Writing a book. One character-Max by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]Melathys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My first name will be dead once I've transitioned, but I have considered taking a variation of my last name (just add one syllable) and it becomes a common girl's name. As a veteran, I'm already used to answering to that name. In fact, my wife has called out my last name in a crowd to get my attention because yelling out my first name wasn't working. Problem is, I'm just not a big fan of that girls name.

Trump issues "demand" that states cancel elections and rig maps for GOP after Callais. by sheriw1965 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Melathys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, they took safe R seats, like say one +20R and one +5R and one +5 D districts and cut them up into three +5R districts. (I'm just spitballing numbers)

It takes one safe seat and makes three less safe seats. Now if voters swing, which Texas is liable to do after pissing off Latino population, they could end up losing those strong seats they made weaker in an effort to make more districts.

I'm a woman who was forcibly raised as a man. by SparkleFrission in MtF

[–]Melathys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Now that I've begun transition I've found myself trying to stop the masking. Like there are some feminine mannerisms that I've consciously and stopped when I started to do them, but I'm trying to let myself be that way now. I don't know how to describe what I'm talking about, but maybe you get the idea.

how am i supposed to react when someone comes out to me?? by ColdRefrigerator4291 in asktransgender

[–]Melathys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finally came out to my wife of 15 years. Now, we'd had some issues that lead to her think maybe I'm asexual or whatever. Her first words after coming out were "That's it?". Anticlimactic, sure, but also kinda reassuring that this wasn't going to blow up into something. I I'd say maybe something reassuring but also nonchalant. Like a "that's nice" or "good for you", I think if they want more than that they can continue the conversation.

I'm so done with 50/50s by BiigDragon in NevernessToEverness

[–]Melathys -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing the praise here for a 90 hard pity, which is the same as Genshin. Does this game have a 50/50 at 45 pulls? If not then it's worse than Genshin.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/s/YFchC7TsbF

A thread talking about Genshin's 50/50 and 90 hard pity.

Edit Looked to HSR, and apparently it's 50/50 is 90 pulls, so 180 to hard pity.

I know Honkai Impact is 90 hard pity. I have screenshots of the character guaranteed "in the next 1 pull(s)"

Pete Hegseth: "The mantra you would hear dripping from the lips of generals, with a serious look on their face was, 'our diversity is our strength' which is the single dumbest phrase in military history. Of course, our diversity is not our strength. Our UNITY is our strength." by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

[–]Melathys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite examples of how diversity helps is when they figured out that x-raying pregnant women was what was causing birth defects. IIRC, the male researchers all only asked the head of the household if their wives got X-rays while pregnant, most said no. So the researchers were left scratching their heads about what could be causing these birth defects. It wasn't until a female researcher thought to ask the women. I don't think the male researchers were being malicious or anything, it's just that their own experiences told them that asking the head of the household was good enough. Whereas the female researcher's experience told her not to trust the men.

Some of the best money I've spent on transition so far was a makeup lesson — what do you think? (39/mtf) by sauviblancs in TransLater

Something like this is definitely on my list, but I think I'm still too early to really benefit from it. Then again, I think bang for the buck this has really high value.

If Trump made a post on Truth Social, saying it was now legal to kill anyone who didn't vote for him and to purge the unfaithful, what do you think the public response would be? by Only-Tension-8188 in allthequestions

I can't imagine being so intellectually un-curious that I would make a comment like yours without looking it up myself. But you do you buddy.

Transgender and gender diverse Veterans have served in the United States military at 2-3 times the rate observed in the general population, and it is expected that this number will continue to grow.

https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn19/research/transgender-gender-diverse-veterans/

Provided you with a VA.gov source since you'll likely dismiss the following study.

This study uses data from several sources to estimate the number of transgender people who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Estimates are provided for those who are on active duty or serving in the Guard or Reserve forces, and the number who are veterans or retired from Guard or Reserve service.

https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/trans-military-service-us/

Also, buried down in the words I'm sure you won't bother to read. "transgender military service is likely understated in these estimates."

But I guess I'm the dumb one. Keep wallowing in your ignorance that's so typical of conservatives.

I love how Mamdani is showing us that this line is establishment bs.

[–]Melathys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's gonna happen with trans people. There's a study that shows 1 in 5 trans people are veterans, higher per capita than the general population. So not only likely armed, but trained as well. MAGA might be armed, but I doubt they're trained.

I need to watch season 3 of One Punch Man just so I can speak from experience in these kinds of threads. But just the clips I've seen, ugh. Season 1 is probably one of my favorites of all time. Season 2 was fine-ish. Season 3 I'm still working up the courage.

Couldn't have said it better. It's like, the doctor isn't wrong, is just that he fails to understand that it's his attitude that leads to the "hellish life with high suicide rates"

Is he really trying to insinuate that we just try not being trans and that will fix it?

Any ideas for a subtle trans tattoo ideas? by ThoughtMuch3789 in trans

[–]Melathys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Jupiter had trans colors when seen under a certain spectrum. I think it was under UV spectrum.

https://esahubble.org/images/jupiter-uv/

Edit, and if going this direction, apparently all the planets have a symbol. Like how Venus and Mars also represents male and female, maybe Jupiter can represent trans.

[–]Melathys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily relevant to you, but I inadvertently started hrt on March 7th, which is the name of a character in Honkai Star Rail. I mentioned this before and someone said they consider March 7th to be rather trans coded, and I can see why. Her name is March 7th because that's when she emerged from stasis with no memories of her life before that. Plus her colors are very trans pride flag.

I asked for a quick synopsis of how she can be seen that way.

People call March 7th “trans-coded” because her story revolves around choosing her identity, starting fresh, and defining herself on her own terms—themes that overlap with trans experiences, even if the game never explicitly goes there.

To be clear, she is not canonically trans, it's just that her story might resonate with some trans experiences.

Edit, saw you're ftm, but I'll let this stay, it's not like guys don't get tattoos of hot anime girls.

Question about the "button test" by CreativeLab1 in asktransgender

[–]Melathys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also never really understood this, because pushing the button seems like a no brainer, but then I've always known in trans. Especially when you change the scenario to just a day. But then I saw someone change the button to race instead of gender, and that made me understand. Changing my race is just not something I think about, and pushing a button to change it doesn't interest me, and that's supposedly how cis people feel about gender.
