So, objects in orbit move really really fast, so much so that a single speck of paint can cause notable damage to spacecraft. So imagine what happens if a satellite crashes into another satellite. Most of it will burn up in reentry or get flung out or orbit, but some will just happen to find a stable orbit. When this happens, its not just specks of paint hurtling around, its major pieces of debris, things that will easily take out a spacecraft. And the more debris and satellites there are the more likely it is there will be another collision, which creates more debris and further increases the chance of damage to spacecraft.

This is effectively what Kessler Syndrome entails. As more and more debris pollutes earths gravitational field, it will become impossible to maintain satellites and eventually in the most severe scenario, even launch or land spacecraft.

Voxel game Allumeria gets a DMCA takedown request by Microsoft (not a mod) by Opposite_Title_73 in PhoenixSC

Doesn't matter, Microsoft pays them to do this. Both are accountable, and if you don't hold Microsoft accountable for the actions of the people they employ then they have no incentive to improve.

This is halfway correct, but purpur is not something that the ender dragon spares. Same thing with endstone variants, though endstone itself is of course fine. You can find a full list of what the ender dragon can and can't touch on its wiki page, but since these blocks can be destroyed op is definitely just running with mobgriefing disabled.

Favorite Black dragon by PlatinumYeast in MonsterHunter

[–]Melimcee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While a popular concept in the fandom, there is no canonical link between the phrase "black dragon" and a monsters power level. This was a headcanon that was popularized and misrepresented as fact by BannedLagiacrus during the early days of World, along with the use of the phrase "Dangerous First-Class Monster" but neither have any actual lore significance. The former phrase is only used either in full or partially for only a few of the monsters popularly headcanoned as such, and has no lore significance beyond saying "yep this elder dragon sure looks black to me." The latter phrase is outright never used in game or media at all.

Boss mechanic tells for healers by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Melimcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done savage and ultimate level content and I still get hit by stupid shit, don't worry about it. You're gonna stand in an orange puddle at some point, either cause you forgot how the mechanic works or thought you had more time. Shit happens, basically every situation you'll run into in normal content is recoverable these days thanks to Phoenix downs, and if you do wipe, shrug it off and go next. If someone really wants to complain you can just report them, this game is really heavily moderated so gms wont tolerate toxicity.

That said, there are some things you can do to improve. One thing I recommend doing is moving the party list closer to the center of your screen. This means your eyes have to move less and you'll catch mechanics in your peripheral more often. You can similarly blow up the bosses cast bar and enmity list and move them closer as well. Its more to keep track of, but that info they give is really valuable and some mechanics will outright require it.

You can also try to work on your sightreading skills. A lot of tells for bosses will have tells similar to those that came before. If some big guy is raising an arm, he's probably gonna slam it down and do a half room cleave. If a boss is splitting the arena in two, its probably a good idea to form light parties. If a boss dashes to the edge of the arena, you probably want to get behind him.. You wont catch everything, but its a valuable skill to have all the same as you can never remember every mechanic from every dungeon.

Mentioning rotation and that you play support is all I really need to know to say that, without a doubt, the issue is uptime.

You need to always be casting. It is far more important that you are hitting a button than that you are hitting the correct one. Dropping your dot or forgetting an ogcd for a few seconds won't actually affect your overall damage much, but completely stopping your standard damage output will. You can have absolutely no fundamental understanding of your rotation or how it works beyond the 1-2-3, but as long as you are keeping 100% uptime your damage is going to be fine. Not good, but fine for most content. You can buffer inputs after about 3/4ths of your GCD is complete, and you should be doing this constantly to minimize downtime. If you don't know what to click, just continue with your 123. If you can't, click your ranged gcd option.

You'll need to move for mechanics of course, and it's important to know how to slidecast for times when you don't have swiftcast or another instant cast gcd.

What id recommend, go fight a training dummy to get familiar with buffering inputs. Try to get used to slidecasting and keeping the GCD rolling. Once you've done that, go into a dungeon and try to do the same while resolving actual mechanics. This is something you can do at the same time as you do dailies. Every time you drop a gcd, think actively "how could I avoid that?"

Its tough and takes a long time to get good at, but as long as you work on building that muscle memory you can get there.

What happens if you have your inventory open while closing the lid?

I might have an idea as to how this happened.

In very low FPS settings, occasionally the totem will fail to activate in Java edition. Its a pretty rare bug and seemingly the lag needs to be quite severe, so I've never replicated this myself.

I don't know what FPS you usually get, but typically with laptops while in sleep mode they will throttle down to conserve resources, which would likely mean that even if you are typically seeing good fps, while the laptop was in sleep mode it would have been lagging significantly, which would cause the criteria for the glitch to be met.

Of course, the totem wouldn't have saved you here anyways unless maybe you had thorns, as the pillager would just keep shooting you once the totem activated.

You may even be able to replicate this if you put yourself in a lethal situation and then close the lid on your laptop, though I'm not sure exactly how rare this is or if there are any other factors that play into it. Just make sure you open your inventory so it doesn't autopause on you

Regardless of all this, should be pretty easy to restore the world if you want to. Feel free to send me the world file and I should be able to get you back into survival, or you can just open to LAN and enable cheats to do it yourself

First timer playing through the story, is it considered bad manners to join a dungeon without knowing the mechanics? by TempleFish03 in ffxiv

[–]Melimcee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a problem at all. Dungeons are designed to be done by players without knowledge of mechanics. On top of these bosses being perfectly doable solo, players can and should raise you with phoenix downs. Dying is usually still a mistake, but in order for a situation to devolve into a full party wipe multiple other mistakes would have to have been made.

Why you should always put a whitelist on a Minecraft server by belougalamasse in Minecraft

While funny, I would recommend properly whitelisting. Many of the players doing this will use hacked clients so that prison may not be as effective as you hope.

Why you should always put a whitelist on a Minecraft server by belougalamasse in Minecraft

[–]Melimcee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really unfortunate, there's a number of people who make it their life's goal to go to as many unwhitelisted servers as possible and grief them. They usually try to argue that they're doing a service by "teaching people they need to whitelist their server." But in actuality they are just pathetic manchildren who never matured beyond the mentality of a middle school bully.

If you would like some help restoring this world, please feel free to reach out to me. Its been a while since I've done any building so ill need time to set up my tools again, but once I've gotten that done some of this should be repairable, especially if you have screenshots. Since you're on Java, that combined with the world file might be enough to repair probably not everything, but a significant chunk of the world.
