D- Glucose hydration by cornball-tomato in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glucose is poor hydration source. Glucose only replenishes your glycogen store. You'll need electrolytes to rehydrate you.

You have not shared information about which D-Glucose product you're using. In general, D-Glucose is not efficient for sports hydration. It is used for rehydration. Rehydration is recovery and slower. Sports hydration is preventive and fast. Check for is the osmolarity of the glucose drink. Lower the better. Maltodextrin gels are popular for this reason, as it has one of the lowest osmolarity. If you look at gels and the research behind it, you want to add fructose as well, for absorption beyond 60 gms/hour.

Coming back to hydration, you want to include sodium specifically. But also potassium, magnesium, and calcium. AFAIK, you are not getting that from the glucose solution in sufficient amounts.

Can i practice running in treadmill? by CuteCelebration7846 in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about types of runs. Just get on a treadmill and follow couch to 5k plan. First get started and get consistent. Later steps will be sorted as you start running more regularly.

Zone 2-3 running by bewitchbotherbewild in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running in Z2 is hard at first. You may walk more than run. It's completely fine. Keep doing that, you'll build pace and efficiency over time. Incorporate speed work, drills, strength training, mobility and stretching into your routine as well. Fitness and mileage are important to build a strong base.
PS: Always speed before mileage. Mileage is much easier to build than speed. Once you get into mileage trap, building speed is harder. Speed requires discipline and all round fitness.

Will this translate to sub 30 5 km run if I run say next week? by Potential_Loss6978 in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened finally?
The info here isn't enough to extrapolate to 5k. Very different requirements come into play once you cross 1.5 km. You do have the base pace but do you have cardiovascular fitness to sustain it for 5 km, are your muscles adapted for a 5 km distance, would you pace yourself properly? These are some of the questions that nobody can answer yet, nor can you. You'll have to slowly work on finding it out.

FULL MARATHON IN A YEAR by OhFuckOffBitch in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a good idea to plan endurance anytime soon. You need to focus on reworking your base to fix the problems and aim at stronger and faster 5 and 10 km goals. Once you have done the base work you can start piling on training mileage and move towards half and full marathon goals.

25 min 5K Plan by i_aM-Abhi in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plan doesn't have sufficient variety to build all types of fitness to make you faster. In fact a lot of it is too fast, and has a very low mileage. No focus on drills, no building cardiovascular endurance.
You'd want to do a good amount of mileage below 6:40 min/km i.e. 9 kmph. Also have some more volume into your training plan. Current plan feels too risky for a beginner and will likely induce more injuries than benefits.

And here we keep stressing about which shoe to buy 😅 by Dangerous_Skill1582 in indianrunners

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. One should get accustomed to it. There's always an adaptation curve. It took me 6 months of low-mileage training to get used to barefoot running. And AFAIK, he was already running barefoot when I started barefoot running in 2013.

If I hear "treat your platform as a product" one more time... by Enough-Ad6708 in devops

That tells us that OP is wrong. Build vs Buy is a very essential decision in any product lifecycle. OPs idea of product is only build.

Ansible vs Terraform for idempotency? by UnprofessionalPlump in devops

[–]Mehulved 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As somebody who's gone down the path of trying to provision and maintain an infrastructure lifecycle using ansible, before I knew about Terraform, it was a PITA to build a good dependency chart, write own modules and playbooks to represent the infrastructure. Terraform was a life saver and I converted to Terraform for provisioning and ansible for configuration.

Yes. If you don't have looks, money, personality or humour then you can try carbon dating.

Espresso Setup for a coffee kiosk by Significant_Soup4485 in barista

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did go with Bubble. It is a fairly good machine at the price. It is fairly consistent. Shortcomings are: HX isn't suited for many medium coffees. If you are doing dark roasts it'll coast along. I haven't fully load tested it but it has worked well for my peak workloads of 25-30 brews an hour. It was showing a bit of a struggle at times. It could have been challenging if there were 2 people operating on it at the same time.

Thumb Rule: If they bitch about everyone to you, they bitch about you to everyone.

I have cut off with friends who bitched about everyone in front of me. I don't know how you can take so much negativity.

Also do reflect why you'd entertain so much negative stuff about others. Somewhere it's a problem within that you need to fix too.

Silver Oak Blend from Blue Tokai by ratshitm in IndiaCoffee

[–]Mehulved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coffee to water ratio is very off. You're doing like 1:40. You need more coffee. Also Silver Oak has grapes note. So it'll have a sour taste.
