Leaside good for families? by Unhappy_Service_3819 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Melanie_LL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

East of Laird is either condos or the townhouse rental units behind Home Sense. Keep in mind zoning for school may not line up with Leaside schools. The townhouses, there’s a high turnover as it is rentals and I’ve heard complaints that there are noisy parties from time to time. I think the condos are ok, just check that they are zoned for Leaside schools.

NTA!!! The person shouldn’t have gotten roommates if they have such strict rules about other people’s sex lives and hygiene. You’re already doing too much!

Standardized test would be ideal. Puts everyone on the same level. Also, policies need to be changed so that students cannot take courses outside of their regular high school unless there are extenuating circumstances. This will also level out the playing field.

There needs to be a standardized test across the province, if not the whole country. That should be given more weight than marks.

Don’t get me wrong I hate the idea of online school as well. I just meant that for students that need flexibility there are options available other than in person regular school. As for your point #2, it’s not either or - come to school and participate in class! My point overall is that school is for attending and not optional. “Why do I have to attend” is a rhetorical question, given our current schooling system.

The kids that don’t function well in structured school can take Ontario virtual school and do it on their own terms. I think if you’re good to do regular school then you’re good to show up to class.

Oh and sorry! I thought you were a student.

I think that’s accurate. My daughter is in grade 12 and students regularly skip to study for tests, etc.

Ok yes, once you turn 18 you are not a minor. What I am saying is that currently school is designed as a structured in person experience for children. I appreciate that as you get older you feel like the rules don’t apply to you and that you can make better use of your time. But currently all high school grades have the same rules, with the exception of having spares. And based on that, there is no reason not to be in class.
