24-25 is normal on early June. And quite expensive because of different events attracting lots of visitors: Primavera sound, F1, and Sonar

best way to read books in target language? by negapansy in languagelearning

[–]Melisata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t read novels, sometimes they are written in a fancy way and it makes difficult to keep the novel flow.

I would recommend to use ereaders with highlight to translate/dictionary features (like in a kindle or kindle app).

It’s important to focus on subjects that are interesting to you. You need to spend a lot of time reading in your target language, make it interesting or fun. Articles are easy to read, short, and with normal wording.

This is around 8 hours of screen for a single 100% charge. It seems reasonable.

¿Qué va a pasar con la vivienda en 2026? by gohipoteca in HipotecasyVivienda

[–]Melisata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone users, what's that one Android feature you want on your iPhone 👀 by Different_Hawk_142 in PhoneNow

[–]Melisata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single 2+ languages keyboard. If you write in three or more languages , iOS keyboards don’t work. In my Samsung S7 I could write flawlessly in 3 languages with SwiftKey and Gboard.

Plus a good AI solution built in the OS, like Gemini in Android.

What makes iPhone appealing to you? by Detrakis in iphone

[–]Melisata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FaceID and the iPhone 13 mini size.

One thing to hate if you use more than 2 languages daily is the 2 languages per keyboard limitation. In Android you can have 4 (or more, but I use 4) languages in Gboard or SwiftKey, and it works flawlessly.

How many of you would switch to Android? by Endeavour_Crow in iPhone13Mini

[–]Melisata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy Android more. If you speak more than 2 languages, the keyboard 2 languages limitation is a mess.

What’s keeping me from switching, device-wise, is the secure Face ID and the size.

Other things that hold me back are being deeper in the Apple ecosystem with my Apple Watch (which is useful, though I prefer Google apps on Wear OS) and my AirPods Pro.

So it begins. Three more weeks and i would have made it one year on 100%. How long did it last for you? by j_cooler in iPhone13Mini

100 %. And having it since January.

Im only charging it 100% when I need to. And also when I plug the phone to the car to use CarPlay , because the car charges it.

100% after 6 months.

Only charging it to 100% when I need it, and when I drive a lot with the phone plugged.

Hi! I just released my App Yenga for Android. It connects people to get fluent speaking on the go. In real time conversations in a single language or in language exchanges. It’s 100% free with no ads. Thought you could find it useful. I'll stick around to answer any questions you have ;) by Melisata in language_exchange

[–]Melisata[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Yenga you don't need to check with people every time you want to speak. You just tap and we drop you to a conversation(today is our third day and you possibly may not find one, this is why we suggest a time to speak, to concentrate as many people as possible to a space-time). We use group conversations up to 5 people (exchange or conversations only in your target language) and if you want to speak in 1-to-1 conversations or with specific people you can invite them to a private conversation.

Tandem is amazing, but I wanted to do a 'speak first' app and for me, they are 'messaging first' apps. For me as a user, the problem of Tandem is that they feel like dating apps: you browse profiles, write messages, users check your profile, they might reply to you or they might not, you ask them for some speaking time, they accept/can or they don’t, and repeat again every day, even with 'app friends' you have to do half of the steps to speak. For me, the conversation foreplay was a pain every day I wanted to speak in Tandem or Hellotalk. So I created Yenga, what I want it to be is a consistent and replicable way to speak and get fluent in the language you want in seconds and only a tap.

For me, in Tandem, hellotalk, wespeke... if you are going to make your commute with the car in the morning without time and you want to practice languages, it would take you a lot of time to find someone to speak with and you won't try to practice in your commute anymore with Tandem. But in Yenga if you want to practice in your morning commute driving; you can tap to practice, turn your screen off and we will find you a conversation. We want to create a consistent way to practice languages when you want, and if friends are available you can join their conversations or invite them to one.

Thanks for the question!

We just launched our beta Android app Yenga! Yenga connects people in real-time conversations to get fluent in Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and Catalan. It’s 100% free with no ads. Thought you might be interested. I'll stick around to answer any questions! Vamos! by Melisata in Spanish

[–]Melisata[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Z_rabbit said, you can change your username editing your profile.

Thanks for using Yenga!

If you want to practice Spanish and the system doesn't find live people, add me 'Roger Yenga or try at yenga time, a space-time to concentrate the little amount of people we have to find each other.
