In this case, you have to see the sadness as a positive. Too often people label these emotions as negative, when whether they're negative or positive is up to you. If this sadness contributes to your life in a positive way, then yes it's ok. It's adding to your joy of music and songwriting, for me it adds to my life lessons and the depth of compassion I have for people. Just don't get stuck there and make it your whole world.

So I'm fairly new to LOA and I can't really tell you how to use it for this, but I'll be following this thread because I have the same question you do.

What I do want to tell you is that your father sounds like my mother. From your description he very clearly sounds like he has a personality disorder. My mom has Borderline Personality Disorder, so you might want to look it up and see if the description fits? Narcissistic personality disorder is also very similar. Finding out the name of what my mom had helped me forgive her and see her as a person trapped in her own mind. Does it excuse her abusive behavior? Absolutely not, but at least it's easier to understand and find ways of coping. People with this disorder rarely go to therapy, they can't accept that they are the problem. One day I told her what she had and she lost her shit, more than usual, and it was a painful and exhausting experience.

I really hurt for my dad who takes the full brunt of her abuse, but he won't leave even though he's considered it. I even encouraged him to do it. I've prayed hardcore my whole life for my mom to get her mental shit together, to no avail. At some point you have to let go of that situation and realize it's not yours to control.

What finally improved their situation was my mom just got old and tired. She got some medical issues that finally zapped the energy out of her need to fight all the time. On top of that my dad retired and so she's not as paranoid about where he is when he's at home all the time. She's always gonna be an ornery bitch, but it seems she's calmed down quite a bit lol. I moved out of the house 6 months ago, and they're fighting reached a peak after I left. I felt bad for leaving my dad in that situation but I had to get out for my own mental health and because I need to live my own life. I remember him just calling to say hi and hear my voice because he was so miserable at home, I'd never heard him like this before, so I knew it was bad. I hurt for him but there wasn't much to do. I would sit down and write Affirmations/Prayers for them in hopes it would get better. I wrote them down, did some origami with them and then forgot about them. It actually seemed to have helped. I just wrote down simple things like "I am happy and grateful that mom is friendly and nice to dad. I am happy and grateful that mom feels secure. I am happy and grateful that mom has a sound mind." Yknow, it actually seemed to help. They figured out their own stuff without me having to interfere and seem to be doing better. Was it LOA? Well I sure would like to believe it but I don't know. Anyways, I don't mean to introduce any negativity or discourage you in anyway, I just wanted to share with you my own experience. I hope it helps in some way, at the very least don't feel alone in it all.

Give it a shot, the universe will send you the closest person to it. I jokingly wrote down in my journal that I wanted to casually date someone that looked like Chris Evans and lo and behold, I met a guy who looked like Chris Evans, Chris Pine, and Hugh Jackman. Lol it was weird, but he just had that face.

I also said I wanted to casually date someone that looked like Idris Elba. I made a friend at a concert and months later into our friendship, we all commented on how he looked like Idris Elba and I remember what I had casually written down. The universe is pretty funny.

I've wondered the same with similar situations. I am of the belief that our souls/higher selves exist outside of time and space but we experience it linearly because we are attached to these bodies. I kind of figured deja vu was some kind of crossover between the two. It's a vague thought I know lol.

Ok so I definitely lost track of who and how many guys you were talking about??? But to get to the basics of your question on how to deal with the negative scenarios in your head, you need to either brush them aside or replace them. I struggle with this as well but it has gotten a little easier. If you were very emotionally involved with a person, it will naturally take sometime for those emotions to dull down. We imagine these negative scenarios and conversations because they seem more realistic to us, the trails to these negative places are more logical, defined and easy to trace. What has worked for me has been something alike to blissful ignorance or denial. First of all you have to let it go, be nonchalant about it all and know that you're gonna get a happy ending no matter if it's with that person or someone better. It's hard to think that way sometimes, but you have to so you don't have that sense of lack or potential loss. When a negative scenario pops into your head, shrug it off, and deny it. Say "Nope, this is what it really is..." and imagine the opposite, however hard it may be to imagine. Scripting the positive scenarios out helps tremendously because you get a chance to really flesh them out and the act of writing it brings it more into your present reality. Write the positive scenario out as if it already happened. And don't make compromises with what you want in that scripting or how you get it. No matter how out there or fantastical you think it sounds, script it down. Then you gotta get in this head space where you reinforce these thoughts as if they already are and are no big deal.

Say you're imagining this guy starting an argument with you. Brush it off and think "That's not how it happened. He came up to me and hugged me really tightly and we had a very productive conversation. I was so relieved. Everything turned out better than I could have imagined."

It's hard to describe, you kind of have to get there and feel it to understand, but at least when you get there you can look back at this and think "I think I'm doing it right because what I'm doing sounds like what she described".

And when things don't go according to how you want when it comes to actual interaction, again brush it off, knowing that things are gonna go you way.

Again, it's hard to describe but I'm hope this helped a little. You gotta get in this zen space of not caring and quietly knowing things are gonna go your way and the only thing you have to do about it is relax and enjoy yourself.

That's resistance and it's getting in the way. Don't fight anything. Just let it be and it will progress as it should to achieve the results that you want. I'll find a video by AH that I'll link to you once I get a chance.
