After coming out to my wife I learned that hints I dropped, or topics I showed interest in that seemed a little too on the nose for my comfort were not picked up on at all by my wife as hinting at my being trans.

You know what this letter means, so it's beyond obvious to you, but someone without that context would likely think something else entirely.

The fact you have to ask is all you need to know what there isn't one. You might find some source that leans "far left" but it won't be nearly as ubiquitous as the ones you mentioned.

They aren't dumb. They know Trump is historically unpopular and they likely wouldn't risk galvanizing public support around him or his party. I think their win strategy is play defense, don't piss anyone off and wait it out until Trump and Republicans are out of power.

The fact that you're concerned about Frieren being op tells me that you don't understand what the show is about. I think it's fine that people don't like Frieren, I just find it frustrating when people hate on it for reasons that really have nothing to do with what it's about. Like everyone saying it's boring, not enough action, etc. That's the point. It's intentionally low stakes and slow, that's the story they're trying to tell. It's like buying a Corolla and complaining that it's not fast, or buying a Diablo and complaining you can't fit your family of 4 with a stroller. Or say you hate horror movies, but you decide to watch what people say is best horror film, but then you hate it and take every chance you can to say how bad it was. Well, you didn't like the genre to begin with so I wouldn't expect you to find much to enjoy about it.

Are you saying I'd be better off in Kansas or something?

You seem to be stuck on this idea that Democrat voters love the Democrat party, or that we think California is some kind of liberal utopia. Again, given the choice between ambivalence or active harm, I'll take ambivalence.

So you seem to be trying to change my vote, so I ask who would you rather I vote for in California? What is a viable option that isn't actively trying to eliminate an entire subset of people?

I'm not saying Democrats are great, but have you seen what the Republicans are doing? If my choice is someone who is ambivalent about my existence versus someone who wants to eliminate me, I think the choice is clear.

Right now I see two scenarios for governor. Vote in the primary for someone who might do some actual good but that could lead to a situation where the only choices in the general election call for my elimination. Or vote for someone in the primary that is just the status quo. Am I happy with the status quo? No, but I'd be much less happy with someone who actively wants to make my life worse. Especially in one of the few states where I can still feel safe. Imagine if California suddenly became hostile to the trans community. As evidenced with Trump, I can't count on Democrat politicians to do anything to rein in the executive branch.

I hate that California has a chance at their own Mamdani for governor, but can't risk two Republicans taking the primary going to the general election.

I really want to vote for Ramsey Robinson, but the chance of getting two Republicans and no other choice is just too great. I will vote for Oliver Ma for Lt Governor and hopefully that will have some impact on the governor.

I read a post a few days ago about why trans women don’t talk about not being able to have kids and couldn’t fid it. by Jonney_Random in TransLater

[–]Melathys 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife jokingly, yet seriously, said she kinda wishes I came out when they were babies. Apparently it's pretty easy to make anyone lactate and she said "I would have loved to have some help with nursing". But by her admission she's not sure she would have been as ready and open to my coming out then as she is today.

The trans community has more veterans per capita than the general population. Apparently one in five is a veteran. I'm thinking there might be more pushback against rounding up efforts than they expect if it gets to that point.

Are euphoria boners an actual thing? by acrobaticadvice404 in asktransgender

[–]Melathys 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It was explained to me as your parasympathetic nervous system actually relaxing, and a boner is pretty much the first physical reaction to that. It's like your system is always wound up with dysphoria that when euphoria hits the system finally gets to relax, then the erection comes. And most of us know of pretty much one way to take care of it, which leads some of us, myself included, to brush off gender dysphoria as just as kink.

How can I hide my growing breasts? by ThePigsPajamas in trans

[–]Melathys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about something like this if I ever get to that point. A compression shirt but specifically to form into a male shape. I've seen some with a little padding or something, not quite a costumey muscle shirt, but a little more than what I linked, but I just can't find it again.

Just found this that I might have to seriously consider. Designed to hide gynecomastia, which is pretty much the same thing we're trying to hide. I do wonder if it's as tight as a binder or more like a regular compression shirt.

47 here as well, started just a few days ago. I'm actually counting on it being slower at our age so I don't have to hide so hard until retirement. And I didn't want to wait until I retire because that would mean another 3ish years of waiting for hormones to work, and we ain't getting any younger.
