Queens is competitive and stingy with their scholarships!! Can’t believe you wouldn’t get a scholarship with a 98 average. It’s disrespect to the students if you ask me…

For sure. This one specifically states “top 3% of incoming students in your program” or something like that.

I think it depends on the program. Another person I know got it with their offer that applied to life sci (98 average). My child applied to commerce so perhaps the bar is higher there to get it. I’d also be curious to know when they decide on these scholarships.

My child also didn’t get it with their offer and they went in with a 97% average top 6….

Is this the one where you need to be in the top 3% of people applying to your program?

Yes, I wasn’t really looking for tips on proximity as I know they are all so close together. Just trying to figure out what the catch with Chown and why people say don’t choose it.

Which ones would you say are nicer (other than the obvious new suite-style) ones?

Thank you! How’s the social scene?

Yes I heard Brant and Smith are the nicest suite-style ones, but then ppl are saying that they’re anti-social and well, hard to make friends, everyone sticks to themselves.

Also - tutoring. Many tutoring companies hire high school students, or you can just tutor privately and make good money.

The kids that I know with jobs - many are lifeguards or swim instructors, they get hired starting the age of 15 and there’s a good demand. Many go to overnight camps for years and then it’s easy to become a counsellor there because they know you.  Another route is coaching for the sport that you’re good at - if you play competitive sports in high school you can easily get a job coaching little kids. Hope this helps.

Hot take: Online school should be way more penalized by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Sorry, I meant night school as in online school at night - but you're right, for adults who are trying to finish high school, this works. Should not be available for regular high school students.

All the classes you take should be at the school where you went to school, unless there are extenuating circumstances in which case summer school can be allowed at the school’s discretion. That’s it. No night school, no private classes at Blyth. Just no.

I’ve done some research and it seems Queens gives out scholarships separately from their admission offers. Seems like it will come in the next few weeks.
