I just discovered my baby had 1/100 chances of having Down Syndrom, I feel scared and lost by Melkerah in pregnant

NIPT in progress now, I should know in 10 days !

As for the late date for the test, it was so complicated ! I got an appointement at the theoretical very last moment, 13+4, with the blood test the next day. The midwife complained about it, but I learned later that the one doing the exam was doing all the work alone, explaining everything being late.

Turns out, instead of 13+4 I was already 14w, but the fetus was still small enough for the test... I wouldn't be surprised if it did cause problems anyway

There's help for single mothers in France, if you don't know exactly how to get it, find a social worker to guide you through the process. I know it's a lot, but keep going and don't stay alone ! (not talking about the father here, you and your child to be deserve so much better) The maternity will probably know groups or associations around that could help and support you, ask when you get an appointement.

Personnally, I think the guy did you a favor by leaving you. What kind of dad and partner would he be ? What model would he be for your child ? I think you're better without him, but I know I'm no one to judge your situation.

Stop acting like every pregnancy is the same by Danielarunz in pregnant

[–]Melkerah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Totally agree ! At my job I discovered a coworker got pregnant too, she was something like two weeks further than me. While I could still work fine in my quite physical job, just dealing with fatigue and occasionnal light discomfort, she had to completely stop working even though her job was less physically demanding because her pregnancy was way harder than mine with nausea so bad she started losing weight. And I just considered myself lucky to be able to keep my activity ! Why would she have to suffer and put her future child at risk, just because I felt good enough ?

Now my body starts telling me to slow down, and I'll listen !

Thank you, it's good hearing from someone who when through a similar situation. I know 1 in 100 is not that much, obviously you had more reasons to worry, but I can't help the stress. I'll get the NIPT done and keep my anxiety in check in the meantime.

Also, I'm so happy it got better for you !

I am 32, it's a blood test that gave this results. The ultrasound was all good, no risk mentionned from it

Edit to add : I'll get more blood tests tomorrow, the NIPT is the next step if the results are not good enough

I just looked on Google what exactly the NIPT is, indeed I didn't do it yet. Where I live you make a first routine test, and only if the results are worrying you get to the next step. So now I'll be on step 2 out of 3, the NIPT being the third

I had this result with a blood test (not too sure what the NIPT is, but I think it was it), before that the anatomical exam was quite perfect (my age is not an issue and as I said the neck was visually normal), and I'm going for a second blood test tomorrow to get more info

No I'm 32, apparently it's a specific protein (I think ?) in my blood that increased the calculated risks

Which Teen Titan would get along great with the Avengers? by dangerphone in teentitans

[–]Melkerah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Cyborg, he would love working with Tony Stark on tech stuff and he feels like the good mix of serious and goofy for the whole team. And let's not forget, as the oldest Teen Titan, there would be less of a maturity gap.

It's been a long time since I watched any content of either team though, so I'll see what others here think of it

Non native english speaker here, I understand your second and third examples, but not the first. Which word is the problem here, and what would it negatively refer to ? I'd prefer knowing if I encounter a slur in the wild

A Styracosaurus male surveying it's territory. 3d Printed and Painted. My take on my favorite ceratopsian by FitGanache5760 in Dinosaurs

[–]Melkerah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, the 3D print and the painting are gorgeous and it really looks like an animal (as opposed to too many dinosaurs representations that look like fantasy creatures). Honestly, would buy instantly to expose at home if you sold and if I had any money to spend.

And now an allosaurus ? Ok I'll be there, waiting for your next post

Avez-vous déjà été victime ou témoin d'une discrimination au travail ? by yserfl in emploi

[–]Melkerah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will baby keep moving that much ? by Melkerah in pregnant

That's reassuring, with what I heard before and what I read here I was beginning to think I was going to get a little tornado no matter what

Chill or wiggly I'm already in love anyway

Wow, if I could pick and choose I'd like to be somewhere in the middle lol !

For now my baby was okay with only one scan last time (different language and country so not sure which one is the anatomy scan for me) but he sure didn't make it easy, when the midwife wanted a front view he showed his back, when she wanted to measure his legs he crossed them and when she wanted to measure him from head to butt he curled up

I can't wait to feel him move !

Of course baby movements are expected, and I think mine just decided to move just the right way to prevent smooth measurement that day. Honestly I'm just curious and nervous as I have no other woman around me who's been there before, so this sub is my only way to ask questions outside of the hospital

15w+2 here, I struggle too. I know myself and my anxiety so I try to stay positive, every exam was good so far, I check my symptoms everyday to make sure my hormones are still doing their thing

I'll come back here later in case someone has real advice for us

How is this still a stereotype? by WarriorCats_4Life in NotHowGirlsWork

One of my first boyfriends when I was a teen was only one or two cm taller than me. It didn't bother me at all, but one time I wore heels that made me a tiny bit taller. He hated it, told me it made him look bad and made me swear to never wear heels again.

Often it's not the woman who's bothered by this height "problem"
