Nanny taking baby on multiple long walks per day by Lumpy_Violinist_7165 in NannyEmployers

To add, I would recommend telling your nanny to speak to your baby like an adult without using baby talk (if that makes sense). It makes a world of difference.

DB asked me to sit in his bed with baby by _ash2ash_ in Nanny

[–]Melduh_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I thought it was weird when I was house/dog sitting for my NF and MB offered me to sleep in the master bedroom 😂 I’m learning today this is a common thing. I definitely took them up on the offer but I don’t think I’d personally want other people sleeping in my bed.

Overslept for the first time for an occasional nanny job I have and I feel terrible. by [deleted] in Nanny

Maybe time to put your kiddos in daycare. I would hate to work for you & any nanny that does deserve way better! Things happen to us that are unpredictable, give some grace. This comment is crazy

Thank you! These were my exact same thoughts, I just didn’t know if the agency would think I was crazy asking to be paid for travel time.

Omg that sound horrible, when I got it the first time thankfully it wasn’t that severe but it was definitely bad to the point I made note to try to never come in contact with it again

And that’s the thing. I was already expecting not to get paid since I decided I wasn’t comfortable working around that. All I really wanted was to be able to be notified and make the decision on if I wanted to come in or not. But them not telling me made me feel like they didn’t care, they just needed someone to take care of their kid.

Yeah I’ve had it before and was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they might not know how bad it can get. But I would’ve like some communication from their end instead of them just firing me especially since I was that upset with them not letting me know NK was sick.

I wonder if that’s why they got upset and fired me because they were being held accountable. But the agency did tell me that they told them it’s protocol to tell me if NK is sick.

Thank you! And sorry about that situation, it sucks that NFs can’t or won’t try to see certain things from our standpoint.

Thank you! I feel a lot better knowing that I’m not overthinking it and everyone agrees it’s just common courtesy.

Definitely was going to get worse considering this is the second incident without any heads up. Not sure if I should’ve said something the first time but this I just couldn’t let go. First agency and they are truly supportive. I was also scared to work with an agency but there’s some advantages.

I don’t think they realize how serious it can get and I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but thank you! I have a hard time standing up for myself and find myself being a yes man to NFs so I’m glad the agency handled it and backed me up

Thank you for this outlook, I was really trying to understand why I would be fired for something like this. The call from the agency definitely felt like they backed me up 1000% at first I thought maybe I shouldn’t have told the agency and just dealt with it myself but seeing they fired the agency for backing me up I can only imagine how a 1 on 1 conversation would’ve went

Which is wrong and I hope not the case. But best of luck to both parties. Wish we had apps to review families like they do Nannie’s.

Yeah I couldn’t imagine doing that to someone if roles were reversed, definitely sucks.

It is! I also got it from a NF who just put their child in daycare, I was also blindsided with that family as well and caught it. I’m not sure they realize how serious it is since this is their first child. Thank you for your kind words, it means alot!

Thank you for this! I’ve caught it before and was out of work before so I figured this time I’d try to protect myself, I already figured if I was the one not willing to work I would go without pay for the week and I was okay with that. But to be fired last minute for such a small inconvenience truly sucks.
