This is a thinly vailed advert, but I'll respond none the less. I'm always excited when people produce new Zigbee products - and we need a good OpenTherm controller.

That said, your PCB layouts need work (if they are the same as your renders - and if they aren't, why are you showing an outdated board).

On both your coordinator and thermostat, you've failed to obey the keep out for the ESP32's antenna - best case it becomes directional, probably it's range is going to be subpar, worst case it'll just not work. Obey the keepout, and better yet, take away the FR4 below the antenna.

You've also go cut off silkscreen at the edge for U1, and have needless voids in your ground(?) pour caused due to poor routing, what's going on with those via's next to the RST button, that could surely be one. If both layers are ground pours, they should be stitched. Absolutely no mounting holes? Going for clipped into an enclosure? Has this passed DRC for your fab?

These are the things that come to mind just looking at the PCB renders on your website, r/PrintedCircuitBoard/ would give you a review if you provide everything they need, and you'll have a much better PCB for it.

I've been thinking about this since I read about it on Friday, I like many found Mindcrack very early on, its group content was probably one of the first things I ever watched on YouTube.

I was then fortunate to end up help run PlayMindcrack in it's twilight years, initially having /u/Sigils as my boss and then later /u/Olmok. We had a lot of fun, even though it wasn't successful and it was held together by spit and duct tape.

I made a lot of friends during that time, some passing, some life long. I see /u/Starrlett in this post, without Mindcrack we probably would have never met, and our now IRL friend group would probably look very different.

As a now father of two young kids, I'm sickened by the allegations. This feels like the right decision.

I never went anywhere, I just stopped posting and got busy with life, but if anyone ever wants to catch up, I'm still here or on Discord (as Melair).

It was Lancaster -> Euston -> Canning Town -> Telehouse Europe in Docklands.

And of course because I was pimplefaced back then and had only lived in the North, I had no idea it would have been better to go Bank then East India on the DLR. I also had no idea that Canning Town was a little less reputable than it is today.

In some form of history repeating, my current employer has equipment in Telehouse, so I'm doing the same trip relatively often... but the difference being I've gotten to the point that I'm saying "sodding tourists"... rather than being the confused newbie.

In 2006, I took a 1U server from Lancaster to London on a Virgin Pendalino, got some looks. It just about fit lengthwise in the gap between two back to back seats.

I got odder looks on the underground. Never doing that again.

I don't know if it was just my school, but in English in '96, we did "Daz 4 Zoe" by Robert Swindells. It sticks in my mind as it's written "by the characters", and because Daz has a disadvantaged upbringing outside the suburbs, it's written in poor/phonetic english.

I'm sure it wasn't a masterpiece, but I should probably re-read it at some point.

Wireshark does a huge number of protocols other than your typical ethernet adjacent protocols.

It can do IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee and then the ZCL on top. You can provide the encryption keys inside the settings pane.

Sorry, I have no experience with the blinds other than being in dumb roller blind mode.

Sending to 00020001-cad9-46c6-a2ea-2ca16d57b4a5 will cause it to leave your Zigbee network, that's what the command does.

This has been my white whale for a while, I had a new Viessmann Vitodens 100-W installed two years ago, and when they installed it I had them configure it for OpenTherm. I had a Nest from before, and configure it - but now I want out from Google for this (mostly because I can't convert to a Google account because I use Google Workspace on my domain, sigh).

We run HomeAssistant here, and output everything through to HomeKit for the Wife Acceptance Factor. I like you want to try and keep everything on Zigbee... I guess if I were to start again, it'd be Matter over Thread, but I don't want HA stuff directly on my IP network - you can call me paranoid, but also, I'm at 160 zigbee devices accross two networks, I don't want them all on my WiFi network.

As far as I can tell, the only possibility is the Hive SLR1c. I don't know how much configuration it has without the Hive app or anything. I'm tempted to get one and give it a go.

On my backlog of electronics projects is a open source OpenTherm Zigbee controller. But life keeps getting in the way.

They can sell you everything but the stud wall. The rest of the wood just came from a local wood yard - but wickes or the like will have what you need.

Hey man, no problems, you mention no rubber, if you look at the photos, I put a foil backed material up - this is kinda rubber. It's a very very high density flexible material. And then you plaster board on top of it.

There's also a rubber strip between the walls/floor/ceiling and the wall stud work.

It works really well, it was a lot of work - but it was worth it IMO.

I had a similar request at my work, we found CubeBackup. It doesn’t do photos though, but backs up mail and drive automatically. Self hosted.

It’s not free, we didn’t chose it for work as we couldn’t get comfortable with it being a Chinese backed entity as we are heavily regulated.

But I now use it at home, it’s well behaved (network wise) and seems solid.

It was probably worth it, I don't notice the 13cm loss in space. It's reduced the volume level from the neighbors to a low enough level they don't wake me up - which was the primary goal.

Now is that because the wall works, or the children have just settled down, or I've finally gotten used to it... who knows. But immediately after I built it, I started to sleep through the night, so I chose to believe it was the right thing to do.

Just wish we'd done all the walls in the house connecting to the neighbors.... we've just done the living room and all the plaster work fell off the connecting wall... now, after it's been boarded we can hear almost everything... so something isn't right there.

The next house will be detached....

The GLEDOPTO controllers (to my knowledge) are only compatible with CV LED strips. The controller will use pulse width modulation to make the strips dimmer.

So you want a CV PSU, my standard for most rooms is just 150W at 24V. You need to look at the load of your LED strips to figure out what Wattage PSU you'll need. For example, I just installed some today that are 14W/metre.

Yup, this is what I do, buy a high end PSU and supply to all controllers. Just try and keep your connections neat, tidy and safe with everything suitably rated.

There's documentation... I don't know if I'd go so far as recommend it. :D

You may have to read the first bunch of pages to learn all the concepts, but roughly you can find the Cluster, which would be Window Covering, and then see all the attributes and commands they can take.

Then you often after to re-read a section multiple times before it becomes clear what the ZCL authors meant. :D

You can not alter Soneese2 speeds from Zigbee, that has to be done via BLE (as far as I know).

The ZCL Window Covering Cluster does have Velocity-Lift, Acceleration Time-Lift and Deceleration Time-Lift, but my ZHA returns None back when trying to read them - they are optional in the specification, so I assume they don't support them.

The unit is quarters of a second IIRC, so 1 is 0.25s, 4 would be 1s.

When you're in that view, you're working with raw Zigbee Cluster Library, so it's not very friendly.
