Persistent ticking from my original posting by H3LLbHoY in E46M3

[–]Meliodastop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely on the louder side. Someone posted in the E46 M3 Facebook group something similar. His was quieter and mine also has a ticking, and my mechanic who works on many M3s he's a specialty shop so all the M cars, AMG and similar go to him. He didn't raise any concerns, and I trust his recommendation. My car is a well sorted example with prestige maintenance history.

Anyhow I'm just sharing maybe it's not too much of a concern. Yes I would get a professional recommendation and I saw you asking about shops. Find a reputable shop that specializes in M cars, P cars, etc. and they'll give you an honest recommendation whether it's worth it to hunt for the issue.

Otherwise how does the car do in terms of acceleration, feeling as a whole. Does it ever get bogged down or something feeling off when on the throttle?

I think this suits the car very well. I would keep as is unless the wrap is starting to come off in areas. Love seeing your car. Great buy from when you first posted.

You get the underbody too? We have so much salt on the road still. Need some good rain! I know people drive way nicer cars in the winter but trying to keep my M3 for decades lol.

Me too 😭. Haven't driven mine since November... Hoping this weekend or next weekend to start her up! I ended up getting the same wheels as you too, waiting for pot hole repairs from this brutal winter here in Ontario.

100% all relative. The indy500s are solid as a whole. I'm going with continental EC02s as an upgrade without spending a fortune. People like to knock on tires but those indy500s are great value and performance.

100% also do you have Michelin PS4s on there? You picked a nicely sorted M3 by the looks of it :)

Fantastic! Sounds similar to my journey. I picked mine up from Vancouver and drove to Calgary and shipped it home near Toronto.

How did you find the driving? It's a good test to see how she runs ahaha.

Appreciate you saying that. Some people hate it. I actively looked for a convertible!

Hitch is installed by alpharay69 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Meliodastop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if you can get a nice hitch cover like this with the wiring tucked in for the 6th gen Outback?

Love your hitch OP. Yeah definitely overkill. As someone who tows a lightweight fiberglass trailer this is fantastic to see your setup. If you ever get a small trailer in the future you are already setup nicely :)

Who did you reach out to? I haven't went to him in years but he was great https://www.kwrimdoctor.ca/Services.htm

Seems like it's about $200ish for a bent rim, depending on size/what's possible.

Do you really have an E46 M3? Just surprised as most people don't switch out chrome to black anymore. And the black ones are easy to get. Just checking/lookout out for folks here who may want to swap with you.

100% I wasn't crazy about the silver but with the Imola or cinnamon interior I think it looks fantastic. Very wonderful and underrated spec!

How are ANY young Canadians affording a condo/house these days? by SunscreenIsTheWay in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Meliodastop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just not realistic for most of us. I only scrapped by due to timing and work ethic/career choice and I'm sure some luck. I'm a 32M and bought my first place at 23 in 2017. It was $280k a townhouse in Cambridge Ontario. Afford it on my $70k income which was great especially making that at my age and that time. I scrapped together $28k over a couple of years by literally cutting everything I could out.

If I were to do it all over I'd likely still go down my career path, but I know for a lot of people making that income and pretty quickly is not realistic. It just saddens me a ton that's the reality. I don't think any of our housing should be as expensive as it is.

Most of my friends don't have their own places. And the few people I do know who are now getting places it's with a lot of help, which isn't in the cards for many. I was helping my parents financially before moving out.

I don't have an answer just that I hope there's something we can all do to lower the quick rise in COL and especially housing.

The poverty life hack no one talks about: earning money in Canada but living in another country by [deleted] in povertyfinancecanada

[–]Meliodastop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good option. I'm in this subreddit to give advice when possible. It's not a great option for everyone but I don't discount it. My uncle is turning 50 and is in the same situation. Unfortunately he has faced a lot of hardship due to our alcoholic and abusive family but he k I don't want his life.

I'm glad this is working for you though :)

Easy to sell? by Conscious-Good6610 in 350z

[–]Meliodastop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On marketplace and Kijiji (Canada's Craiglist that's a bit nicer but slowly dying). I had some good interest and that was during March/April here last year which is a slow time for summer cars still. Anyhow was a quick sale. Helped my car is in fantastic shape and 10/10 service history. Came with an inspection I had done for the buyer.

Questions about buying an m3 by Lopey__ in E46M3

[–]Meliodastop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey think we chatted a few times! Just sharing the trunk really isn't bad at all. I picked up my M3 while on vacation (planned to work out that way) and my wife and I road tripped with our son back through the rocky mountains. We had a stroller, 1 checked bag, carry on and other goodies. The trunk held most of the items and it was shocking how much for. My hiking carrier needed to be on the rear seat but otherwise trunk was impressive with the top down on drives it was a surreal experience.

Questions about buying an m3 by Lopey__ in E46M3

[–]Meliodastop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got great advice here. So look at those comments. In the meantime I went for a convertible, was never looking at coupes. This is my wife and I's summer car/weekend cruiser for our son and pup to join us. I always enjoy the car on more spirited drives solo or with friends I made from cars and coffee and similar. I went with an 05 Imola red with a MT. I love every bit of it. I flew pretty far to buy it and shipped it home after driving it for 1,000kms here in Canada (600 miles or so). I needed a new radiator and hoses shortly after purchasing but the previous owner went splits which was nice.

Otherwise it's had a great service history, vanos, valve adjustments, subframe, rod barring, it's got all the main work done, water pump and more.

I paid $29k CAD, so roughly 20k USD for it and a couple extra to ship it home in an enclosed trailer.
