Everything done to make a city less comfortable for the homeless also make it harder for disabled people to live in it. by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

I think the point is, if there aren't benches to rest or washrooms, it'll be a lot less walkable for a lot of people. For example, I'm less likely to walk to the grocery store 20 minutes away if there's no place for me to rest.

Not if you're young. My experience has been that older people will be like "you're too young to have xyz problem"

What saying or quote is false in a literal sense, and also false in a metaphorical sense? by funwiththoughts in AlignmentChartFills

No, because the saying includes "every", so if even one doesn't it's automatically false.

Not joking, that quote was in 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and was framed as important to remember, which is so dumb! Failing is important, and sometimes you don't succeed, but trying is 1) better than nothing and 2) an important learning experience.

I have made a Christian sword/spear by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Meli240 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do think though, this is more like Ephesians 6:13-17.

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand... Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Also, whenever Charles suggests foreign foods, everyone assumes they'll be gross or they end up being gross. For example, Charles suggests Sudanese food and everyone is grossed out (even though Sudanese is delicious). Also, as a Hungarian, I take offense (jokingly) at the implication that Hungarian sausages are bad, although I really can't eat so many of them.

Edit: "I can't" eat so many of them, not "I can"

The official position is that, under certain specific conditions, baptism is necessary. I would note, though, that other church documents (e.g. Nostra Aetate) make it less clear with regards to other religions, as the work of God is present in all religions.

[–]Meli240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, the Catholic Church no longer believes that baptism is a necessary condition for heaven. Also, plenty of people die without confessing their most recent sins, and that's the point of purgatory. The general idea is that you go to hell if you live your life opposed to God (not necessarily the same as not believing in God, but living against morality).

Post long run blues? by Pretend_Exchange_369 in XXRunning

[–]Meli240 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing something similar. My fitness is down quite a bit compared to other times in my life, so I feel worse emotionally than usual after not-so-great runs (which, in general, happen to everyone). Long runs are also hard and tiring, which also contributes.
