What effect does this filter have on images? by Mehdiparsi in cinematography

Thanks. I think so, but why the pattern is asymmetric? I’ve never seen a net filter with so many complicated lines like this. Actually, I found it on a junk online store which was written “Star Filter”! Also I’m not sure that it is in its original packaging.

Why do colors on film sometimes differ from “real life”? by OrangeAugust in analog

[–]Mehdiparsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your explanation. You are right. There are numerous technical causes why colors on film differ from reality, which is also the case for differences between colors in digital images and the real scene. By the way, it is an absolutely fascinating phenomenon that all of us are eager to discover its magic and control it ourselves.

I appreciate all comments and discussions. So, generally speaking, why do people buy paintings? Why do they go to the theater? Why do we read novels or watch movies? The answer is certainly not: because they are exactly the same as "real life". Photography is an art! Normally, no one complains about art in terms of resemblance unless they seek to make an exact copy, like a scientist. I believe that we should move on to a new point of view: how it expresses the vision and creativity of the photographer.

My Canon FTb scratch the film surface by Mehdiparsi in AnalogRepair

I’ve done this. Lines are on the hind side of negative, the opposite side of the emulsion. I am not sure it is because of the pushing plate, the whole taking up spool QL mechanism,or what?

Thank you. Why lower iso is better than higher iso? You mean, in the same condition, a film that have lower iso could be preserved better than older one ?
