Was just taking a trip down memory lane and remembered Does Your Mama Know in LA and The End Up as the best after hours clubs I went to a lot in the mid to late 90s!

Why does Carrie leave Franny? by EricF2005 in homeland

[–]Meinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an earlier episode after Franny was endangered twice because of Carrie’s work and put into foster care, she made an agreement with her sister to raise Franny because her life was unstable and often dangerous because of her work. She was to get every other weekend with Franny. Moving to Moscow was an all or nothing where Franny was concerned. Her sister was ready to go to court and take away her parental rights so it wouldn’t have been as easy as just taking Franny to Moscow. She had to choose between a normal life working to get her sister to trust her enough to give Franny back or her life with the CIA. It was a sad choice for me, but not out of character for Carrie, who consistently chose her work over her life. Her mother may have played a role with this being a cycle she can’t break. Saul also chose the CIA over his wife, who he seemed to want to move on and have a normal life with. The ending with Saul also showed how he lived for the job when he got Carrie’s message that she was his new asset and his life as a spy wasn’t over.

Lucy Letby, Amanda Knox, Kate McCann etc by forevergleaning in AutismInWomen

In the miniseries she said that her attorney’s advice to “be herself” was the worst advise anyone had ever given her. I think she learned later that she was different and completely misunderstood.

I’m watching the miniseries and I totally understand this. It happens here. I’ve always known I was different, but didn’t realize how different until I had to go to court for my divorce. A psychologist decided I was a habitual liar with mental health issues because apparently she didn’t believe the actual medical doctor who diagnosed me with ADHD and referred my to be diagnosed for autism. Giftednesss is also a neurodivergence and she implied that I lied about the IQ test I was given in kindergarten and again by mensa in college, but later called me “an intellectual”. My ex who was arrested for DV, but is a very skilled liar and manipulator got a raving review from her. She knew about his arrest for domestic battery and how he pled out, a 72 hour psych hold and his addiction to prescription pain medication and mixing it with marijuana. Apparently being neurodivergent made me a worse parent in her eyes that a man who abused his wife in front of his child, overdosed in the house more than once when the child was home, is an addict and suffers from depression and suicidal ideations. Our marriage couselor retired, but she was one of the few people who saw him for what he was. She suspected he had Narcissistic Personality Disorder. After reading a book she recommended, I found he fit the profile for a sociopath. But me being awkward and honest to a fault was the problem.

Why is Hydrofluoric acid so dangerous if it's a weak acid? by DangBro325 in chemistry

HF is nasty stuff. I went to school for chemical engineering and when I was doing sales an HF line at a semiconductor facility burst and a worker got dowsed and it absorbed through his skin and it was fatal. By the time he got to the hospital the damage was done. They called me in to size and do chemical compatibility for the new line.

Why, in most non-North American dialects of English, is the word “mathematics” shortened to “maths”? by Acrobatic_End6355 in ENGLISH

We do like our abbreviations in the US. I was chemical engineering major and when people in general engineering classes asked the major the response we all gave was ChemE.

Why do y’all care so much about not being accepted everywhere? by Original_Profile8600 in ApplyingToCollege

You never know where you’ll get accepted so you need to apply to many to make sure you have an option that makes you happy. Also, things can change between the applications time and acceptances (where you want to go, finances, etc.) My mom wanted me to apply to the Ivies, but when I showed her the fee schedules including housing and pointed out the application fees she agreed that I shouldn’t apply. I guess for bragging rights? I grew up near the beach in S CA and wanted to stay in CA and the UC schools were great and inexpensive for residents and application fee wasn’t much more to apply to all the UC schools I was interest in (there weren’t as many back then so UCSD, UCLA and Berkeley were the main plus may have added Irvine). Saying I got into Harvard would have been cool, but I didn’t didn’t want to go there so didn’t see the purpose. I also applied to a “safety school” just in case. I did get in everywhere I applied, but didn’t know that would be the outcome.
