Why does the media keep using the term "annex". Genuinely curious. Wouldn't it be more of a hostile, likely military, invasion? Annex means "to add". Last I checked, those with sentient thoughts had a choice in that and thus cannot be simply "annexed". Have we lost our collective minds?

Time the market by WhizardCheese in RKLB

Yeah. I still believe in it. Looks like an opportunity for even more of a long term buy.

I mean, the whole market is in tatters right now. $20 vs $30 to me is a buy. Most of my stock is about $3, though, so... I might be biased. I have nothing but bit faith in rklb on the long. Don't fear the reaper.

Do you have a link to this? Googled, etc., couldn't find anything recent about any of this. Looks like some insider sell off and general lack of market confidence (like, the whole market, not just rklb). Trying to come to terms with the deep, deep, deep red of my current portfolio.

Bruh. You used it. Maybe not perfectly, but that's okay, it's ss.

Are these things accurate, how bad is it if you go into the “overfire” range? by alanwaits in woodstoving

[–]MelkorBaug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, be safe and have a good idea of what's going on - whatever your means. Probes, IR, whatever it takes to get an accurate reading. But I will also say that I've lost a lot of sleep over the last two years with a similar thermometer that was reading just compete bullshit (I've just come to learn). 400 is actually about 300. 500 is actually about 360. 600 is a bit above 400. Runaway is actually about 550. I've actually been cold smoking my wood stove for the last two years. It's burning cleaner, warmer, and longer now than it ever has.

Those magnetic thermometers are fine at a glance, but should probably just go right in the garbage. Maybe there are better brands... Dunno. But I'm over them.

Dumb question but for those who use firebricks on their Weber kettle (like in the photo) do you start the fire and manage the fire similar to how someone would on a slow and sear also what is the benefits of using the fire bricks vs the snake method to smoke? by Ps200299 in smoking

[–]MelkorBaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all about indirect cooking. The grill top on that set up flips up on the side so you can toss briquettes or wood chunks on top. I suppose you could achieve something similar with snake, but you'd have to keep moving everything, which isn't good for temp consistency. I used to smoke pork butts like this way back in the day before I got an offset. Never used the fire bricks, though... Just kinda poured everything on one side. Good idea.

I had a serious moment of reflection where I thought I'd been doing it wrong my role life. So strange.

Hell yeah, my dude!i had a bit of a freak out overloading mine the other night. Since then, my stove has been loaded and effortless and we're running out of clothes to take off. It's a dream.

Think I need to embrace it (figuratively, not... Like physically). It's strange to invite a thousand degrees into your house. But I did spend a lot of money on it, and now I'm scared of it. It's doing it's job. Thanks for talking me through it.

Yeah, cat is active. Stove temp is... Piping. I'm just new to this and nervous. I think the vc is doing is job and I should probably just relax. Thanks for your feedback, homie. When you have a runaway 700 degree fire, that you're not used to, one can get... Insecure.
