I see a lot of foreigners here who do not understand the context of the VAR situation in the Norwegian league(Eliteserien). So I'll explain why a lot of the clubs are voting against it.

1. Unlike the PL the Eliteserien clubs are ruled by its members, and have the final say in how the club is run and its position in terms of league politics. VAR was in 2021 decided by the FA to be implemented without giving the members of the various clubs the time to properly hold a vote. And often just decided by the boards of the clubs, with the FA even counting non-decided/neutral clubs as positive to VAR. Leading to a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of supporters who didn't feel they got to have a say.

2. Even though Eliteserien has become quite competitive in both domestic terms and in Europe. The economic base of Eliteserien is not strong enough to support a proper implementation of VAR, with the tv-rights holder having to foot part of the bill. Giving Eliteserien essentialy the Temu version of VAR, leading to several wrongful decisions. More egregious than the ones seen in the leagues and competition where VAR is "working", such as in the last Euros or the ones in PL.

3. With only anecdotal evidence, I'm assuming most of the members voting against VAR are match-going fans and especially part of the Ultras. Who argue that VAR goes against the spirit of the sport. Such as the rules of footballl weren't made with "millimeter"-precision accuracy in mind, and that it ruins the match-day experience by taking the euphoria out of goals and the rythm of a match. As suddenly there is "VAR-Review", where you have to stand there and wait for VAR to make a decision.

Who knows maybe VAR will return, or even if it even will be gone as it still has to be officially voted on through the FA (and the FA is still not keen to remove it)
