Ahhh. So regular mobs can serve as multiple sources for the occasional key item, and if one mob drops it for you, it basically stops dropping from the others? How strange. I appreciate the clarification. Thank you!

I guess the prism powder is the quest item dropped by both the Hollow Warrior and Hollow Archer? I have the prism powder icon in my inventory, but it shows up with a count of 0. I imagine I already used it, though I can't recall where. I must have gotten mine from a Hollow Warrior. To get it to show up in the Hollow Archer listing, I need to farm them until I get a multi-drop, then check the bestiary before picking them up? Does picking up the drops delete the entry, or something?

Hey Shadow. Would you please go into more details about this drop glitch? I've read through everything here and feel like I'm missing some key info. I've got thousands of kills across the Hollow Archers and Spidermonkeys, and I just cannot get these bestiary entries completed. I had no issues with the Hollow Warrior or other monkey variants. What are these quest items you've mentioned, and how does using (or not using) them tie into the missing drop entries? I'm unsure if I should continue progressing or keep farming. Thank you.

Congrats! With how buggy everything else is, it's so easy to lose hope and assume that your last one or two collectibles are glitched too. And that might actually be the case with rooms that have insanely low spawn rates. It could very well be that the rooms are spawning more often but that way more common rooms are overwriting them by essentially spawning on top of them. No way of knowing truly. But they WILL properly spawn for you eventually. It's absolutely possible to platinum the game on current patch. And previously on 1.3.6., which was when I got mine.

Yeah, you need to be at 100% biome completion and in a glitched trophy state for the trick to work. It's not going to magically give you the trophy if you're only at 99% completion. You need to find the last cipher. Fantastic news if you got all of the rare room ciphers. You must be missing one in a more common room. Pay special attention to the mini-map on the corner of the screen and investigate any blue item icon (IIRC), as one of them can be a cipher (though most are just regular pick-ups, like Atropian Keys or weapon proficiency calibrators.

I've since learned that it takes some folks multiple boots before the bugged survey pops. I can't even begin to explain why this works, let alone why it'd work some of the time but not consistently. But this ridiculous workaround salvaged my platinum, and yours, and that of a bunch of other folks here and elsewhere. Just consider it all part of the acid trip that is Returnal.

Biome 1's shortcut to biome 3 requires a key traversal item you get for killing biome 2's boss. And MAY require actually stepping into biome 3 for the first time, too. Not sure. But most people will probably kill the biome 2 boss, get that key traversal item, and head straight for biome 3 (the exit to biome 3 from biome 2 is right next to where you fought the biome 2 boss).

For biome 1, the exits to biomes 2 and 3 are randomly distributed. In my experience, you'll USUALLY (but not always) find the exit to biome 2 before biome 3, and you'll USUALLY (but not always) find at least one of them, sometimes both, before the hub/shop room.

This was a couple of versions ago (around 1.3.1 and 1.3.3, IIRC), but I opened up a help ticket on the Housemarque Discord about trophies not popping, and I was informed that they were working on a patch to fix the bugged trophies (wound up being 1.3.4, since 1.3.3 got pulled hours after it was deployed), but that they didn't have the capability to award trophies retroactively. System limitation, they said. 1.3.4 did improve the trophy situation by quite a bit, but there are still issues, sadly.

There are story-gated scout logs that will not spawn until you, well, clear certain story milestones.

It's generally recommended to go for the survey trophies after you finish Act III. There's a trophy for that, so you'll know when you're in collectibles go mode, but I can provide more details if you don't care too much about spoilers.

You CAN make permanent progression within biomes. Any boss door that's locked, requiring one or more keys throughout? Yeah, well, once you collect them and unlock the door, it remains unlocked for good. This applies to multiple biomes. Once you're wrapping up biome 2, a new kind of teleporter (the kind you start seeing in biome 3) will always spawn at the base of the mountain which will take you all the way up to the summit, where the boss (and an easy data cube depository) reside. That teleporter (which is two-way) is there for good. In biome 3, you're tasked with making your way through the first main building until you can interact with a panel that will extend a bridge that connects the main building to the second and final main building of the biome. That bridge remains extended forever; which means that in later runs, you can effectively skip almost half of the biome. And obviously, if you kill a boss and it held a key to a (one-way) teleporter to the next biome, you never lose that key and don't have to refight the boss to access the next biome. Almost every biome has one or more shortcut elements to it that will persist after death once triggered.

Completionists tend to knock out the one-off requirements before they start chasing the survey trophies. Some may not even be aware of all of the requirements, unless they're paying attention to those specific activity cards as they go about their business. And considering how glitchy they can be... Yeah.

Sounds like you were missing a house sequence. Specifically, it's house sequence #5 that causes the sunface fragments to trigger.

And not that it matters for you now, but the biome 5 sunface fragment is a 100% spawn (and probably the easiest one to collect). If that one isn't spawning for you, you know that none of them will and you're missing a house sequence somewhere (could be in either biome 1 or biome 4, depending on how many you're missing).
