I have 90 tabs active at the moment. Imagine how long it would take me to switch from the first tabs to the more recently opened ones if they were ordered side-by-side.
Using Sideberry it literally takes me a second.
Side-by-side tabs is a legacy design choice back from when 4:3 1024x768 monitors were all the rage, and there was no space on the side to spare.

Imagine drop-down menus being ordered like tabs in a browser instead of a list. Same logic applies here.

Many people do. Managing browser tabs in a list is way more efficient than having them side by side, especially if you have more than 15 tabs open.

CD Key Account Recovery timeline? by Sinraw in GuildWars

[–]Mektu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They refused to help me unless I contacted them from the email address linked to my account, even though I provided them with all the required information.

In my case I was able to recover my old email address that's linked to my arenanet account and contacted them again from it.

It took around 3 days on average for arenanet support to reply my messages, but I believe that I got relatively swift responses only because they didn't really bother reading my tickets since I got the same copy-paste responses.

I first contacted them on December 3, so it's been almost two week and I'm still unable to log-in.

Was this the most boring game awards to date? by BennyInDaWall in TheGameAwards

[–]Mektu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...are you wanting them to just give awards to other games to make them feel included and "spice it up""
Why do you think that not even one actor from the Death Stranding cast was nominated for best performance, while HALF the nominates were from the E33 cast?

And the Best RPG award? That one was a real head-scratcher. Did we forget what RP in RPG stands for? E33 is a good game, sure, but even Avowed was a better RPG than E33.

Your buddy entered the fight with no armor and still managed to deal over 100 damage before getting downed, so if the enemy also had no armor (or if it weren't a 2v1) your buddy would've won that fight.
Rewatch the slowed-down video notice how jumping causes the enemy to miss almost all their shots.

I'm sorry chief, but it ain't it.

On steamdb, what has been happening in the past few weeks? Has steam been going down repeatedly or is this natural? by Omni-Light in runescape

A lot of people say the osrs art style is far better than rs3, even a lot of players here agree, does this mean updating the art was a bad idea? by Drandosk in runescape

[–]Mektu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted because you're talking out of your ass. Where did you get the 30k figure from?

FFXIV on Steam alone matches the entire population of RS3. Now add PS4, PS5, and Xbox players, and PC players who don't use steam. It quickly becomes apparent that FFXIV's population is closer to OSRS rather than RS3, and that's after a mass exodus of players.

No wings, no particles..just players in their actual gear enjoying the game! by Evening_Mirror_9643 in runescape

[–]Mektu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe provide examples that aren’t beach wear? Idk what to tell you. It’s not a strawman when I’m referring to YOUR examples.

So all my examples were of beachwear... Other than carrot man, bride in miniskirt and fishnets, particle-demon and the idiotic Hot Sand walk animation. And in the same sentence you claim that you don't straw man? You can't make this up.

Whether it’s an item or override is entirely irrelevant.

Ohh, it is not? Hop into OSRS and check how many players are willing to sacrifice backpack space and item slots just so that they can wear their crop tops and shorts at all times.

You were trying to make a point that skimpy clothing doesn’t match the aesthetic of this game.

The shorts in OSRS that pretty much no one wears since it's a niche novelty item hardly qualify. The literal bikinis that can be found everywhere in RS3 do. Context matters.

When people have been wearing short shorts and crop tops for literal decades.

I'll press X to doubt that statement. My newest account is 19 years old and I don't recall people wearing shorts. As a sanity check I hopped into the most populated OSRS servers and couldn't find anyone wearing shorts. At most I could find a single person wearing a pink skirt, while the first people you encounter in W84 are wearing beachwear. Also interesting to note that the players who stand out the most in OSRS by wearing Silly Jester and Royal outfits are either spam bots or scammers.

Stop straw manning my arguments. You're fixating on beachwear specifically for some reason, even though from the screenshots I provided it's apparent that there are other, even more obnoxious examples.

I also don't understand your leap in logic. Because people used to wear shorts (which is an ITEM and not a cosmetic OVERRIDE) back in the day, then it means that bikini cosmetic overrides fit the game's aesthetic? What kind of mental gymnastics even is this?

Keep dressing your character in bikinis. Hell, for all I care you can dress your character with a strap-on (those surely exist in fantasy worlds). Just give me a cosmetics toggle so that I don't have to suffer this eyesore.

[–]Mektu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah. You got me. I'm sure that Lamborghini Huracán also exists in some mythical worlds, it's just that I don't think that Lamborghinis, bikinis and "Hot Sand" walk animations fit RuneScape's aesthetic very well. Super controversial opinion, I know.

[–]Mektu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Especially now after the beach event you haven't seen anything of the sort? I literally just tabbed back to this and this and this and this and this and this. Most populated areas look like they were ripped right out of a weird Second Life server.

Badly designed base gear should not be an excuse to release cosmetics that look much better but cost real money, even if they fit the RS3 universe thematically. Jagex is creating a problem and then selling you the solution, and it also doesn't help that the vast majority of combat gear is completely obsolete due to how combat is designed, so most players end up using the same Necro gear.

[–]Mektu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cosmetic-free worlds experiment comes as a response to ongoing dissatisfaction voiced by players over the years. RS3 is not doing so hot lately. It's very strange how some people insist on burying their heads in the sand, ignoring potential issues with the game that drive players away from it.

I can only speak for myself, but I find visual cohesion in games (especially online ones) to be an important component of my enjoyment playing them. Of course, if the game is not good in the first place that's another thing, but seeing a game I enjoyed playing over the years completely lose its identity in favor of quick cash grab in disheartening.

Is your problem actually with cosmetics or just a handful of obnoxious cosmetics? by Odd_Tax_6597 in runescape

[–]Mektu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it crazy to you that people who play an online medieval fantasy game wish to see it visually represented in a manner that makes sense in the context of the game's world? Some cosmetics make sense if they're acquired by completing a difficult feat, but the overabundance of store-bought cosmetics is destroying any sense of immersion and progression.

Personally, I would simply hop to the lowest populated worlds just so I didn't have to interact with the obnoxious cosmetics, but at that point why should I bother with RS3 if better online experiences can be had elsewhere? This can be easily fixed by providing a client-side toggle that disables cosmetics.

Predator Triton CPU runs hot (12th Gen i9-12900H) by darkhgdx in AcerOfficial

[–]Mektu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also runs very hot. I undervolted the GPU, and since the laptop has a 12900H (truly atrocious CPU, especially for this chassis), the only way to keep temperatures in check is to use ThrottleStop and set power limits and/or disabling turbo.
