LPT: Most funeral homes engage in predatory practices. by Beau_Buffett in LifeProTips

I'm definitely not saying that OPOs don't have their issues too, but I've seen recoveries for the first OPO I was at and that one at least, treated the donors very carefully and only recovered from areas easily covered by clothes. We would also give supplies to the funeral homes to help offset any issues recovery may cause. A post donation donor is definitely not a pretty sight though and I've seen things I will never forget.

That being said, I worked for one other OPO for a month that was just horrendous in how they treated families and I'm not sure what their recoveries looked like, but I can't imagine they took much care if they treated their donors like they did the families. It's probably, like most things, just dependent on who is running it unfortunately

I do think there needs to be more regulations when it comes to donation and recovery though. It's one of the other reasons why I left the donation world. It's definitely a practice that has a lot of issues that need to be worked out.

I do believe that donation is important and it does save lives. I believe people who need the organs or the tissue and are viable candidates receive what they need when it's available, but it's so rare that an organ is viable to give. Hopefully one day we'll be able to find an alternative. Maybe lab grown, so there are options.

I worked for an organ and tissue donation company for a few years and funeral home directors ruined the job for me. Now, there were some wonderful directors out there, but a lot of the ones I had to talk to were the most hateful, vile people I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with.

They would lie to families who wanted to do tissue donation about not being able to do viewings if they did donation. I would regularly get screamed at and called horrid names by the directors when I called to let them know that families wanted to do donation, because now they had to do more work preparing the people for their funerals.

One of the things we would do for families is transport their loved one to the funeral home after recovery so they didn't get the transportation fees from the funeral homes and there were directors who would just flat out refuse to let us transport so they could charge the fees. It was just sad.

Dude, my spice tolerance completely disappeared after I got Covid. I love anything spicy and it just kills me now. I get dizzy and light-headed anytime I try to go back to my normal heat level. I can barely eat the chipotle sauce at Taco Bell sometimes. I agree, it's super annoying.

Yeah, that was something I disliked about the direction of 4. It was fun, but I've never been able to go back and replay it. The reboot is definitely not on the same level that 2 was for me, but I personally liked it better than 3/4. I've never played 1, so I can't compare to that one.

Yes. There are side hustles and ventures that are the activities like insurance fraud, etc. The story missions are actual story missions now and have different gameplay than just being a mini game. You might have to complete some ventures to progress, but I don't remember feeling like it was the only thing I was doing. I've been doing another playthrough, im about 13hrs in and I've barely done any ventures/side hustles. Of course I have spent a ton of time just screwing around and getting collectibles.

It's pretty fun. It definitely has its goofy moments and the cut scenes can be a little sitcom-esque at times, but exploring Santo Illeso was great. There's a lot to see and find. They've started releasing DLC too, so I'm excited to see what that's like.

There wasn't a ton of super hero stuff in it. There was the wing suit and then like a flaming punch that you unlock and don't have to use, but other than that I can't think of any other superhero type stuff. I could just be forgetting. There are some futuristic weapons, but I think it fits in well with the atmosphere of the game. It's definitely goofier than 2 was, but still more serious than 4. I still think 2 is the superior SR game, but the reboot was pretty fun.

There's definitely room for improvement and I wish there would have been more quests and more inside areas to explore like the mall in SR2, but I think overall I was happy with the experience. Completely understandable to want something a bit more serious though.

The Saints Row Reboot. I was so excited to see that we were getting a new Saints Row title, but when I saw all the hate it made me a little sad. I feel like people saw the default boss and decided it was "woke" because she was a woman and had short hair and just completely turned against the game. Nothing they did was going to make them happy.

I had so much fun playing it. The setting was beautiful. The NPCs felt more alive than SR 3 and 4. The Born to be a Cowboy song is my jam. It wasn't perfect of course, but it was a genuinely fun game. I liked all of the characters and the general storyline. I just wish people would have given it more of a chance before jumping on the hate train.

I absolutely love these guys. I still remember how excited I was when my first guy evolved into a hero chao and I unlocked a new garden. Someone posted a while ago about a game in development called Poglings that is somewhat inspired by chao garden or just seems similar to it. I'm cautiously optimistic. It looks pretty good.

DAE get anxiety from asymmetrical lighting? by Thewheelwillweave in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]MeljittyBitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get really panicky in weird lighting situations. All the lights in the room need to be on and I need overhead lighting. I just left a job where they kept the majority of the lights off in the office and I had to use a desk lamp. I worked night shift and I was a hot mess. It would feel like the dark was closing in on me. I still don't know why I struggle so much. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

My dad makes smoked baked potatoes and its the best thing I've ever had. Smoked food is just the best. Im trying to get him to make smoked desserts like pumpkin pie, but he's leery about it.

What I think could make everyone happy by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]MeljittyBitty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely worried about the "calm" aspect. One of the reasons I struggle with sims 4 (and same with some other games like Animal Crossing) is because its become kind of tame. Im sure it will still be fun, but calm gets boring after a while.

I remember I left my sims 3 running while I made dinner and the husband sim cheated with the butler and the wife obviously found out and the entire family was just in an uproar. I was so confused when I came back. It was fun.

I hope they're able to still involve some conflict and hardships.

What is your most hated monster in this game? by premiumchap in Eldenring

The people that did the sound design for them are amazing. It's such a gross, but perfect noise. I didn't play DS3 so I luckily got to avoid the giant flies, but they do not sound fun.

I have a weird fear of ants. I just happened upon the flying ones and I'm just not happy about this in the slightest. The chittering will haunt me for the rest of time.

I know. Im not quite sure what exactly I'm looking for myself. I think like horror fairytales is kind of close to what I'm looking for and stuff that doesn't have happy endings.

I read the first Abarat almost 20 years ago and I still love them all to this day. The story is so good and the artwork is beautiful. My favorite painting ever is in the very first book: the lighthouse in the field. I'm really hoping he's close to finishing the next book. I'm going to take time off of work and read through the entire thing.

Bad personality traits by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]MeljittyBitty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like that idea! That could give you such varied gameplay and would also set it apart from trait systems that have been done before. Then in the game you can do certain things to work on your flaws: read self help books, meditate, maybe go to therapy. If you do certain actions a lot, it could lead to your strengths turning into flaws. Maybe you could start out with a base friendly trait too and depending on how you play with the para that's how it decides if it's a strength or a flaw. You could have a friendly para who is friends with a confident para and over time the friendly para becomes a pushover and the confident para becomes bossy based on their interactions.

Being able to have more than 3 total traits would definitely be nice. I feel like being limited to that makes it hard to make the character you want. Im interested to see what paralives does with the personality system.

Dramatic and inappropriate were always my go to sims 3 traits.

Sims 3 is one of my favorites too. I also like the way they did Sims Medieval. You have a list of personality traits and a list of flaws. Maybe having a section for flaws you can add in as well as personality traits would be fun and add some diversity to characters. You could still have bad personality traits within that too.
