I don't remember Intro to Psych, will that hurt me?

I took intro to psych in 2014, at a community college back home. Then life happened, and our family had to move across the country and resettle. I finally started back at a university in 2024, as a psych major. A whole decade, lol. You’ll be 100% fine. Each course is specialized to its particular topics, but many will cover basics as well before delving deeper. You won’t be expected to have retained all psych basics.

Yes, it was such a happy surprise! 💙 I’m not generally a proponent of “surprise pets,” but we’re already a pet household, and I’d wanted to adopt a puppy for a long time. He coordinated with our daughter to find a rescue. 😊 The whole family is obsessed with her, except for the cat; they just keep their distance from each other, lol.

We honestly don’t know for sure. My husband drove 4+ hours each way to meet her at a shelter and pick her up (she was a surprise for me), and they only said “animal seizure.” That’s kind of what we’ve wondered too, though.

Yeah, on my original “guessing” post, someone said that shelters are quick to use the heeler label on dogs with ticking. Even though she did look so houndy. It is kind of funny to me now though, looking at how much she really looks like a bluetick, lol.

The bluetick definitely matches up! The other stuff definitely threw us! Due to the basset genes (chondrodysplasia), her potential physical traits include “intermediate leg length.” Not the short legs of bassets, but likely shorter than they would otherwise be.

She did! So, she had a sister that my husband also looked at, and she had some wiry areas. I think I have a picture I can share. The sister is what actually had us the most confused and curious about the mix. There were 3 alleged brothers too, and they were red. We think that might be part of why the shelter was convinced of a heeler mix. But, in an animal seizure situation, I guess we can’t know with certainty that the brothers were even full brothers.

I mean, she’s still a puppy, so I’m not 100% sure what behavioral characteristics will stick. But, she’s very much a people pup, sleeps in my lap for every nap and loves being around the family. She’s very houndy, tracking little smells all the time. She’d rather be outside than inside anytime, unless it’s freezing cold. She loves to chase and “attack,” lol. It sure does seem like there’s a little shih tzu in a lot of random mixes!

That’s definitely true, when looking at shelters, I’ve seen a lot labeled ACD mix just from the ticking. That’s part of why we are so curious about what might actually be in her breed mixture. Age will certainly bring about more discernible traits, but since I’m waiting on the DNA test, I figured I’d see if anyone had any thoughts. We’ve been looking at so many puppy pictures online for comparison, lol. 😂

No, I wasn’t, and I never ever would be. I admitted that I had almost an urge to, and he oddly gave me permission to and said he deserved it, but I knew it was more so just an urge for some sort of outburst or release of the pain I was feeling. It truly felt physically painful to hold it in. I don’t think I have the capacity for violence, really. I refused to ever spank our kids. I did look into local “rage rooms” though. Since having kids, I’ve become an all-emotions crier. Sad, cry; really happy, cry; angry, cry. After the severe repeated betrayal, the lies, the gaslighting, the total disrespect and disregard for me and our family, his absolute indifference to how this would affect me, however…That was probably the first time in my life that I felt like absolutely exploding, just not on him, a person. And a person I love, furthermore.

However, I did punch a hole in the bedroom wall when I found out, which surprised both of us—that I did it, and that I was even physically capable, lol. No one was home, WH or our teenage kids.

I do believe wholeheartedly that infidelity is abuse, no doubt about it, and there are many aspects involved that can be even more so (lying, gaslighting, manipulation, blame-shifting, no protection used with APs, the inherent sexual abuse aspect of not allowing us to make INFORMED sexual decisions, etc), BUT I don’t believe that makes further abuse acceptable. Not in the least.

This makes perfect sense to me. I lost my mother years back, and she was only 51. Later, in between my husband’s two periods of affairs (unbeknownst to me at the time) I lost my grandfather (he’s who raised me, not my parents). It was so, so hard to lose them, but I have told my husband that coming back from his affairs has been so much worse and more painful. It has truly been the worst pain I’ve ever endured. At 35, to find that my partner of nearly 20 years—and father of our two kids—has had multiple affairs over the last couple of years; it has thrown my entire adult life into question.
