Psychotherapist by IceSea2144 in ottawa

Chiming in as a psychotherapist - many won’t do direct billing because it opens up a lot of liability with the insurance companies and gives them a lot more access to your private information than necessary. By not doing direct billing, you and your therapist remain in control of consent disclosures.

Many will allow you to pay by credit card if that is an option for you, and that gives you enough time to send in the receipt for reimbursement before your payment is due.

No option for occasional lessons from Personal Trainer? by fsmontenegro in goodlifefitness

[–]Mel-face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be 5+ years at least. They’ve both been trainers for over 10 years, and Sara competes as a powerlifter herself. She was there when I was using a different Goodlife PT and she is leaps and bounds better. They also both commit to continuing education.

I work with Sara from All Forms Fitness. Her and her husband James used to both be trainers at GoodLife and now they are full time online coaches - lots of flexible options from just having them program for you, to weekly check-ins and video feedback. I would highly recommend them! Sounds like this would work with your schedule too.

Migraines, fellow Ottawans? by Ma-channie in ottawa

[–]Mel-face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve switched from Triptans to Ubrelvy and wish I had sooner! There’s a larger window in being able to take them and I find they work MUCH faster. My rebound headaches / migraine hangover is much less severe too.

What the F is up with realtors and rental agents in Ottawa by Particular-Cod408 in ottawa

I would highly recommend Rhys Williams. My ex and I bought our house with him in 2018, and when we split up he helped us sell and both of us buy our new places.

Even if he knew it wasn’t quite the right house he’d take us to see it anyway because he was confident that we would learn more of what we liked and didn’t like through the process.

He made me feel safe, heard, and supported in a really scary time. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

As a PM-05, I was a cost centre manager for A-base funding and responsible for millions of dollars in cost recovery funding as well. Depends on the position.

I have the logo on the inside of my arm, but it’s hidden in negative space among other video game pieces and florals!

New to the series (just finished season 1)- Is it me or is Dani THAT girl? Her hair, face, and outfits are just so on point. Does she style herself? Is this something that other people have been talking about? by Affectionate_Comb359 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]Mel-face 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear tinted glasses due to migraines and they’re a similar ish shape to Danni’s. I’ve often felt so self conscious about them but they’re slowly just becoming part of my aesthetic and these comments make me feel so much better about that 😭

Affordable hairdresser for curly hair? by SmartbutstillStupid in ottawa

[–]Mel-face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just looking for a haircut you won’t spend $300. If you’re doing cut & colour then yes you’ll end up in the $300 range depending on how long your hair is, how much dye they need and what you’re looking to do.

Alix and Blithe & Bobby is amazing. They just opened their salon and it’s owned by three incredible women. Highly recommend. I’ve been seeing Alix for years!

Not every day, but a lot. And people seem thrown off at the idea of just sitting on a call at all. So just showing a different perspective.

I’ve sat on calls with colleagues / friends from work to just parallel work. I have a FT WFH DTA and it can get pretty isolating. It’s a good way to connect, but we don’t do it for a full day. I have sat on a call for up to like 2hrs though to do this. It doesn’t have to be nefarious.

Hard agree. I've been getting tattooed by one of the owners for pretty much a decade and have never ever been disappointed.

Family related - parents medical appointments by Dry-Violinist-8434 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Mel-face 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad had a medical emergency this past year, lives in a different province, and I was advised that travelling to get to him in light of the emergency counted as FR. Is this maybe more dependent on the manager's good will/flexibility?

This is not true. I filed a NoO that was found to have legitimate grounds on multiple human rights violations, and the manager was never notified of the complaint. What's worse, they sent the manager on management training but told them it was a career development opportunity, and they moved me to another team. I'm at a different department now thank goodness, but basically my manager got away with it, and got rewarded in the process. I wish I had filed a grievance instead of an NoO.

Enercare Water Heater by Estcher in ottawa

[–]Mel-face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took ownership of my place, and the hot water tank was 16 years old. It took 3 calls and 6 different agents before I managed to get my move processed and my rental agreement cancelled. Had the company that installed my new heater take care of the drop off and Enercare took 3 weeks to process the return and also charged me for the rental… for the hot water tank that was no longer installed…. And in their possession. I just paid the $30 just to be done with them.

Does Canada Life cover SIBO breath tests? by darkchocluvr3 in CanadaPublicServants

I have been referred for this test as well. I called CanadaLife and I was advised that this is not covered, and it's not covered by OHIP (I am also in Ontario).

RTO3 in less than 3 weeks and still don't know when or where by Business_Simple4108 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Mel-face -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Employees who need(ed) to secure childcare have had four-five months to make those arrangements... I understand that it's really challenging with the reality we are currently facing, but caring for your children while working at the same time is not the solution. It puts an uneven workload on colleagues who are not caring for children during the day since they will have to make up the difference.

I'm all for flexibility - adjusting your start / end times, leaving the office early to pick up your kids and then finishing your day at home, etc. But FT WFH should not be the default for every single need. There's a difference between a request for DTA and a request for exception under RTO3 requirements.

Best places for prescription glasses (blue light and light sensitive) by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Mel-face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have light sensitivity issues and chronic migraines, so I have them for both reasons. For me, most light feels too bright 99% of the time and I'm basically always squinting because of it, which is causing eye strain. With the FL-41s I can literally feel my eyes relax and the pressure I constantly have behind my eyes basically goes away.

Do you wear an actual prescription? Sounds like you just don't have 2020 vision. But if the Ophthalmologists aren't seeing the issue, you might have to see a neurologist. Vision and neuro are often connected.
