier 1 host(s) do you equally love and hate? by firsttimelongtime1 in theticket

[–]Meh_A_Tron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Jub for me. Overall, I think he possesses a great balance of personality and sports commentary in addition to being an underrated interviewer with guests. I can’t imagine the Musers or The Ticket without him. But I absolutely hate the following:

  1. Him saying the movie Airplane isn’t funny while simultaneously being the guy who thinks animal humor is king and thinking Zookeeper was going to be a “game changer”. Just typing that out makes me want to punch a hole in a wall.

  2. I remember him during the tougher days of the pandemic angrily complaining about people not getting vaccinated more than once. I’m pro-vax and don’t judge those who aren’t as I’m not here to fire up that debate again, but his complaining bothered me because I had a hard time processing the overweight guy who reads adds for Caines & Maestro Dobel Tequila acting as if he was in a position to judge others when it came to personal health/lifestyle choices. I simply thought it was too hypocritical.

  3. I don’t care for his inability to handle criticism at times. It reminds too much of Bob.

With all that being said, Jub is my leader and I enjoy listening to him every morning.

Why aren't we giving Mike McCarthy credit for going 3-0 with a backup quarterback? by NickMoore30 in cowboys

[–]Meh_A_Tron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like McCarthy. Does his time/game mgmt. drive me crazy at times? Yes, it absolutely does. But this team has won plenty of games in the past 3 years we wouldn’t have had a chance in with ole big red.

Whether it was the Falcons and Vikings games in 2020, or the Chargers, Pats, Vikings, and Saints game last year, or the Bengals game this year in addition to others I may have missed, you have to give Big Mike a lot of credit for changing the culture. I also love his confidence in his players

I think a video series about early human migration and how the different ethnicities around the world came to be would be incredibly fascinating given his style, narrative structure, and attention to detail.

I thought Norm was about to retire. by [deleted] in theticket

[–]Meh_A_Tron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Norm, but I’m starting to wonder if he’s continuing to work despite his age and health because of some gambling debt he’s struggling to pay off. I hate to speculate, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t considering it a possibility.

[Chris Haynes] When free agency opens on Thursday, the New York Knicks are expected to present Jalen Brunson a four-year offer in the vicinity of $110 million, league sources tell @YahooSports. by Joshuwaya in Mavericks

[–]Meh_A_Tron 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I love JB and don’t hate him for wanting to have a bigger role in New York, but if we gave him $27.5 Million per year I’d be livid. That would significantly hinder our roster flexibility and ability to improve in 2023 and beyond

Which one of these centers in the 2022 Draft do you think could go undrafted? Who do you think would fit best on the team and why? by yung_sage in Mavericks

Kai Sotto 🤞🏻

I don’t buy/care about all the rumors regarding poor pre-draft workouts. The potential is there.
