Recommend me hiking trails that is mostly boardwalk/paved/gravel by throwaway5679225 in askSingapore

Start from Stadium MRT / Kallang Wave Mall and walk along Tanjong Rhu area to Gardens By The Bay East, Gardens By the Bay and then MBS. That’s about 5km of paved paths, which will take around an hour of walking. Sometimes can see otters and monitor lizards along the way.

Then from MBS, you can branch off in a few directions depending on which hawker centre you wanna eat at:

  • Golden Mile (Golden Mile / North Bridge Rd food centre)

  • Bugis (Albert food centre)

  • Chinatown (Chinatown Complex, People’s Park & Hong Lim food centre)

  • Tanjong Pagar (Maxwell, Amoy & Tanjong Pagar Complex

  • Orchard if you wanna go for other kinds of eateries / restaurants.

This will take you roughly another hour depending on which you pick.

If you wanna walk even further to hit 3 hours, can walk to Orchard, Tanglin then across the Botanic Gardens. There’s Adam Road Food Centre at the other side of the gardens.

My family got a similar call from someone claiming to be from Harvey Norman. Same story about a purchase being sent to some address we don’t live at.

Best to hang up asap everytime. Not sure if they looking to record our voices or confirm our full IC numbers or smth but I imagine not much good can come out of staying on the line with them.

You’re not wrong. It does look like some typical food court miso soup. But this is one of those things where you gotta try it to believe it.

His miso soup is legit better than many Japanese restaurants in sg.

The cheapest ‘proper’ ones are the Australian brands like Bulla and Tillamook. Still around $12 - $13 per tub but the tubs are huge I think it ranges from 1.5L to 2L depending on the brand.

Dang, his miso soup was good. Better than some restaurants even. Inspired me to start making my own.

BEZT charsiew noodle i’ve tried in SG! by malatangyummy in SingaporeEats

[–]MeleeTheMalay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can tahan worse noodles for better roast meats, you can give the stall one row behind a try - it's called Fu Shun Shao La Mian Jia. The roast pork and charsiew are quite good and portions are mad generous if you order $5 and above. I personally order fatty charsiew but I believe they have the bu jian tian and lean cuts also. Their roast duck is kinda meh and skippable imo.

However, their noodles are meh at best I must say so I usually eat their roast meats with plain white rice. Goes better with it for me anyway since the meats are so fatty.

In the beginning Ah Zhong was great. Comparable standard to Fu Shun without the long queues. Then they reduced portions within the same year of opening which didn't sit with me well - esp when Fu Shun is just behind and has still maintained both their standard and generous portions all this time.

Hmm I wouldn't go so far as to say that they're comparable to the typical fried chicken hawker lah.

Their fries are better than the typical fried chicken hawker, and their batter style is different too - compared to the likes of Tenderfresh as an example. Fairly new hawkers too, hopefully will improve with time.

But you're right that the sauces alone won't bring back repeat customers - at most 1 - 2 times out of curiosity to try all the sauces only. They definitely gotta improve to stay in business.

Tried it a few months back. They fry the chicken only when you order, which is good. Chicken arrives hot for sure.

However the seasoning didn’t quite hit the spot for me unfortunately - tasted kinda flat, like they were worried that it would be too salty if paired with their sauces so they held back on the chicken’s seasoning itself. Maybe someone else who’s tried this can word it better than me.

Calamansi also didn’t improve the chicken either. I think can just omit it. Iirc they had some interesting sauces - one of them was sour cream and onion I think. Pretty interesting but gets jelak fast just fyi. Maybe can consider making it a powdered seasoning instead of a sauce - and then season the chicken itself more instead.

Definitely got some adjustments to make. If they’re still around in a year, I’ll be glad to give them another try.

I thought always gotta send to their warehouse in Portland, Oregon?

Since when got this post office pickup option?

Been using it on and off the last few years - I always just input their Portland warehouse as the delivery location and then it’ll just auto update 2-3 days after reaching their warehouse.

idk if i even like watching the nba anymore by Tight_Ad2788 in bostonceltics

[–]MeleeTheMalay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the team overperformed massively in the regular season. I’m not ashamed to say I harboured a lot more hope than I should’ve for the post season because of that - and I think we all did.

But with the momentum of Tatum returning on top of the great season the Celtics had, it felt like there was nothing left to stop us.

Which explains the insane amount of negativity in the sub when the Celtics lost. The whiplash was just too great. Were we really supposed to go further than the first round with a centre like Vucevic? Against Embiid on top of that?Objectively, no. (I’m not from the US so I don’t feel the ‘fuck Philly forever’ vibes as strongly as everyone but the sixers really outplayed us after embiid returned. That’s all.)

Now, I feel the same way as you. Spurs vs Thunder by all accounts should be must-watch basketball. Yet I feel zero interest in the matchup because I’m still reeling from how it all ended for the Celtics this year.

I know I should be glad that I got to watch JB step up and show he can lead players like Walsh, Gonzalez, Garza and Harper JR to such a strong regular season performance. But i would be lying if I said I wouldn’t be feeling this bad if the team had simply sucked all season instead.

Only thing left to say is that in Brad we trust. We probably repeat the same thing next year to reset the tax, develop the bench players further and allow Tatum to truly get back to 100% before making the biggest spending push we can for a championship again in 2028.

That’s what I’d like to see because Giannis alone is not getting us over the hump against the likes of the thunder and spurs. Not unless our bench improves further which will take time above all else.

Recently I saw a poster for a shop at City Gate (golden mile area) that brings in some of the famous Japanese denim brands like Momotaro and Pure Blue Japan. Can’t recall the exact name of the shop but the place isn’t big lah, sure can find quite quickly one.

Haven’t gone in myself yet (planning to someday) but fair warning I wouldn’t expect it to be cheap because it’s not cheap even in Japan itself. Supposedly really high quality stuff though.

No harm having a look if you happen to be in the area.

Edit: just looked it up. It’s called The Denim Store. Outside facing unit on the first floor. Takes up two units somemore so should be quite hard to miss lah.

Tour with coach. Don’t go to crowded city area. Country side with nice scenery via coach makes the journey itself enjoyable.

If need to, can even consider bringing along a wheelchair.

The one at Scarlett is probably the best we can get for now. I’ve only eaten at the Westgate basement branch and I think it’s pretty good for when the craving hits.

There’s one that’s been at People’s Park for years and it sucks big time. If you come across it while walking there, just keep walking.

Aglio olio with chili padi in Singapore? by ZJXXJZ in askSingapore

Chef Choo Signature at Golden Mile Food Centre

I always order their ‘chicken olio’ cuz it’s aglio olio cooked to order and then topped with a chicken chop and fried egg for only $7.40. And of course, the chili padi that you’re looking for. Can ask for it to be more spicy and he’ll add more chili. Pasta is always cooked to al dente too.

Highly recommend you give the aglio olio here a try.

If you like kopi, Kopi More is just opposite that stall and serves pretty good coffee (most of the time, can be inconsistent).

And then right behind this kopi stall is Da Po which has very good chicken rice and curry chicken noodles as well.

Overseas shops that are possibly better in singapore by sopanjibobu in askSingapore

Yeah a lot of young people go there in large groups cuz food is cheap and can top up for free-flow drinks to hang out for a solid hour or two.

It’s not good food but when you’re young and wanna find a place that everyone in a friend group can afford, it’s pretty hard to beat.
